the olde pink house

lick your plate good!. we had reservation at 5pm on a saturday while visiting savannah. i am sure if this restaurant were else where there would be a dress code - but unfortunately there were other dinners in jeans, shorts and flip flops. once you over look that - it is a great atmosphere. we had the shrimp and grits as a starter. they brought it out on two plates which was great since i might have eaten the entire thing otherwise. this dish was sooooogoodthat if it weren't for the white table cloths, i would have licked my plate clean. they brought out a bread basket as well. the yeast roll was ok - but the biscuits were the perfect combination of sweet and salty.
my husband had the pork shank - which was so big it resembled a flintstone dish. i had the ravioli - no chance of a to go bag needed. i eat every last bite.
our staff was very attentive and the bill was reasonable. they could charge more and get it.
we may just take the four hour drive from atlanta down there on a saturday just to eat there one weekend.

fun,goodexperience. went for a private party and the food, service and experience was great. we had a blast ~ they had a woman entertain us with singing and then they told us the history of the house. while the historic tales were a bit embellished, the food was not. nice menu, well prepared food, ambiance was period to the late 1700s and the service was spectactular. go, eat and enjoy.

stopped for lunch and i would say the service alone was worth the visit. gezpacho was excellent, fish tacos were alsogoodbut you have to assemble yourself so if you are dining with friends, might take away from your visit. would definitely go back!

not all it is hyped to be. i was planning an engagement dinner as part of a big surprise for my girl. she had never been to the pink house so i thought it would be fun. they simply would not help accommodate anything even though i had planned in advance and let them know the occasion for me. when it turned out that i would be around 15 minutes late they refused to budge on holding my table.

the pink house is over-hyped for what it is. don't get me wrong, the fried porkchop is spectacular but many of the menu items are just lacking and don't live up to the hefty price tag placed on them. i have rarely been to a restaurant where the service practically look down upon you as if you haven't the slightest clue of what dining is.
i have taken business customers to this establishment for dinner and the waiter was condescending and quite brusque with a french gent in our party that made a comment on a wine and what he wanted. his note on the origin of the grape and his preference for it was dead-on but the waiter disagreed (and was wrong about the origin).

the food isgoodbut not overly exquisite and there are plenty of options in savannah that offer a great experience. the history of the place and the downstairs vault and bar are unique but overall i think alligator soul, vic's, circa, brasserie 529, elizabeth's, and others are better.

let me start off by first stating that this is no elizabeth on 37th. this is a watered down version ( but the drinks arent!!!! :)))) ) i had the bone in ribeye - it had too much saucey sauce on it. my wife had the lobster tailarinos they were deep fried! it was similar to kfc/popeyes texture prettygoodnot great!

extremely average meal. she crab soup with very little crab and raw flour taste. caesar salad dressing tasted bottled. raw oysters weregoodand fresh. grouper was cooked correctly but the put on top of average plain mashed potatoes. sauce was ok but very plain.

believe me when i tell you any negative review is bunk. the service is great here, everyone is so thoughtful, true effort is put into training people properly. the pork shank with pineapple and collards is simply too much meat and really satisfying. but when it's thisgoodyou can't stop eating. at honest recommendation of our server, the pecan-crusted chicken is a better value than the ravioli. he was right. this airline (i call it frenched) cut is enveloped in perfectly nutty clothes, paired with what at first looks like a sweet potato quenelle. it's actually an artfully peeled, amazing small whole sweet potato. after these meals and two local drafts, i have no idea how we fit in ice cream later. i have not rated it as a 5.0 only because they don't put your napkin in your lap or use four servers per table. i have seen that one other time for twice as much $$. our bill was only $78. excellent experience for the price.

amazing dining experience lunch or dinner. for lunch they have an awesome hamburger, pork sliders, and their mac and cheese is sogood! for dinner had a ribeye and it was just perfect. the twice baked potato was so tasty. even my leftovers were good. impressed with the knowledge of our server. get a reservation though !!

you must go! romantic, historic, fun andgoodfood with fine old southern service! nice!

around entry/exit door need to be made more orderly. even
someone outside greeting or doing something to make a
wait more pleasant.

i recently went to the olde pink house with a group of my girl friends for a nice meal before an evening of libations and debauchery at my bachelorette party. we walked over to the restaurant from our hotel, and arrived a few minutes early for our reservation. while we were waiting on the front porch for our table to become available, jaylin (so sorry if i am butchering the spelling of your name!!), helped to keep us entertained by telling us all about the history of the house. he made our fifteen minute wait seem like five minutes. we had a great time talking to him outside before our meal.

this house is gorgeous on the inside, and we were seated upstairs. once we got to our table, our server promptly came by and welcomed us to the restaurant. throughout the course of the meal, we had probably five different servers that came by and made sure that our drinks were full and the table was cleared as plates became empty. jaylin even came back by to wish us agoodevening before he left at the end of his shift. everyone in our group was thoroughly impressed with the truly friendly and genuine nature of the staff.

we had a large group, and everyone enjoyed their meals. i had the roasted pork shank (per jaylin's recommendation), and it was incredible. i would highly recommend it to anyone in eating in the area (just come hungry, the portions were huge-- the pork shank was roughly 12oz).

my compliments to the staff at the olde pink house for making this one of the most enjoyable dining experiences of my life. great food, great staff, beautiful restaurant. don't miss this one!!

such a beautiful gorgeous building, dinner there felt very special. the food was delicious and the service polite and have us agoodhistory if the house. my only issue was that although the service excellent it was a little too efficient. we had barely finished our appetisers when the entrees came out. after that we were immoderately presented with the dessert menu. it wasn't a huge issue but i would have liked to take my time and enjoy the restaurant and the food and chat a bit between courses. no problems though as the started said to take our time looking around the restaurant and we did.
there is also a small late night bar in the basement you must go to. super cosy and there is a pianist.
i would 100% recommend

heard suchgoodthings about this restaurant. somewhat disappointed. no bread with meal, side dishes obviously plated in advances and served lukewarm (as in congealed grits; yuk). staff very attentive, but went for the food. would not go back.

did not live up to expectations,. i have visited savannah for years and lived here for the better part of 5 years, had always heard that the olde pink house was the best dining experience to be had. i was also told that the bar area was an intimate cozy room in which to dine (almost everyone recommended it and the menu is the same throughout the house.

although the house itself is wonderful the experience left me flat. we ordered appetizers and drinks which weregoodi must say. we then waited over an hour for our entrees which were disappointing at best. i had a filet which was ordered medium rare and came out severely overdone. it came with asparagus (two spears) and a smallish portion of mac and cheese which was very good. my wife's dinner arrived 5 minutes later with apologies but no explanation for the slow service nor the extra delay in her meal which was simply pasta and shrimp. this was my first opportunity to complain about the temperature of my meal, however at this point we were just ready to eat and get on with our evening. on this night the piano appeared to be wired into the speaker system and was extremely loud making conversation difficult...this may have been the exception rather than the rule.

i have never heard anything bad about the pink house, and am inclined to give them a break even though i di not feel compelled to return anytime soon. for the $150.00 we spend i know there are better dining options in savannah area. when my vacationing guests ask where to dine, i will simply leave this one off the list.

love this place!!. well i'm actually sitting currently at my table waiting for my check thegoodwas great we are from new york and was stationed in savannah due to army orders and we really missed the great eateries but once we came here no doubt we would come again. new york strop steak and mash was delicious cooked perfectly the mash was creamy and we'll seasoned the drinks were strong they didn't skip on the alcohol like some places do. lol. our favorite waiter is josh he is awesome and the manager holly was very inviting and professional and courteous. the restaurant is also very clean and beautiful a lot of history in the place you can even go for a little tour. i would not only recommend this place i would say go to definitely go..
