very impressive!. my husband i are not from the area, however, we looked online for a place to eat breakfast on sunday 2/15/2015. they had very good reviews and therestaurantlooked like a nice place. we were impressed from walking in the door. it was a warm inviting atmosphere. the hostess was very polite, the server was great and attentive. the food was wow! it was fresh, and both meals were very large portions, i personally enjoyed the coffee....the best ever at a restaurant! well worth the money in every regard. we had a brief chay with the manager and she was very nice as well. we decided that if we come anywhere near to north wales in the future this would be a place to go out of the way for. we absolutely give thisrestaurant5 stars!

our first visit was this evening.... the service was terrific! they accept reservations and we would recommend them as thisrestaurantis doing very well. their menu is huge and i guarentee that there is something for everyone. our drinks were perfect our spring roll sampler was terrific (buffalo chicken was my favorite), and the creamy tomato soup was a yummy update of an old favorite. we had the coconut chicken (chef special) and tuna steak and had to bring half home. omg.....what a great dinner and evening. we cannot wait to go back.....there are a lot of dishes we are looking forward to trying. you have to check this place out....many, many times. smh

dr. yvonne kaye. okay - so i already wrote a critique. as i am at the metropolitan at least once a week, either eating in or taking out, i am allowed. in any event, thisrestaurantdeserves another mention. my far better half is now housebound and can no longer go to restaurants, so he has never been here. however, he knows all about it and as his birthday is coming up you can be sure i'll be there taking out something spectacular. their soups are amazing,. last week we had asparagus and leek. i am drooling! arestaurantis only as good as its owners - jill and john really make one feel so welcome as do the rest of the staff. there are some first class restaurants in the area -
the metropolitan tops them all for a variety of reasons, variety being the operative word. we never get bored with the menu as the chef makes sure of that! we have our favourites but getting breakfast all day - what else is there in life? of course there are times one has to wait when they are busy so i can only assume that those who are negative either were in a hurry or had a bad day. this is not a fast food restaurant! so thank you again metropolitan where everybody knows my name - cheers! see you tuesday!

dr. yvonne kaye. absolutely my favouriterestaurantand the staff............excellent and firstclass. the manager (?) jill - and if she isn't she should be - is so very professional. she really cares about her patrons, has a lovely personality and has always made my guests and me feel welcome. she is really dedicated to this restaurant. the menu is delicious and i do have favourites i have never had a less than excellent meal. being a 'breakfast person' the fact that i can have breakfast all day really endears the menu to me, the soups? phenomenal. i salivate at the prospect of minestrone being the soup of the day! i would like the spinach au gratin to reappear on the menu. yummy. i purchased a lot of gift cards this christmas - the easier gift buying i have had ever! what was lovely was that everyone who received a gift card said the same thing. 'i love that place'. same goes for me. i'll be back....often. it's like cheers where everybody knows your name!

this place is my cheers. it's awesome when you find a place like this. let's begin: 1) the staff are amazing. whoever trained them must have been hired from some top endrestaurantbecause they're attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and well kept. they're some of the best waiters and waitresses i've had the pleasure of dealing with. 2) excellent atmosphere. clean, well laid out, private but not like you're boxed-in. just a nice contemporary design 3) the food: huge menu and having come here literally dozens upon dozens of times, i've only ever had one meal that wasn't amazing. this place blows my mind. the food is well plated and tasty, across the board. 4) prices: i brunt my girlfriend here often and with drinks, appetizer and two meals you'll probably spend about $30. ok, $30's not the "cheapest" in the area, right? but if you consider all of the above, it's incredibly cheap. this place is of such a quality i'd be willing to pay double what they're charging. i just can't say enough.

we needed thisrestauranthere!. we stopped here for a late night snack on monday, coincidentally, the first full day they were open. we were absolutely delighted with the place. it's got great ambience! we had the delicious and satisfying chicken soup, truffled house-made potato chips with gorgonzola, and goat cheese and artichoke dip accompanied by their wonderful crusty complimentary bread and crocks of sweet butter. we were in heaven to find a place like this that is open late, has imaginative well-prepared food, allows you to order anything on the menu anytime, is not a chain, and has many selections that fall within the $5 to $15 range. i hope they are very successful!

give it a try. it's a really great place. i'm surprised to see that it's only on 54% at the moment! we live locally and end up there far too often. it's the easiest place to meet people not so familiar with the area being a dominating presence in west didsbury, but also great for the numerous open fires, decent selection of real ales, great ambience, staff, wasabi peanuts... etc.

i love the way it's been kitted out, lots of nice old furniture, book cases to separate sections but also lots of space between tables in most places.

the food comes in 3 varieties i think. there's the bar menu for the day, the evening menu in the bar - i've never managed to catch this, it's something like 6-7:30pm -and finally therestaurantmenu. the food at therestaurantis great - not too expensive, good range and high quality. the specials change relatively frequently too.

i do tend to avoid it a bit on friday and saturday evenings when it always seems to be totally rammed in the bar, overflowing onto the street to be mopped up by an enormous queue of taxis..

other downside would be price of drinks, it is probably steeper than some, but not all, of the surrounding bars. perhaps this would put me off if i was going with a bunch of people for cocktails, but for a few pints etc. it's no big deal.

i have had a lot of opportunities to ask things of the staff and they have been very helpful. perhaps the only other thing worth a mention is the wifi -recently i have had trouble connecting to it when i've been down there, but it's free and helped us a lot when we were just moving in!
