we come back every time. we've been coming to the tea cosy for a few years now whenever we visit sydney from interstate- we will literally organise our holidays and business trips in a certain way to make sure we can get to the rocks for a saturday morning stroll through the markets, and a stop here for scones and tea is an integral part of our experience every time.

this year's visit was on a freezing cold and extremely windy morning, and we were thinking we might need to squeeze our toddler and baby pram inside to survive the weather. however, we were happy to discover that the rear courtyard was well sheltered from the wind and was perfectly pleasant as ever.

for the first time ever, we had the shared tasting basket for two, which for $16 came with four different scones and two differentjams(we couldn't agree on just two, so we requested a third). the scones were absolutely amazing. the kind that make you want to go back and order another round, immediately. or extend your holiday by a day just so you can come back tomorrow and do it all again. amazing. we had a plain scone, an apricot and vanilla, a strawberry and cream, and a cheese scone. they were all light, fluffy, but very substantial. the scones came with cream and butter, and we had the strawberry, blood plum, and pear and vanilla jams. if i was pushed, i'd say my favourite was the cheese scone with butter. a close runner-up was the apricot scone and the strawberry jam. it was all great, though. my picky toddler ate a whole scone's worth, and between my mother and i we demolished the rest.

i had a chamomile tea, which came with real chamomile flowers in the pot and was lovely and strong. my little one had the cutest babycino ever- it came in a pink spotted cup with matching saucer and paper doily, with two marshmallows on the side and sprinkles on the top. she was in raptures.

we have loved this place for years, but for us, it has taken a step up to be even better. cannot wait for our next trip to sydney so we can return.

love the aussie-themed cosies, super cute! adorable selection of tea cosies available for purchase :) cute tea pots on the stair leading up to more spaces for enjoying nice scones! devonshire tea (scone basket) for 2 people . ($12.50 per person for 2 scones 1 drink 1 jam). i picked “fig & ginger” and my friend ms x picked “raspberry” home-madejamsto go with our scones! as for drinks that come with the set, ms x ordered soy latte and i ordered “lemon lime chiller” lastly, a close up of the famous fresh baked scones! in front of the shop, there is a little clock that actually indicates when the last batch of scones came out just so you know that you are getting super fresh scones into your stomach! :)   filed under: restaurant revi

this is a really nice (and cosy) place for tea and scones. the teapots come with a knitted cover and there’s also a knitting basket for you to knit while waiting for food. i had the creme brûlée tea which was really nice.

the highlight definitely has to be the scones which were warm and soft and fluffy on the inside. they also have a wide selection ofjamsto accompany the scones and i tried the pear and vanilla which was really good.

tried tea cosy a few days ago for a hen’s party. we reserved the nana’s nook (private room upstairs). it was lovely as we had the privacy. service was great, time to time waitresses would come to check if everything was okay, they were friendly and helped us taking group photos twice.

because we reserved the private room, by default we had to order the set menu — tea cosy taster. it’s $25 on the menu, but it was $30 for the private room, but you get to order 2 drinks instead of 1. our group was surprised by how generous the portion was (we had a few leftovers for takeaway!) — basically we got 2 scones, 4 different jams, cream, 3 different ribbon sandwiches, and 2 drinks. scones were really delicious, served warm and fresh. thejamswere so good. we really liked the rhubarb, and also the pear & vanilla jam. the ribbon sandwiches were great too!

for drinks, i ordered lemongrass and ginger cold tea. it was refreshing, but tad bit tooo sweet (most of my friends who ordered the same tea said the same feedback), i was expecting more subtle sweetness instead of full blown added sugar. i wish there were more ice cubes too as it was a warm afternoon. another drink i ordered was irish cream (non alcoholic) latte. great flavour, but again, tad bit toooo sweet. i think it’ll be nice if the sweetness could be toned down a little bit for the drinks as it tasted imbalanced with the sweetjamsfor the scones.

only minor feedback for service i have is, it’d be great if the waitress told us what were thejamsetc (we had to guess each one). other than that, it was a lovely experience at tea cosy. definitely will come back for a simpler devonshire tea!

i took my friend who had come over from perth and we were both delighted with the place. i had heard about it and wanted to try it out for myself. the range of tea was fantastic and they kept topping it up throughout out lunch which was nice. the scones were so fresh and fluffy and with their homemadejamsit was even better. the decor is very unique and they have given it a lot of thought right down to the knitting you can do right their on the tables.

this is one of my favourite places in sydney. i was so surprised when i first came in as from outside, you wouldn't expect such a cute place with a unique and quaint old style setting. some parts remind me a bit of the uk. you can choose to sit outside or indoors, downstairs or upstairs. i don't think they do the best scones but i love theirjamsand they have a good selection of teas. it's a fantastic place to just chill and i would definitely recommend a visit.

the tea cosy is definitely a cute quaint place - you choose where you want to sit, and while the flexibility is nice, some guidance would probably be helpful on busy days - we went on a quiet day so it was fine. it’s an interesting concept, and the provision of yarn to knit with while waiting was definitely cool. we ordered the devonshire tea and mixed sandwiches, with an extra jam ($2), and asked for this to be presented on a stand, which they accommodated for. my only problem is that they got our order wrong! we got a plain scone instead of a fruit scone as requested - this is despite confirming our order, and we didn’t realise until after we had already begun eating unfortunately. the scones were served warm - which is always nice! i really dislike when places serve cold scones. these were decent, reasonably sized scones, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, but not the best i’ve had. i like the assortment ofjamsavailable - they have tasters you can try too. not the biggest fan of the cream however - i much prefer the clotted cream from other places. the sandwiches were also quite nice - it’s an interesting presentation having three slices of bread for each finger sandwich, but again nothing spectacular. that being said, the prices were very reasonable so it was worth what we paid. i loved the mixed berry iced tea - it wasn’t too sweet like many iced teas often are, which i appreciate!

i love coming here so much! the decoration here is so adorable and irish, and there is a little knitting basket on every table! the scones here are some of the best i've ever had, and are so warm and fluffy. i really like the unique selection ofjamsand the ever-changing range of scone flavours. the iced teas are really refreshing also, with real pieces of fruit in it. cute place to hang out :)

read some reviews that this was the best scone place in town and being a lover of a good scone, i had to try this. we ordered a high tea for 2 and had 4 scones of different flavours - plain, apricot, cheese, fruit. the bottom tier came with some ribbon sandwiches which were quite nice. the scones were a bit too crunchy but this may be how you prefer your scone. personally for me, i like it slightly crunchy on the outside but soft and crumbly on the inside. thejamswere delicious. we had the rhubarb jam and also the pear and vanilla. the rhubarb was fresh and tangy and the pear was sweet, quite a nice balance between the two jams. the cream however was a bit runny, and i would have prefered a thicker cream.
overall a nice place for a brunch or afternoon tea. the price is a bit high for scones but they are known for it i guess. you can choose to sit outdoors in the little courtyard inside or indoors upstairs. there is also an area out the front of the cafe to sit looking out onto the street.

an adorable tea house located in the the rocks. i visited here as the aroma festival was on and being a coffee lover, i had to try any place in the area that might have had a special menu or offering due to this.

once you step inside this place, you feel transported to your grandma's house with the assortment of teapots, tea cosies, and knick knacks scattered around this multi story tea house. at first it seems kitsch but the baskets of knitting needles and yarn are quite endearing when you see people knit.

they had a special menu on offer of devonshire coffee with winter spiced scones (served with a cup of coffee). the scones were very fluffy and warm. they tasted like they came straight out of the oven (which it probably was as they specialised in them). they had a nice spice flavour to them but not overpowering. the accompanying lattes were also very nice. they had a choice ofjamson offer and we had selected strawberry & raspberry as well as cream.

if in the area and searching for a delicious afternoon tea, i highly recommend giving this place a try. they do seem to get busy as lots of people waiting for tables. please note that once you have snagged a table to go order on the ground level at the cashier and get a number or you could be sitting at your table for a while!
