this is one of my fav dog friendly venues in sydney especially for a public holiday. everyone congregates in the car park and shoots hoops. super fun atmosphere. i never normally eat here, just drink. one time we had a show at the nearby factory theatre so came here for agoodold pub feed. the food was very mediocre, i had the barramundi and it tasted dirty. the nachos wasgoodthough. so skip the food and just drink!

the merivale takeover doesn't seem to have affected the old decor, funky crowd, andgoodmusic (live or otherwise). it may have increased the prices, though. happy hour'sgoodwith all beers $5 but, when it ends, some of the prices nearly double. the food's prettygoodpub food but even the cheapest sausage in a roll is $12.

food: the quality of the food isgoodand the serving sizes are generous. the dessert menu could be improved with some additional options.

service: the service is always friendly and warm. on certain busy nights (e.g. world cup game night), the bars seem understaffed which can lead to long wait times at the bar.

ambience: this pub has agoodchilled-out vibe and great event calendar. the crowd is a mix of people who seem friendly and the music is diverse. i also love that this venue is dog-friendly!

a definite hotspot for many reasons. all types mingle here, there's no sense of "exclusivity" (there are dogs that go here, for real), you'll get agoodfeed for a reasonable price, but most importantly (at least for me), it's one of the few bars/pubs/eateries that supports live bands, which really brought it all up a notch imo. can only hope all this doesn't change under merrivale's new management

husband and i came here to watch the lion's v all blacks game. they had a large projector screen televising the game. needless to say this is a great pub to watch any sport playing at the time. to eat we shared the bourbon glazed pork ribs with rocket, purple cabbage, raisin, jalapeño & fried cauliflower salad w/ chipotle dipping sauce. yum yum yum! meat falling off the bone, salad was a perfect compliment to the dish. we also ordered a side of fries with rosemary, cumin salt & sour cream mayo. this came in a very large bowl, worth $8. nice! this is agoodpub, dog and kids friendly and has a long list ofgoodpub grub!

pleasantly surprised! chicken burger and moroccan chicken was very moist and tender, especially for pub food. will be back.goodbeer selection too.

i'm a massive fan of the vic. awesome modern outdoor deck. then the basketball area is great with umbrella's and dog friendly. generally a family friendly pub. they playgoodtunes with live bands and the food isgoodfor pub standards. i had the quinoa, goats cheese and pistachio salad. it was beautiful and filling. it was a large serving, however $22 is quite pricey for a salad.

to be honesti always thought pub food was crap unless you were withgoodcompany, but this time i was alone and the food here was on par to other pub places. nice flavour mixed with a nice bear and you can't go wrong. definitely a traditional design which was not my liking but again with friends you'll have a blast with loads of activities to do

with phil living in the general area, we often drive past the vic on our way to the city. however we never thought much of them as they seemed to be just another one of those pubs - not really our scene. however when amy asked us if we were free one thursday night to sample some dishes of the vic's new spring menu, we thought now would be asgoodas any chance to see exactly what "pub grub" had to offer.

it had been a little while since we had been to the vic. since our last visit it has improved greatly. we stopped in for a few drinks and some dinner before heading to a show.
great food and excellent range of beer at this pub and verygoodservice.
highly recommend the potato skins which were awesome. all the food being served looked amazing.
we will definitely be going back.

agoodlocal gem. i do enjoy a local delight such as this, i often head here as it is nearby. the service is friendly and the food is that perfect pub fill. can get a little rowdy in the early hours but maybe that is a sign to call it a night.goodwork
