pricey dinner, but lunch a bargain. the lunch special is a fantastic bargain for the bestmexicanfood in the ogden area. you get two entrees for 7 bucks are three entries for 9.
the chile verde is implemented very well. very flavorful. i also recommend asking for habanero salsa. it makes a great addition and flavoring to your meal.

i❤️ great food, awesome service, lovely setting. it's definitely not a typicalmexicanrestaurant. i love to go here for dates and then walk across the street and see a movie at the megaplex. they even have great vegan and vegetarian options. 😍

my favoritemexicanfood restaurant. i first went to sonora last valentine's day, and i fell in love with the place immediately. very cool decor and professional/efficient staff. they have a terrific menu with lots of items you don't see too often at othermexicanfood places. they have a nice alcohol menu that is not too expensive, and i love their chips and salsa appetizer. i was proud to take my family here when they visited me, and they ordered a wide variety of entrees which they still have not stopped talking about. their service is always terrific as is the food. order one of their specials and you will not be disappointed!

best utah mexican? no.. sonora grill isn't your averagemexicanrestaurant. the experience and price point is similar to the chevys restaurant chain but the analogy is inexact. chevys is more about cheap drinks and the party atmosphere while sonora grill is more about tweaking the flavors and more southwest u.s.mexicanthan straight up mexican. even so, we left with the feeling that the menu descriptions were more promising than the food itself.

this may be the bestmexicanfood in ogden for lack of competition but despite the hype it sure isn't the bestmexicanfood in utah. the bestmexicanin utah would probably be frida bistro in salt lake (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/54/1498362/restaurant/central/frida-bistro-salt-lake-city), which is in different league, the same league as cactus in seattle (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/1/1130/restaurant/madison-park/cactus-seattle).

note: sonora grill is flagged as romantic. at the right time it might be. but often there will be too many families and children offsetting the rather nice interior design.

bestmexicanfood in ogden, hands down. sure, this place is on the expensive side and as pretentious as it gets. some of the servers are downright snobs even. but, the food is some of the bestmexicanaround. it's not the boring cheese, cheese and more cheese dishes you get everywhere else in utah. this is cooking with flavor. unique flavors you just won't find elsewhere in utah. all of those housemade salsas make my mouth water just thinking about them. and their chile relleno is easily the best i've ever had. two massive chiles covered and stuffed with the most deliciousmexicanwhite cheese. everything they serve here is fresh and delicious. now if only their table manner matched. at least the manager was very kind. i'm not sure why he hires such arrogant help.

i had the arroz con pollo (rice with chicken). super delicious, big chunks of chicken, tomato based sauce with savory spices and vegetables. kind of amexicanversion of comfort food.

we miss sonora grill. we recently moved to north carolina and my family misses sonora grill. it is by far the bestmexicanrestaurant. the food is good and fresh. the servers are always nice and fast. my favorite thing on the menu is the carne asada tacos (get it with the green sauce) and the grilled corn on the cobb. whenever i go to sonora grill i have dreams about my leftovers and have to eat them for breakfast because i can't wait anymore. i hate that i live so far away and can't enjoy the wonderful food and environment of this restaurant, as much as i want.

awesome beyond comparability. my husband and i had an occasion to celebrate recently so we decided to try something new and go to sonora grill. i had heard a lot about it, and it definitely lived up to the hype. the food was the bestmexicani've ever had. the atmosphere was a delight, and the service was perfect! i really enjoyed my experience and will be eating there many many more times in the future.

pretencious and good. it's probably the only place in ogden where you can find freshmexicanfood made with quality chicken. however, it is inexcusably expensive.

medium please. i felt as though i knew my way around during my second visit to sonora grill. emboldened by two of their incredible margaritas, i ordered the mango habanero shrimp "dangerously hot." i could have had it "medium" or "hot" but, thinking this was based on the utah standard of heat, i felt comfortable going all out.

when that beautifully prepared dish arrived i took one sniff and realized that i was in way over my head. each bite was a treacherous expedition to new frontiers of pleasure and pain and it was, without a doubt, the hottest entrée i have ever had. i was able to eat it all - due in large part to strategically timed bites of my wife's seafood chile relleno (which was delicious) and a loaded corona - this despite my watering eyes and fiercely running nose.

if you like finemexicanfood (and margaritas!) you cannot go wrong here. be forewarned that when it comes to heat they keep their word.
