beer? check, bread pudding? check. i like beer. i like bread pudding. the oldmonkdelivers on both accounts. this is our default dessert place, but you have to order the bread pudding before 11 so be warned. get there early.

the pub with ambiance, and a patio to boot.  located on henderson avenue, the oldmonkis a great place to meet friends, to hang or catch up.  in addition to an awesome beer list, and full bar, themonkhas the best bar food i have found.  burgers, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, as well as appetizers, with some great vegetarian options.

i met a friend for dinner, and i started with a vegetarian lentil soup, which was light, but spicy.  for my entrée, i chose the vegetarian burger, which is made in-house, with lentils, bulgur wheat, leeks, mushrooms, corn, cashews & spices; with lettuce, tomato, red onion.  i would rank it as the most flavorful vegetarian burger i have found!

minus the louder music later in the evening, which i guess i can understand for the general public, the oldmonkis what a pub should be.

perfect superbowl spot!. had to fly in on superbowl sunday and was looking for a place to catch the game. oldmonkwas perfect! no parking hassles like there were in uptown, no cover for the game, no "special" buffet, plenty of big tv's , places to sit, great food and beer! i'd highly recommend it as the "secret" best spot to go to watch the game next year!

incredible pub!. simply put, this is an incredible pub! great beer selection, inviting atmosphere with good pub decor and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great food, good service and decent prices. what's not to like?

as for food, specifically, i had the mussels and frites accompanied by a lovely unfiltered wheat beer. there was also a small loaf of bread to sop up the mussel broth. were the frites double-fried? no, but they were still tasty. my only real quibble is i wish the bread was a little more rustic. other than that, it was excellent.

divine mussels and frites. it doesn't get any better than a good beer, some oldmonkmussels and frites, sitting on the patio, watching the henderson peeps go by.

miss it.. i lived in dallas for a year and hated almost every moment of it. i find that people think they are cool or something for living in dallas.. wake up this isnt la ok? anyway.. long story short, oldmonkis the one thing i miss. they have great beers on tap, the service is always amazing, and there pistachios chicken sandwich is one of the best things i have ever had. thank you oldmonkfor not sucking ass.

best pub grup in dallas. the oldmonkhas the best bar food in dallas. whether it's snacking on huge bowl of mussels or calamari while drinking or full on dinner, the food better than most dedicated restaurants. they've got a killer veggie ruben and a damn good veggie burger too. the smoked salmon sandwich is good an the fish n' chips is just about the best ive had in dallas. and for desert, the bread pudding will put you in a sugar coma. oh, and they've got a stellar french onion soup and i've heard that the guinness stew is good too.

they aren't open for lunch on the weekdays and they're absolutely swamped on weekend nights, but any other time it's a great place to eat and drink and drink. the covered and uncovered patios are great.

parking is limited, but better than most places in that neighborhood. if the lot is full you can valet it somewhere or just park down a side street and walk.
