fancy a cup of tea and warm scones withjamand cream? the tea cosy is just the place to satisfy your afternoon tea cravings. nestled in an old terrace house in the rocks, the tea cosy is a cafe that retains an old-fashioned charm. the interior has hardly been touched in converting the house into a functioning cafe, with tables wedged into nooks and crannies around the two-level space.

the scones here are delicious! crumbly with a rich buttery taste. the raspberryjamcomplements it well. the finger sandwiches are good but honestly the scone steals the show.

the tea cosy is definitely a cute quaint place - you choose where you want to sit, and while the flexibility is nice, some guidance would probably be helpful on busy days - we went on a quiet day so it was fine. it’s an interesting concept, and the provision of yarn to knit with while waiting was definitely cool. we ordered the devonshire tea and mixed sandwiches, with an extrajam($2), and asked for this to be presented on a stand, which they accommodated for. my only problem is that they got our order wrong! we got a plain scone instead of a fruit scone as requested - this is despite confirming our order, and we didn’t realise until after we had already begun eating unfortunately. the scones were served warm - which is always nice! i really dislike when places serve cold scones. these were decent, reasonably sized scones, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, but not the best i’ve had. i like the assortment of jams available - they have tasters you can try too. not the biggest fan of the cream however - i much prefer the clotted cream from other places. the sandwiches were also quite nice - it’s an interesting presentation having three slices of bread for each finger sandwich, but again nothing spectacular. that being said, the prices were very reasonable so it was worth what we paid. i loved the mixed berry iced tea - it wasn’t too sweet like many iced teas often are, which i appreciate!

read some reviews that this was the best scone place in town and being a lover of a good scone, i had to try this. we ordered a high tea for 2 and had 4 scones of different flavours - plain, apricot, cheese, fruit. the bottom tier came with some ribbon sandwiches which were quite nice. the scones were a bit too crunchy but this may be how you prefer your scone. personally for me, i like it slightly crunchy on the outside but soft and crumbly on the inside. the jams were delicious. we had the rhubarbjamand also the pear and vanilla. the rhubarb was fresh and tangy and the pear was sweet, quite a nice balance between the two jams. the cream however was a bit runny, and i would have prefered a thicker cream.
overall a nice place for a brunch or afternoon tea. the price is a bit high for scones but they are known for it i guess. you can choose to sit outdoors in the little courtyard inside or indoors upstairs. there is also an area out the front of the cafe to sit looking out onto the street.

i quite like this place for the cosy atmosphere! generous servings for two ($45) which included scones, 2 jams, sandwiches and 2 choices of drink. the scones are served warm and are buttery and delicious. thejamhowever was even more amazing with fresh cream on the scones. the whole vibe of the tea cosy suits it's name, with baskets of wool for you to knit with every tea pot presented to you with its own cosy.

found this place while wandering around the rocks, decided to duck in for a feed and were glad we did.
the best scones i have had (sorry mum) , they were still warm and soft. you have to try the figjamas well.
highly recommend this place.
my only negative is that i didn't find it sooner so i could've gone there more whilst in town!

had high tea in here when we had short visit on the rocks. i read review on zomato mostly said they have best schones in town. so i was ordered devonshire tea set (include 2 schones with selectedjamand cream, and selected drinks) and hubby ordered vanilla milkshake. i must admit the schones is very good. it's warm (fresh baked), fluffy yet crusty at the same time and a bit milky. i picked figs gingerjamwich quite good and match with the schones.
