the senate sports tavern and eatery

first time, it won't be the last.. i had to show a friend around town and we decided to eat somewhere in the market in the evening and the senate was definitely the right choice!

the staff were great, especially over the phone when i called in to make a reservation.

but the most impressive part about the senate is its perfect combination of atmosphere and food. my friend and i love how cozy the place felt, a perfect balance between privacy and openness (especially for game nights). i ordered the turducken sandwich and it was delicious. perfect seasoning, nice texture and generous portion size. the fries were perfect as well, not too salty. my friend ordered the pea-nut butter & bacon with apple slaw and she really enjoyed it. an eye-opening combination for people who have been shy to try something new.

overall, i am very pleased with thefoodand atmosphere of the senate. with its friendly staff, deliciousfoodand generous portion size (for a very reasonable price), i will gladly bring all of my friends here.

i have eaten at this place twice and very pleased with thefoodi ate. i first ordered the buffalo chicken wraps, which i very very spicy, a little too much for me to handle. the second time i got the bbq burger which was a great choice too

best sports bar in the city by far. perfect feel and thefoodis way better than what you'd expect at your average sports bar. try the fish and chips or the peanut butter burger. two of my favourites.

this is my favourite spot to watch a game in ottawa. not as busy or overpriced as real sports. as a jays fan, i love the fact that they play all the jays games and many of the patrons are regulars and true blue fans. thefoodis decent for pub fare and the prices are modest. my only complaint is that it's a little small and the set-up is not conducive to large crowds which can make watching a big game problematic if the place gets busy. i suggest coming in early if there's a hot game on.

why ottawa why?!?!. i use to like the senate when it first opened but i have seen nothing but a sharp decline since. cheap qualityfoodthat is overpriced. beer regular box restaurant selection. i read lots of positive reviews and wonder why? it is a sports bar so i assume most customers are not there not to eat well or don’t even know what goodfoodis. service terrible!

i moved to ottawa about a year ago and live close to the market. i regret not finding this place sooner. i've visited a lot of the pubs in the area and this one is at the top of my list. the decor is warm and inviting, the service is incredible and thefoodis much much much better than the standard pub fair. you can tell they take pride in their menu. the coca cola candied ribs are a must try. can't wait to take a crack at the turducken !!
will be giving them all my business going forward

great sports bar!. thefoodwas really good (buffalo wrap and tequila pulled pork) and the staff was very friendly and attentive. even if we hadn't just won tickets there to the sens game on thursday (which was awesome!) we would still return! a great night watching hockey at the tavern :)

it was about time!. finally a sens sports bar in the heart of ottawa!
great location, nice place, gorgeous waitresses, very good service, many good beers, very goodfoodin big plates. and if you want to watch a sens game, that's definitely the place to go. enjoy it! and best luck to the owners!

warm, friendly and fun.. i’ve been twice with a group of friends and had a great time the service was fast and thefoodis very good and the beer is cold. it’s a great place to go to watch a game. their prices are very reasonable for a downtown pub. i’ll definitely be going back soon and telling my friends to check it out.

friendly, great food, good beers!. i've been to the senate a few times now and thefoodhas been the most outstanding thing i've noticed. it's something different then the usual pub fare and i'm having a hard time finding anything i wouldn't order at least twice. the staff are friendly and helpful. the management is often available for questions and they appear to be very committed and involved in the business. love the selection of beers and i can't wait to share a few with other nhl fans this weekend! see you all there!

great spot!. i wouldn't call my mother and i sports fans but we saw that the senate was new in town and thought we'd test it out for the fun!
i'm glad we did! thefoodwas delicious and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. it wasn't too loud and flashy like some "other" sports bars in ottawa and the service was friendly and courteous.
i ordered the sheppard's pie and salad and it was de-licious!!! no ketchup needed! and i could drink the salad dressing! my mother had the pineapple burger with a side of onion rings. it was amazing as well! i was surprised to hear that almost everything on their menu was house made (including items like their ranch dressing and chipolte mayo!). it's a nice change to your regular pub fare that served at other bars, usually comes in pre-made and frozen!!!
for dessert, we shared the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream! what a mistake, we should have ordered two! we devoured it!
the tavern also has their own house made "chex mix" that has a little kick to it! so good.
overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely be recommending this spot!!! maybe we'll become sports fans after all!!!

greatfoodgreat atmosphere. had the pleasure of dining at this locally owned and run sports bar. they offered a variety of traditional pub foods with an interesting twist! had the peanut butter, bacon burger with apple slaw. was probably the best burger i've had, gives chez lucien a run for their money! had the fish & chips on another visit which are battered in miss vickies salt n' vinegar chips! talk about a delicious twist! they also offer a quinoa salad that i have to try next visit! very cozy and warm interior which kept me there til close more than once, haha. i'll be frequenting there often!
