the salty dog cafe

it was a bit expensive but given the spectacular view, the tasty food and the pleasant service, i thought it was worth it. we especially enjoyed the peel your own shrimp cocktail and the catch of the day ( mahi mahi ) sandwich.

love!. we love you salty dog! don't let anyone say otherwise! you are the best..... yes you are a family place. but that is what life is all about...a happy family! thank you salty dog for a memorable trip. =)

great for lunch. the beat shrimp salad i've had. servive was great.

good food, good service!. we all ate shrimp or fish. shrimp salad on pretzel bread is great, shrimp po'boy as well. fresh fish of the day sandwich was amazing. and you can never go wrong with fish and chips! only part of the meal that wasn't amazing was the coleslaw, but you are so satisfied with the rest, it doesn't really matter. service was impeccable. never waited, staff was friendly and helpful.

over priced. i am a local and heard all these great things about the salty dog . so i went with some friends and had a horrible experience. for one our waiter was rude . we would ask him something about the menu and he would sigh at us like we were bothering him . two we waited for 40 mins for our food and we were the only people in there! three the food was wayy overpriced. payed 50 bucks for two salads and two drinks ! will never come back

always a good time at the salty dog. had lunch there this time. i had a nice fresh caught seafood wrap, my wife had the grouper, kids had the typical fare. we sat on the patio overlooking the docks on a beautiful saturday afternoon. as usual, the salty dog was busy, so we had to wait about 30 minutes, but we walked around the marina to browse the quaint shops until our pager went off. once we were seated the server was prompt, attentive, knowledgeable, and fun. i then enjoyed seeing a group of curmudgeonly seniors try to seat themselves and get thrown out by (a gracious) hostess. interesting mixed drinks and draft beers were available. lunch selection was great. wish they had the live music at lunch, since the show at dinner is always a hit with the kids (and me). prices were typical for a tourist spot, but what do you expect? you're paying for the experience. i challenge anyone to say they haven't had a great time at the dog! this is a tradition for our family whenever we come to hilton head.

stop kidding yourself. this is a "family bar." a place where mom and dad can have a few drinks and the kids can play. food is cafeteria at best. drinks are waaaaaay overpriced. and if the tide is out, it's a mudhole. i live on hhi, and this place is a joke. need to give these guys money? save a fortune at the restaurant, stop at sunoco and buy 2 24oz bud lights for $4, fire up sweet caroline on the ipod, drive through mickey dee's, and drive over to the salty dog "outlet" store on arrow rd

superb!! swordfish was fresh catch of the day. good size, very moist, fantastic flavor. others in the arty had seafood pot pie, seafood stir fry, crabcake sandwich, and vegetarian pasta. everyone agreed the food was very very good. service was fast and efficient. reasonably priced. good atmosphere

got what was expected. typical frozen imported fare. anyone expecting well cooked locally caught seafood should go elsewhere.

food was great but i left hungry or iam just fat very hot even though we ate inside service was bad also

as you may expect from seeing all the salty dog t-shirts, it is a tourist trap. the difference between this tourist trap and others is the food is actually good. my family thoroughly enjoyed it and we were kept cool the mist. great experience.

if you head to the salty dog cafe...ask for anatolyie. what an amazing service experience. you are at the cafe for the sake of going to the salty dog but people like analolyie make it 10x more enjoyable!

flounder and cheese grits. yum! the servers are pleasant and efficient and the flounder is great. a good "staple" restaurant for a seasonal visitor.

the ultimate tourist trap. from a local... i can say that there are much better choices for food. tripadvisor.com has realistic ratings systems by visitors and no opportunity to "stack the deck."

have to give the salty dog credit - they have convinced millions of people to buy the t shirt.
