the mussel & steak bar

i ate here in late february for my boyfriends birthday and thought it was amazing! was a lot more pricey than the usual places i eat in edinburgh, but i think it's because we chose the most expensive dishes on the menu! but it was worth it! we got the haggis wellington and goats cheese bon bons to start, so good! for main course my boyfriend had the mixed grill which he said was amazing, though a bit fiddly because some of theseafoodwas still in its shells. i had the 16oz rump steak and it was cooked to perfection! the staff were great aswell! if you get cold easily ask to be seated upstairs because we kept getting s breeze downstairs from when the door was open! love this restaurant for its food, service and decor! definitely recommend the haggis wellington, rump steak and the baileys cheesecake!

freshestseafoodin edinburgh at most affordable prices. grilled mussels with garlic butter that i could chomp off in literally 3 minutes. the utter sophistication of haggis wellington with that sensual whisky sauce makes you forget what the main part of this dish is the internal organs of a sheep. the sauce takes up the dish by whole new levels.

this place gives blankets while you sit outdoors in the evening, isn't that soo cute. the service was prompt and it's located at the most busiest turns of the city, where you can savor views while enjoying a hearty meal.

this was rated as the bestseafoodrestaurant in edinburgh.. so we decided to give it a try

amazing seafood! fresh and cooked to perfection. i had the cookedseafoodplatter and the broth was just too good.. i would recommend this place no worriers.

i went here for dinner last night. first time experience and was not disappoint. food was great. nice ambience. service and the staff was great and very friendly. definitely come here again and theseafoodplatter will definitely be my next choice :)

this definitely is one of my more preferred steak place. honestly, it's doesn't really have anything to do whether or not it is one of the best steak i've ever had. but actually, it has more to do with it having one of the most consistently reliably good steak. however, it'sseafoodplatter? not to keen on it...not at all.

one of my favourite places in edinburgh to come for lunch as the lunch is served until 5pm from fri-sun. so you can have a lazy day and always pop in for a nice meal. the staff is very friendly. they remember your face and always treat you like a friend. the place is busy most of the times but you can usually be seated without booking. during summer they have an outside seating which is great as grass market is well guarded from the wind. so you can sit there for hours enjoying the food and drinks. theirseafoodis my favourite, especially the mussels. while i tried the steak many times i think it's good but sometimes they could pay more attention to how you want it to be cooked. it happened to me twice that it was medium or medium well instead of medium rare which i then decided to return and they had no problem giving me a new steak. the second time it always came right. i also enjoy the starters. the brie tart  with cranberries is a delicacy while the soup of the day is always  home made and fresh. overall i recommend this place if you want to have a lazy lunch and spend at least an hour enjoying your meal.

whilst in edinburgh for the fringe the place was packed out. there was 4 of us and the staff in here managed to get us a really decent table. the staff were friendly and attentive, the place was packed. i had theseafoodlinguini which was full of flavor and quite a large portion. on of the party also had a steak which got the thumbs up. i was definitely impressed. the toilets were very clean and modern too. always a bonus.

great food, good service. didn't try the beef but i'd it's half as good as theseafoodthen will be awesome. would also reccommend the oysters.
