the old monk

this is a great place to try uniqueburgercombinations. there's a very relaxed 'local flair' atmosphere, so if you want to experience something 'texas', this is a great choice. the staff are also very friendly and willing to make things right if your order doesn't turn out well. if you're not a big beefburgerfan, try the 'farmer joe and the fish' salmon burger. you can also try chicken or impossible burgers as well.

the pub with ambiance, and a patio to boot.  located on henderson avenue, the old monk is a great place to meet friends, to hang or catch up.  in addition to an awesome beer list, and full bar, the monk has the best bar food i have found.  burgers, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, as well as appetizers, with some great vegetarian options.

i met a friend for dinner, and i started with a vegetarian lentil soup, which was light, but spicy.  for my entrée, i chose the vegetarian burger, which is made in-house, with lentils, bulgur wheat, leeks, mushrooms, corn, cashews & spices; with lettuce, tomato, red onion.  i would rank it as the most flavorful vegetarianburgeri have found!

this place is consistent. best bruder basilburgerin town (even though it may be the only one in town) and the cheese boards are always top notch.

will come back to this place as long as i live in dallas.

came back on 10/4/15 and had the turkey club. it's big enough for two. fries are great, as always. my only complaint about the club is it is so tall, that when you bite it the toast can scratch the top of your mouth. that will stay with you for days. it's happened on multiple occasions, only reason i mention it now.

disappointing food. great place for beer but not for lunch. i had the vegetarianburger- very dry and somewhat tasteless. i had to flag down the waitress to get some mustard or mayo - ended up with horseradish sauce and i could barely tell that there was any horseradish in it. definitely not enough to give the food any taste. the fries were alright - but over all the food was extremely bland. my husband had a swiss cheese and mushroom burger. somewhat messy, but not especially tasty. not the best pub food around.

best pub grup in dallas. the old monk has the best bar food in dallas. whether it's snacking on huge bowl of mussels or calamari while drinking or full on dinner, the food better than most dedicated restaurants. they've got a killer veggie ruben and a damn good veggieburgertoo. the smoked salmon sandwich is good an the fish n' chips is just about the best ive had in dallas. and for desert, the bread pudding will put you in a sugar coma. oh, and they've got a stellar french onion soup and i've heard that the guinness stew is good too.

they aren't open for lunch on the weekdays and they're absolutely swamped on weekend nights, but any other time it's a great place to eat and drink and drink. the covered and uncovered patios are great.

parking is limited, but better than most places in that neighborhood. if the lot is full you can valet it somewhere or just park down a side street and walk.
