met up to our expectations! having dine at esquina (sg) and 22 ships (hkg), i was looking forward to trying his new establishment on our trip to cebu.

service was immaculate from the cocktail bar to the main dining area. we chose to sit at the kitchen counter as always to view the action.

food - for 2 pax, we ordered 6 plates and 2 desserts, which was just right. complimentary seaweed crackers a nice touch as we wait for our 1st serving. pan con tomate was refreshing on the palate, a great match to the jamon and manchego croquettes. salt baked beetroot was unique but the goat cheese was a little too overwhelming for me and overshadowed the beetroot. i enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad, goes well with most mains. definitely recommend the old fashion pork terrine. we also had the angus ribeye, nothing too special so for my next visit i would try the pork belly or roast chicken.
dessert - baked 60% chocolate moelleux was superb. not too sweet and great cocoa taste. we also had the basil sorbet and yogurt mouse, again another good pairing of desserts.

will i go back again? most definitely yes.

we celebrated our company's christmas party at the pig & palm in cebu. it's owned by a michelin-starred chef jason atherton and his 16th restaurant around the world.

i was amazed by the chic and cozy ambiance of the restaurant. once you enter you feel a sense of posh and elegance of every furniture and decorations around the restaurant. he fused the usual filipino favorites with his spanish menu.

here are the dishes:
starters:
croquettes 💛💛💛💛💛
kinilaw 💛💛💛💛💛 it was sooo good plus the platting it was deliciously divine.
peas 💛💛💛💛
corn fritters 💛💛💛💛
foie gras burgers 💛💛💛💛💛
grilled squid 💛💛💛💛💛

main:
suckling pig 💛💛💛💛 the meat was tender but the skin wasn't as crunchy.
rib eye 💛💛💛💛💛

desserts:
choco meoleuex 💛💛💛💛💛 i love, love this dessert. heaven in my mouth.
basil sorbet 💛💛💛💛

overall our experience was delightful and we were full by the end of the night. it's a must try! your trip to cebu wouldn't be complete without trying this resto out.

one of my goals in life is to eat at (all) michelin-starred restaurant. here i tasted (as what my palate tells me) the best chicken karaage and coconut rice pudding in my life (yet). i don't think they are overpriced. i mean, hello? he's a michelin-starred chef. he's suppose to use the best and the highest quality ingredients. just saying. but really give this place a try. hehe. ✌💖

i don't mean to be rude. my palette may be compared to that of a peasant's/commoner, but when i order a 750 peso meal [take note, singular noun], i'd expect a meal that has big portions or [emphasizing that it doesn't have to be both] a dish that will blow my mind. on top of the expensive food, they'll also bill you for service charge. not saying their food was bad or that their service wasn't at par with other fancy restaurants here in cebu, but i swear you can find a better restaurant at cebu, heck, cebu business park for that matter, that has more bang for the buck than this place. if you like pretencious snotty food who just want to try out food from the head chef who is has a michelin star restaurant abroad, then by all means, try this place out. would i come back to eat here? only if i never have to pay for anythingn but even so, i wouldn't recommend at all.

it was a complete disaster dinner. .me and my husband just ended laughing when we are there, we ended in korean restaurant after having dinner in pig and palm to fill our tummy completely.
we’re hungry so in the menu there’s big plates and small plates selection, we order big plates menu. ..i got pan fried mullet. .it turns out it just a 2 small peace of white cheap tuna…it just very small and it’s belong in big plates dinner category. my husband had roasted suckling pork , it just a skin of rosted pig with no meat inside to eat…plus way to over price for nothing. .seriously like really?! that’s the expression when the food came . this restaurant is just full of menu decoration and way to over price and even you order 3 to 5 orders in their menu you can’t get full with it…it just so small serve with full of decoration. over all its a waste of money and time. well it’s just good for experienced to know about this restaurant.

this place is amazing! it is now my number one place in cebu, we sat at the counter and spoke to the chef who is from england and he really knew his stuff. he gave us a parrot fish dish which was new on the menu and it was the nicest fish dish i have had in cebu in all of my time here. we are booked to go back again next week with some collegues. a bit out of the way rounud the back of ayala but they have plenty of parking and trust me its worth a visit if you are looking for a proper dining experience.

the pig and palm is such a nice and classy restaurant. the food did not disappoint. my friend and i ordered karaage, tuna tataki and chicken tomahawk to share. all very very good and scrumptious! the drinks are really yummy too. the place is very well-designed. it is cozy but not cramped. such a wonderful dinner experience! 👌🏼

located in his filipina wife’s hometown in cebu, pig and palm is the latest restaurant by u.k. michelin-star chef jason atherton. i heard about it from a fellow blogger, and it had just opened when my family came to cebu for a wedding. the place was rustic-chic, and by reservation only.

the place

i like how this place is secluded. away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. what you would hear instead are the rustling of the bamboo trees outside. it's ideal for intimate moments like an anniversary dinner or as my friend would joke about, where you'd want to bring you "kabit" to.

the place is very clean. dim but well accentuated with subtle lights to give it a warm and private ambiance.

the only downside people may find is the restroom. it's a bit of a walk from the main restaurant. 5/5

the food

the food is good to great. i say 3 out of 5 dishes were great while the other 2 were just good. 4/5

the service

the service was fast. we were seated outside and they made sure someone was outside to keep watch in case we needed anything. 5/5

the value

well, we've kind of expected that it'd be a bit pricier than most restaurants given that the owner is a michelin starred chef. but i don't know, my expectations were not entirely met. maybe i was just expecting too much. i was hoping for jaw dropping, mind blowing moments. 4/5

the verdict
i would recommend this to people. it's a perfect place for intimate gatherings and for private moments. or if you just want some time alone, away from the troubles of the world.

it's one of those places you go at least once. food is ok but overpriced for sure. plus if you sit outside it's really hot like sweaty hot.
