now as you would expect from a place called the tea cosy, they are into tea and of course scones - they are actually famous for their devonshire teas. for $12.50 you receive a scone basket with two of the best scones i've tasted in ages, your choice of jam, proper double thick cream and your choice of beverage. as it is the tea cosy may i suggest you choose tea as your tea pot will come in a very cute tea cosy of course (irish breakfast was our choice) and you will also find the most eclectic assortment of teaspoons. mine was quite sedate in that it was only a bunch of grapes from the barossa, i heard the lady behind me say something about hers being a dunny from dunedoo.

scones are frsh and delicious. a good spot for a break, either on the pavement on market day or in the small, but original backyard. the hospitality and service is excellent but the highlight is the freshly made scones, either plane, cheese or fruit, and a choice of a huge range of home made jams. a little on the expensive side, but it includes a hot drink and is good value for money.

i came here to try their scones and with a short wait a fresh batch just came out if their ovens! my mum and i both tried their plain and their date scones. perfectly baked and with our jam of choice and cream it was perfect morning tea but very filling!

walking in to this shop, i immediately liked the setting... there were colourful knitted covered pots, brick walls, old wooden furniture, dainty pretty tea cups, vines of leaves sprawling on the meshed wooden gates in the courtyard...

i was very full after my first scone but stretched my limits to accomodate another half. i was very happy with my scone fix. i wouldn't say these are the absolute best scones i've ever tasted but they were very good. i think that key features of scones is that they need to be fresh, well-baked and generous, and the tea cosy definitely ticked those boxes.

i first heard of the tea cosy from a friend and i was won over by the cute tea cosies, wide selection of tea and gourmet jams and the fact that their scones are baked fresh. the tea room is located at the back of the irish design shop and as we make our way through to the open courtyard we pass the staircase of teapots and their handmade tea cosies. the courtyard is quite small a number of tables and chairs crammed against the walls but they do have more seating upstairs on the balcony and also a separate tea room of private events. from the menu we ordered the 'deluxe tasting basket for two' which consists of an assortment of scones in a two tiered stand and a selection of gourmet jams, double thickened cream and drinks of your choice ($24). scones that were in oven today were plain, cheese, chocolate scones. they also had sultana and apple and cinnamon but unfortunately they were out of those

they have tables both inside and outside.  since it was a nice sunny day, we chose to sit outside in a narrow side alley.

delightfully satisfying. visited the tea cosy last thursday afternoon at 2pm using a deals.com voucher for a $24 high tea and could not be more impressed. granted there were not a lot of customers when we visited but we found the service first rate. the scones, jams and coffee/tea were perfect and could not have been better. we sat on the front verandah and when our drinks arrived, i was surprised that the tea pot had a 'cat' themed tea cosy. i jokingly asked the proprietor how she knew we were cat lovers and she replied 'you had a cat motif on your email booking'. unbelievably great attention to detail and this personal touch made us feel very welcome indeed. we only paid half price for the deal but would glady return for more visits at the full price which for coffee/tea and two scones/jam is not bad at all in the rocks. yummeeee!

a clock at the entrance to the irish design shop beckons us in through to the tea cosy ( formerly known as tara tea room ) with the promise of freshly-baked scones - it helps to arrive on the hour - and we find ourselves tucked into a quaint indoor seating area decorated by tea paraphernalia with tea-themed ornaments for sale (such as rings) and a seriously cute in-wall miniature kitchen! between the four of us we've got a serve of each of the day's scone varieties covered - plain, currant, spinach and fetta - with flavours changing all the time. being a warm day, we order jugs of refreshing iced lemon tea to share which are served in guinness glasses. but it's the sco
