everything i have had had been at leastgoodif not fabulous. my only complaint is that the wait staff gets a little overwhelmed and the service while polite and courteous can be very slow and intermittent. last night i ordered a margarita, a water and a beet and pear salad. water and salad out in 10 minutes but the margarita was almost 15 minutes after that and no one checked in between. i have on other occasions asked for a check because i needed to leave and waited and asked repeatedly for 20 minutes. other than that great place.

pure southern-urban feel. super fun "louisville" spot. live to take friends here who are visiting. food is heavy and greasy butgoodand drinks are very goid. my fave is the moscule mule which has its traditional brass cups and shaved cuped ice. it's super fun in summer because of the location and the way their setup is- out back on patio or by front where the doors come up to expose the sun. super cute spot!

tourist trap. they try hard to havegoodfood..but unfortunately it's not enough. there are more than a handful of local restaurants that serve the same genre of food but actually tastes delicious.

i love it here for many reasons. it's dog friendly, has verygoodvegan and gluten free options and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. they also sometimes have local fare options as well. the interior is beautifully rustic and the outdoor patio is comfortable and big enough for a large party or small for an intimate couple. i've had brunch and dinner here and will continue to go back.

the food is good, service not so much!

since this is right around the corner from my house i like to take advantage if its proximity. there isn't much after 10pm. the food here has always been amazing. the wedge salad, black bean soup, pulled pork, and brisket are mouth watering! it's just always a hassle getting the food. i will say i've never eaten here. always carry out. i wouldn't want to either. there seems to be more concern with "cool" music, gossip, and drinking than actually trying to serve people food. i've never felt as though my business was wanted there. i've also never had an accurate order whether i called or walked in. if i didn't live two blocks away i wouldn't eat here once or twice a month. on the other hand the food isgoodso kudos to the chef but the front of the house downgrades this place.

underwhelming experience. after several friends told me that i must try the silver dollar i decided to take my lovely of the loveliest there and see what the fuss was about. i arrived a bit early and waited for open. i was one of the first to arrive, was instantly seated in a small two top center of the room instead of one of the many open booths in a mostly empty restaurant . i am 6'1 and felt a little cramped in the little retro chair. next i noticed that everything on the menu was priced a bit more than i expected. did i mention its cold as hell in there(this is probably due to the fact the whole front of the building is a garage door) i ordered the chicken and waffles $18 dollars so as you can imagine my expectations were high. my wife ordered chili and some forgettable app. drinks came sauces explained, like i have never seen tomatillo sauce before? anyway food showed, first thing i noticed very high quality maple syrup on the stone cold half waffle! yes one half of a waffle cut into two pieces! i had just asked my wife if she would share it with me right before it came to the table, expecting a regular size waffle, jokes on me i guess. chicken wasgoodwarm probably brined and soaked in buttermilk, a bit smallish for 18 bucks the whole thing seemed more like a 12 dollar meal. it was tasty on some level. the wife's chile had brisket in it which was okay i won't comment on it further because i am a bit of a chili snob and could really destroy this thing, no need. wait staff typical hipsters. (take that for what its worth lol) i see this experience as a wash for me as i would not have been happy until i tried it. i will not return. not trying to be an ass, i suspect maybe on a different day it could have went a bit better, but i just wont take the chance.

p.s. i've had better waffles at barbara lee's just around the coner.

i didn't love it. i didn't hate it. i just didn't get it. piles of southern fried gastro-pub goodness are served in crude baskets alongside squeeze bottles of delectable sauces. the food isgoodif a bit pricy for what it is. the atmosphere is reminiscent of the garage bar without the innovation. it was worthwhile, but a bit soulless.

meh. my friends raved about this place. service was better than indicated in other reviews. food was okay. the fries were fresh and hot (burned my mouth), but the chicken i ordered was cold. took forever for the food to come out, too. my husband got a burger and fries -- it was the most we've ever spent on a burger and fries! the onegoodpart of the visit was the chocolate chip pecan pie. it was extremely delicious. if i go back, which my husband doesn't want to, it will only be for dessert!

great food. my wife and i really enjoyed our dinner here. the burger was very well done and my wife's fried oyster sandwich was superb. beer selection is quitegoodand my wife enjoyed one of the specialty drinks. we also have tried brunch. menu is pretty small but the food was very high quality. plan on spending 25-35 with a couple of beverages. we will be back!

the food wasgoodbut, oh my gosh, the service at the bar was awful!!! even before it began getting busy, i felt completely ignored. the staff all congregated at one end of the bar completing oblivious to the needs of customers. too bad because the food wasgoodbut the service totally turned me off to the place.

after debating due to mixed reviews, i tried this place yesterday. first impression was good, loving the atmosphere and friendly service. the fried okra (only $4) was the best ever and i thought things were going to go up from there. however i was mildly disappointed with the main courses. the chicken and waffles consisted of half a waffle and one roasted breast with amazing homemade syrup. the waffle and syrup were great, chicken lacked flavor and for $17, it was not a lot of food(i've never not gotten a full waffle in chicken and waffles before). the fried catfish was good(they seem to do fried foods well) and the special hot chili sauce was special. again though, i don't feel like i ate $15 catfish, considering it was of average flavor. the night did peak again however with dessert.... best. banana. pudding. ever. seriously. their hot version puts the normal cold version to shame! next time i'll stick with appetizers and dessert and be much happier with my bill. i did not eatgoodenough food for $50.

ok, but a little pricey for what it is. i've visited a couple of times.

the first time i sampled the chili carne carne, onion rings and the mac & cheese. all of these items were really good, particularly the chili.

on my second visit i tried the pulled pork, that was disappointing. the sandwich had too much bread, the meat was a little dry and lacked any smoke flavor. actually the bbq tasted like an attempt at carolinian vinegar based sandwich, and it had slaw on top, so i guess that's what they were aiming for. i've had plenty of carolina bbq, and this missed the mark.

the sides weren't asgoodthe second time around either; the sweet potato fries were overdone, the mac and cheese wasn't creamy at all like it was the first time. the manhattan cocktail i ordered was very good, but it should be a $8 a pop.

so, the food was a bit lack luster the second time around, but all in all still pretty good, however i expect a little better for the prices they charge.
