the senate sports tavern and eatery

we only stayed for a few drinks but their drink menu was excellent. they had a great selection of wines and well priced drinks. we did enjoy the patio and ordered some nachos which were well cooked but then again it’s hard to mess up nachos so i’m not sure how the rest of the menu is. theservicewas very friendly and fast. overall good experience.

why ottawa why?!?!. i use to like the senate when it first opened but i have seen nothing but a sharp decline since. cheap quality food that is overpriced. beer regular box restaurant selection. i read lots of positive reviews and wonder why? it is a sports bar so i assume most customers are not there not to eat well or don’t even know what good food is.serviceterrible!

i moved to ottawa about a year ago and live close to the market. i regret not finding this place sooner. i've visited a lot of the pubs in the area and this one is at the top of my list. the decor is warm and inviting, theserviceis incredible and the food is much much much better than the standard pub fair. you can tell they take pride in their menu. the coca cola candied ribs are a must try. can't wait to take a crack at the turducken !!
will be giving them all my business going forward

one of our favourite spots in the market. fun environment, (covered patio in the summer rules!) tastey food and ice cold beers. what else could you want?!

great game nights!. our group of friends typically make it out to the senate sports bar for senators game nights. even on hugely busy event nights such as these, theserviceis fast and super friendly. i am a vegan, and even though the menu is a unique twist on traditional pub and burger joint items, i am always able to find something. tons of flat screens and local booze :)

extremely impressed. i flew into ottawa from halifax on monday around supper with 2 other co-workers, and we decided to check out the market for a good place to eat. we were quite happy to stumble upon this very, very clean and great looking sports bar.

we found right away that theservicewas amazing with smiles from every waitress and we were quickly greeted and served very tasty beers (beau's on tap...say no more!). we ordered our food, which came to us quickly. meanwhile, we were able to take in 3-4 different hockey games on the very well positioned flat screen tvs. i ordered tequile pulled pork, and it was amazing.

eventhough we were only going to be in the city for two nights for work, the second night we didn't even have to think about it and went right back to the senate! again, we had a repeat of the night before with everything being terrific. i switched it up and went for the reuben sierra and was not disappointed. awesome experience, and will be back for sure again, and again....and again!

warm, friendly and fun.. i’ve been twice with a group of friends and had a great time theservicewas fast and the food is very good and the beer is cold. it’s a great place to go to watch a game. their prices are very reasonable for a downtown pub. i’ll definitely be going back soon and telling my friends to check it out.

great spot!. i wouldn't call my mother and i sports fans but we saw that the senate was new in town and thought we'd test it out for the fun!
i'm glad we did! the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. it wasn't too loud and flashy like some "other" sports bars in ottawa and theservicewas friendly and courteous.
i ordered the sheppard's pie and salad and it was de-licious!!! no ketchup needed! and i could drink the salad dressing! my mother had the pineapple burger with a side of onion rings. it was amazing as well! i was surprised to hear that almost everything on their menu was house made (including items like their ranch dressing and chipolte mayo!). it's a nice change to your regular pub fare that served at other bars, usually comes in pre-made and frozen!!!
for dessert, we shared the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream! what a mistake, we should have ordered two! we devoured it!
the tavern also has their own house made "chex mix" that has a little kick to it! so good.
overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely be recommending this spot!!! maybe we'll become sports fans after all!!!
