the vic on the park is a local corner pub, with a new chef and a fresh new menu, located on the corner of enmore and addison road in marrickville. new head chef kirsten baker says, “we’re keeping some of the favourites like the outdoor spit roasts but at the same time have given the menu an overhaul to offer a more extensive variety of food. and there are a lot more vegetarian options that we’re sure our locals will love.”

i never knew marrickville was such a foodie’s paradise. from smokey meats and amazing yeeros, to endless rows of vietnamese restaurants, marrickville is my new go-to suburb when i’m feeling like trying something new. so the vic on the park faces some stiff competition, especially since they’ve just launched a new menu with a brand new head chef.

pretty standard pub grub at the vic. a decent value $12.50 lunch menu and a few blue chip additions in their 'chalkboard' menu - although not much variety and dubious value. we had the buttermilk fried chicken burger with chips ($18) and the warm duck salad ($25). the burger with slaw and guacamole was tasty but messy, fries bog standard. the duck salad with a soft boiled egg on top also was tasty and looked good, but didn't contain a huge amount of duck and most of what was in it was skin.

with phil living in the general area, we often drive past the vic on our way to the city. however we never thought much of them as they seemed to be just another one of those pubs - not really our scene. however when amy asked us if we were free one thursday night to sample some dishes of the vic's new spring menu, we thought now would be as good as any chance to see exactly what "pub grub" had to offer.

it had been a little while since we had been to the vic. since our last visit it has improved greatly. we stopped in for a few drinks and some dinner before heading to a show.
great food and excellent range of beer at this pub and very good service.
highly recommend the potato skins which were awesome. all the food being served looked amazing.
we will definitely be going back.

great venue. 4/5

i'm kicked back on the vic's back deck, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying a wine when i catch the moment they first notice each other. i watch their playful interactions heat up before animalistic lust takes over and the pair threaten to consummate in the corner...thankfully, the lovers owners intervene and the frisky pups are separated. from its dog-friendly deck and basketball half-court, to its traditional pub grub menu

bigger than it looks on the outside they have a nice outdoor area at the back. food wise had the pulled pork nachos which was pretty nice but there vegetarian burger which had pumpkin in it was a bit too thick to eat and impossible to hold as you squeeze it,the patty comes out from every direction. it did feel heavy in weight but i didn't like it. tried some of the fried chicken burger which was nice but what fried food isn't tasty? food took a while to come out, prices reasonable,a little bit better than your average pub food

he says: have enjoyed many a drinking session here and the food always looks like it’s a winner. it’s been on our list of burgers to eat for ages but only a failed house hunting search served as the impetus for us to finally dine on their burgers. she says: we had a rather late night here a few weeks ago and witnessed burgers (but did not get any of our own). it was time to give them a go. and as mentioned they also dulled the pain somewhat of looking at ridiculously overpriced, rubbish rental properties. (we did subsequently find a place – him and i are moving in together!)

long live the vic!. one side of this pub is a classic old, relaxed pub vibe with all the usual trappings (tab, footy on tv, a bit of fluoro). the service at the bar is friendly and quick, the beer and wine selection is good. on the other side of the building is the restaurant which has that hipster vibe. the food is incredible! they do a great gourmet spin on all the favourites. the sliders are a must-have, along with the potato skins. the outside deck/courtyard often hosts cool events. this pub has it all and i hope they continue doing exactly what they're doing.

in my ever-widening search for a pub with something different, i’m forced to admit i might have misjudged the humble slider. this fast-paced yellow kitchen - clearly delineated with a suitably hipster font - produces four winning sliders ($20/4) from a repertoire of six. “beef” ($6) with pickles, onion, cheese and french’s yellow mustard mayo is hard to beat; but by doubling up “vego” ($6) with grilled haloumi and a zucchini fritter, plus mixed leaves and dill yogurt, it’s a vegetarian game-changer. i even liked their brown-paper serving method that keeps ‘em separated; cuts down on mess, and allows you to two-hand them with crafty brews, like pikes oakbank pilsner lager ($8.50) . additionally, the mainstays of this old-boozer turned local community hub have been updated rather than forgotten. the pie of the week ($17) , bearing duck, chicken and mushrooms wrapped with credible pastry and topped by intense gravy and mushy peas, makes a mighty meal. however if you’re really st

surprisingly great food. truthfully i didnt expect the food i received on a recent visit to the vic.

it was amazingly tasty and good. we had the rotisserie cooked lamb on the spit, served in brioche buns with an amazing tzatziki, tomato chutney and spinach.

very well executed food.

my friends had a pasta and the other a tasmanian salmon fillet that was cooked to perfection.

inner west hipster pub doing kick ass food - well done

enjoyable. really enjoyed the jalapeño poppers and the sliders. atmosphere was very lively for dinner early on a friday evening- possibly a bit loud for a casual family dinner, although there were plenty of kids around. we'd rethink bringing along our daughter next time.

the only real negative was that the food took ages. in fairness though there was a very large group table ahead of us.

been living in the area for nearly 4 years and went to the vic for the first time tonight. the best chicken parma in the inner west, and it was absolutely enormous. great outdoor deck and atmosphere, i'll be back for sure!
