perfect visit. nuff said. strolling around the rocks on a weekend and saw this cuteteaplace that had so many customers. decided to pop in and look for a seat. ordered the devonshireteapackage with plain scone and sultana scone, strawberry jam, thick cream, and creme brulee tea. i also ordered the lemongrass tea. didn’t disappoint at all! the scones were really good, keep in account that i’m not a scone lover, but this one successfully stole my heart! love the ambience as well, as i never experienced havingteain a unique place like this.

it’s all incredibly charming and feels just like being at nanna’s house – if i had a nanna who lived in a quaint little cottage who made her own jam, collectedteasets and had a hobby of knittingteacosies.

we come back every time. we've been coming to theteacosy for a few years now whenever we visit sydney from interstate- we will literally organise our holidays and business trips in a certain way to make sure we can get to the rocks for a saturday morning stroll through the markets, and a stop here for scones andteais an integral part of our experience every time.

this year's visit was on a freezing cold and extremely windy morning, and we were thinking we might need to squeeze our toddler and baby pram inside to survive the weather. however, we were happy to discover that the rear courtyard was well sheltered from the wind and was perfectly pleasant as ever.

for the first time ever, we had the shared tasting basket for two, which for $16 came with four different scones and two different jams (we couldn't agree on just two, so we requested a third). the scones were absolutely amazing. the kind that make you want to go back and order another round, immediately. or extend your holiday by a day just so you can come back tomorrow and do it all again. amazing. we had a plain scone, an apricot and vanilla, a strawberry and cream, and a cheese scone. they were all light, fluffy, but very substantial. the scones came with cream and butter, and we had the strawberry, blood plum, and pear and vanilla jams. if i was pushed, i'd say my favourite was the cheese scone with butter. a close runner-up was the apricot scone and the strawberry jam. it was all great, though. my picky toddler ate a whole scone's worth, and between my mother and i we demolished the rest.

i had a chamomile tea, which came with real chamomile flowers in the pot and was lovely and strong. my little one had the cutest babycino ever- it came in a pink spotted cup with matching saucer and paper doily, with two marshmallows on the side and sprinkles on the top. she was in raptures.

we have loved this place for years, but for us, it has taken a step up to be even better. cannot wait for our next trip to sydney so we can return.

i can't believe this is the first time i've heard of this place! allteadrinkers should seriously hang out here (well at least check it out!). not just for females. relaxed atmosphere inside a heritage building with courtyard. great service - they made a batch of new scones for us close to finishing time and we weren't rushed to eat them. this is what makes a dining experience so enjoyable for me. so take my word guys, girls, locals, tourists... and drink up! :)

...we decided to get devonshiretea($12.50 per person) and opted to get one of each scone for our basket – plain, cherry and almond, currant, cheddar and thyme. our jam selections were apricot (even though i urged the om to pick fig and ginger) and paw paw, lime and

love the aussie-themed cosies, super cute! adorable selection ofteacosies available for purchase :) cuteteapots on the stair leading up to more spaces for enjoying nice scones! devonshiretea(scone basket) for 2 people . ($12.50 per person for 2 scones 1 drink 1 jam). i picked “fig & ginger” and my friend ms x picked “raspberry” home-made jams to go with our scones! as for drinks that come with the set, ms x ordered soy latte and i ordered “lemon lime chiller” lastly, a close up of the famous fresh baked scones! in front of the shop, there is a little clock that actually indicates when the last batch of scones came out just so you know that you are getting super fresh scones into your stomach! :)   filed under: restaurant revi

housed in a typical 1870s victorian terrace, theteacosy was once the home of a merchant seaman and his wife, who lived in it from the 1920s until the 1970s when the government tried to move the local residents on. their neighbour, nita mccrae, whose family had lived in the area from 1805, formed the rocks residents group, a precursor to the green bans, in order to oppose breaking up her local community. flash forward to today when the government is still trying to remove public housing tenants from the area, including those in the historic sirius apartments, which are listed by the national trust of australia (nsw). luckily the historical tradition of strong resident action groups has continued, with the millers point resident’s action group fighting hard to save their local community.so as you take inteaat theteacosy, which now managed by the sydney harbour foreshore authority, raise your cup to the tenacity of local residents, who have fought hard to ensure that government takeovers of public housing in the rocks have never gone well.theteacosy feels a bit like visiting grandmother’s house. the upstairs rooms are populated with mismatchedteasets and chairs, knittedteacosies, and unfinished baskets of knitting resting here and there. the drawcard is the freshly baked scones, pulled out of the oven at particular times each day, as indicated by scone o’clock on their chalkboard

there were some good moments had at theteacosy, but all up, the experience proved to be rather underwhelming. if you ask me, afternoonteais equal parts about the ambience and the food, but beyond the beautiful setup, things actually felt quite patchy. the experience really suffered from the scale it operated at, and as a result things felt very mass-produced, rather than the quaintness you’d hope out of a traditional afternoon tea. it’s not a bad place to linger for an hour or so with a plate of scones on a nice day, but i would definitely advise against spending hours in line waiting for it.

lovely decor and great scones. it definitely attracts the tourist crowd more since the move but the scones are still fresh and jams are delicious. takeaway is a great option if you just want to have afternoonteaat home away from the crowds.

fancy a cup ofteaand warm scones with jam and cream? theteacosy is just the place to satisfy your afternoonteacravings. nestled in an old terrace house in the rocks, theteacosy is a cafe that retains an old-fashioned charm. the interior has hardly been touched in converting the house into a functioning cafe, with tables wedged into nooks and crannies around the two-level space.

the missus wanted to take my parents to a highteaexperience and instead of the more upmarket highteain hotels, we opted for a quaint experience, one that you can have at a place liketeacosy. there’s nothing quite like a slow sunday relaxing at the rocks, watching people walk by and enjoying freshly made scones. a must do for locals and visiting guests alike!

best value highteain sydney - staff are super friendly, cafe is situated in the rocks with a small amount of seating across 2 floors. items are made fresh in house - particularly the double whipped cream and delicious jams. brownies are a good balance between fudgy and chewy, scones are soft and warm, finger sandwiches were also pretty good. ordered earl greytea- was nice and strong.
