beer? check, bread pudding? check. i like beer. i like bread pudding. the old monk delivers on both accounts. this is our default dessert place, but you have to order the bread pudding before 11 so be warned. get there early.

great mussels. this is a place i cant get enough of. i love the mussels and order them everytime i go there. they have great drinks and the atmosphere i love. it has that austin feel to it and i love it. people always seem to have a good time. i feel at times though the service is not par. sometimes it takes forever to get a refill on drinks but still worth the wait.

this is a great place to try unique burger combinations. there's a very relaxed 'local flair' atmosphere, so if you want to experience something 'texas', this is a great choice. the staff are also very friendly and willing to make things right if your order doesn't turn out well. if you're not a big beef burger fan, try the 'farmer joe and the fish' salmon burger. you can also try chicken or impossible burgers as well.

great place to have a drink and get a bite to eat. over 50 kinds of beer and good selection of whiskeys. the food is outstanding. best fish and chips in dallas. no gluten free bread options for burgers. need to make that available. everybody in our party enjoyed their meal. small children allowed until 7 pm.

the pub with ambiance, and a patio to boot.  located on henderson avenue, the old monk is a great place to meet friends, to hang or catch up.  in addition to an awesome beer list, and full bar, the monk has the best bar food i have found.  burgers, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, as well as appetizers, with some great vegetarian options.

i met a friend for dinner, and i started with a vegetarian lentil soup, which was light, but spicy.  for my entrée, i chose the vegetarian burger, which is made in-house, with lentils, bulgur wheat, leeks, mushrooms, corn, cashews & spices; with lettuce, tomato, red onion.  i would rank it as the most flavorful vegetarian burger i have found!

great atmosphere, servers are very polite and the building is very cool. wide variety of draft beers to choose from both local and not. definitely a place to stop while in dallas.

a dallas institution and been there as far as i can remember - well let's say over 12-14 years. nice patio to have a whisky or a brewsky.
can get a bit noisy and rowdy on a few nights.

what i mean by that is the staff seems to have worked here for years… very knowledgeable, great service. sort of like walking into cheers, but with a much better vibe and looks like an old school pub in the u.k..

a surprisingly good variety of food on the menu for a place that says they serve pub food, ranging from.eggs benedict to custom cheese boards, with a solid beer selection.

cozy, quaint, versatile pub with a great patio for dinner and drinks serving above average bar food. this is a great casual date restaurant, brunch on the patio place, or late night cheat day eats place.

sight- crowded on a saturday night. mixed crowd of couples, guys night out, and girls night out tables. old school setting with deep wood accents and chalkboard signage listing out rotational beer selection.

sound- music pumping, conversations would be tough for a table of 4.

tough- clean enough.

taste:

fish and chips- a staple of any pub. this version serves 3 big pieces of hand dipped flaky fish filets. not greasy and delicious. the chips are meaty and crispy. handmade tartar sauce is addicting.

loaded french fries- smothered in melted cheddar, these loaded fries are generously topped with crispy bacon and sprinkling of jalapenos. homemade ranch is ample and delicious.

had heard a lot about this place so ended up going on st. pattys day.. needless to say it totally full..we still managed to get an outdoor seating.. their craft beer was tasty. we didn't get around to eat any main course but they have good appetisers..

good food in a fun bar atmosphere. there's a nice patio. my husband and i went on a sunday afternoon. they have some nice brunch items but we opted for regular menu items. we started with the spicy tempura mushrooms which were very tasty and came with 2 dipping sauces. then i had the wurst board which was bratwurst, knockwurst with some great cheese and breads. it was very good. my husband had the fish and chips which had moist and flakey fish and a very good batter. they have a big selection of local and imported beers and a good selection of mixed drinks. we were too full for dessert. i recommend this quaint eclectic pub.

this place is consistent. best bruder basil burger in town (even though it may be the only one in town) and the cheese boards are always top notch.

will come back to this place as long as i live in dallas.

came back on 10/4/15 and had the turkey club. it's big enough for two. fries are great, as always. my only complaint about the club is it is so tall, that when you bite it the toast can scratch the top of your mouth. that will stay with you for days. it's happened on multiple occasions, only reason i mention it now.

my hotel guy told me tht people from far off places come to visit this bar. when i visited it i found out why. great ambience both at indoor n outdoor seating spaces. crowd is nice. food drinks all rate a or a+.

the atmosphere was great (we sat inside) but the drinks were just average and the service was a little slow. had the cheese fries with bacon which were good! the crowd was fun.

worst service ever. do not waste your time!
