great place to have a drink and get a bite to eat. over 50 kinds of beer and good selection of whiskeys. thefoodis outstanding. best fish and chips in dallas. no gluten free bread options for burgers. need to make that available. everybody in our party enjoyed their meal. small children allowed until 7 pm.

the pub with ambiance, and a patio to boot.  located on henderson avenue, the old monk is a great place to meet friends, to hang or catch up.  in addition to an awesome beer list, and full bar, the monk has the best barfoodi have found.  burgers, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, as well as appetizers, with some great vegetarian options.

i met a friend for dinner, and i started with a vegetarian lentil soup, which was light, but spicy.  for my entrée, i chose the vegetarian burger, which is made in-house, with lentils, bulgur wheat, leeks, mushrooms, corn, cashews & spices; with lettuce, tomato, red onion.  i would rank it as the most flavorful vegetarian burger i have found!

what i mean by that is the staff seems to have worked here for years… very knowledgeable, great service. sort of like walking into cheers, but with a much better vibe and looks like an old school pub in the u.k..

a surprisingly good variety offoodon the menu for a place that says they serve pub food, ranging from.eggs benedict to custom cheese boards, with a solid beer selection.

goodfoodin a fun bar atmosphere. there's a nice patio. my husband and i went on a sunday afternoon. they have some nice brunch items but we opted for regular menu items. we started with the spicy tempura mushrooms which were very tasty and came with 2 dipping sauces. then i had the wurst board which was bratwurst, knockwurst with some great cheese and breads. it was very good. my husband had the fish and chips which had moist and flakey fish and a very good batter. they have a big selection of local and imported beers and a good selection of mixed drinks. we were too full for dessert. i recommend this quaint eclectic pub.

my hotel guy told me tht people from far off places come to visit this bar. when i visited it i found out why. great ambience both at indoor n outdoor seating spaces. crowd is nice.fooddrinks all rate a or a+.

perfect superbowl spot!. had to fly in on superbowl sunday and was looking for a place to catch the game. old monk was perfect! no parking hassles like there were in uptown, no cover for the game, no "special" buffet, plenty of big tv's , places to sit, greatfoodand beer! i'd highly recommend it as the "secret" best spot to go to watch the game next year!

incredible pub!. simply put, this is an incredible pub! great beer selection, inviting atmosphere with good pub decor and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great food, good service and decent prices. what's not to like?

as for food, specifically, i had the mussels and frites accompanied by a lovely unfiltered wheat beer. there was also a small loaf of bread to sop up the mussel broth. were the frites double-fried? no, but they were still tasty. my only real quibble is i wish the bread was a little more rustic. other than that, it was excellent.

disappointing food. great place for beer but not for lunch. i had the vegetarian burger - very dry and somewhat tasteless. i had to flag down the waitress to get some mustard or mayo - ended up with horseradish sauce and i could barely tell that there was any horseradish in it. definitely not enough to give thefoodany taste. the fries were alright - but over all thefoodwas extremely bland. my husband had a swiss cheese and mushroom burger. somewhat messy, but not especially tasty. not the best pubfoodaround.

great beers and good food. i think the title says it all. the beer is great and there are plenty of varieties to choose from. thefoodis original and tasty. the prices are a bit high, but it's a great place overall, so it's worth it. the only complaint i have is that they have been known to keep some strange hours on weekends and holidays - sometimes staying closed when everyone around them is open.

best pub grup in dallas. the old monk has the best barfoodin dallas. whether it's snacking on huge bowl of mussels or calamari while drinking or full on dinner, thefoodbetter than most dedicated restaurants. they've got a killer veggie ruben and a damn good veggie burger too. the smoked salmon sandwich is good an the fish n' chips is just about the best ive had in dallas. and for desert, the bread pudding will put you in a sugar coma. oh, and they've got a stellar french onion soup and i've heard that the guinness stew is good too.

they aren't open for lunch on the weekdays and they're absolutely swamped on weekend nights, but any other time it's a great place to eat and drink and drink. the covered and uncovered patios are great.

parking is limited, but better than most places in that neighborhood. if the lot is full you can valet it somewhere or just park down a side street and walk.
