the metropolitan

always a great meal!!. my fiance and i discovered the metropolitan about a year ago and it has now become one of our favorite places to eat! we stop by at least two weekends a month for breakfast--the coffee is great, and the bread/rolls are always so fresh! themenuis pretty extensive and there is something for everyone--my fiance loves the breakfast all day and i'm a sucker for the turkey club..the mayo is awesome! be sure to try this place out!!

good food, excellent service, great location. we have eaten many times at the metropolitan, and have never been disappointed. themenuis good the service is excellent, and w always enjoy the atmosphere and dining experience. we have eating here since it opened, and whenever we are asked by friends "shere shall we eat", and i reply "the metropolitan near costco" they always know what it is, and are happy that i picked it. join their frequent diner club and you will be surprised at how quickly you wind up with a "comped' meal.

our first visit was this evening.... the service was terrific! they accept reservations and we would recommend them as this restaurant is doing very well. theirmenuis huge and i guarentee that there is something for everyone. our drinks were perfect our spring roll sampler was terrific (buffalo chicken was my favorite), and the creamy tomato soup was a yummy update of an old favorite. we had the coconut chicken (chef special) and tuna steak and had to bring half home. omg.....what a great dinner and evening. we cannot wait to go back.....there are a lot of dishes we are looking forward to trying. you have to check this place out....many, many times. smh

best around!. hands down- the best food andmenuin the montgomeryville surrounding area. while it's a casual atmosphere the quality of food is that you'd find at a high end restaurant, without the high prices. this place has something for everyone! we've become regulars, and the reward club is great!

awesome. this place was excellent. we had a party of 17 with children, a birthday celebration for my husband. the food was plentiful and tasty. themenuis superb, there are sooooo many options.them there was our waitress rachel she was great, she knew the menu, was funny and very patience with our rowdy bunch. she even gave us background on the history of the place. kudos to rachel and the metropolitan......well definitely be back.

dr. yvonne kaye. okay - so i already wrote a critique. as i am at the metropolitan at least once a week, either eating in or taking out, i am allowed. in any event, this restaurant deserves another mention. my far better half is now housebound and can no longer go to restaurants, so he has never been here. however, he knows all about it and as his birthday is coming up you can be sure i'll be there taking out something spectacular. their soups are amazing,. last week we had asparagus and leek. i am drooling! a restaurant is only as good as its owners - jill and john really make one feel so welcome as do the rest of the staff. there are some first class restaurants in the area -
the metropolitan tops them all for a variety of reasons, variety being the operative word. we never get bored with themenuas the chef makes sure of that! we have our favourites but getting breakfast all day - what else is there in life? of course there are times one has to wait when they are busy so i can only assume that those who are negative either were in a hurry or had a bad day. this is not a fast food restaurant! so thank you again metropolitan where everybody knows my name - cheers! see you tuesday!

dr. yvonne kaye. absolutely my favourite restaurant and the staff............excellent and firstclass. the manager (?) jill - and if she isn't she should be - is so very professional. she really cares about her patrons, has a lovely personality and has always made my guests and me feel welcome. she is really dedicated to this restaurant. themenuis delicious and i do have favourites i have never had a less than excellent meal. being a 'breakfast person' the fact that i can have breakfast all day really endears themenuto me, the soups? phenomenal. i salivate at the prospect of minestrone being the soup of the day! i would like the spinach au gratin to reappear on the menu. yummy. i purchased a lot of gift cards this christmas - the easier gift buying i have had ever! what was lovely was that everyone who received a gift card said the same thing. 'i love that place'. same goes for me. i'll be back....often. it's like cheers where everybody knows your name!

we love this place!!!. we look forward to every visit to the metropolitan american diner & bar. themenuhere is so impressive and goes from breakfast to dinners. every time we eat here the food is better than my previous visit. the boneless wings are a must have, nice & moist breast meat in a very good and not to spicy buffalo sauce. we have had some of the best hamburgers here also, moist and there are so many to choose from. i had the scallops for dinner on my last visit there. it comes with a cajun lobster newburg sauce for dipping, which is very tasty. i always ask for a side of butter as well, which they had no problem sending out to me. one special thing to know of here is their "metropolitan member card." on your first visit ask them for one of their cards. they always ask you any way....but make sure you fill this card out and turn it in. the card will give you a 10% reward value on your card for your next visit back. you can also choose to save the rewards for a visit in the future, but every time you eat there and give them your card you get your 10% reward. i love the metropolitan!

service was ok, food was not the best.. i have been absent from this venue for about 8 years and the last occassion was extremely good (food and experience). anyway, i brought my partner and our child (6 years old) here last night and from the outside, it looked very atmospheric. we were sat down at our table promptly and ordered some drinks without any issue. themenuwasn't very wide ranging, but was ok.

we ordered the sausage and mash kid's meal (peas and gravy included) for our daughter. our starters consisted of: a potato and leek soup, which was rather overcooked (the essential fresh flavours of the leek and potato was lost in the blended broth); and fish cakes for the missus- which she described was 'ok', but rather overpowered by the cooked smoked salmon inside.

we were asked whether we wished for our kid's meal to arrive at the same time as our starter (the kid'smenudoes not include a starter)- this arrived whilst we were nearly finished with our starters. we had no issues at this point, as we were having fun trying to ask our child to try each of our starters (she preferred the fried fish cakes, obviously!)

the kid's sausages and mash arrived and it looked fantastic. we usually struggle to get our daughter to finish her meal and whilst this plate looked like it could feed a teenager, she had no trouble devouring the whole lot. it did look rather good!

ten minutes after the kid's meal arrived, our mains of 'steak of the day' arrived. from the first moment of looking at it, i had reservations... the chips looked like it is very crispy- the sense that it had been refried a couple of times came to mind. there was a mushroom, watercress garnish and roasted tomato halves (which was quite sweet, from the white wine vinegar / oregano). the steak (requested medium rare) was well seasoned, but black on the outside. it was a generous piece of meat but rather over-grilled! between myself and my partner, one of us had jaw-ache after completing the meal! we know that we had the right for it to be redone, but we're not the complacent type in restaurants and this was half past eight at night (our last meal was breakfast). i believe between us, we had one mouthful from each of our steaks which we could describe as medium / medium rare... the rest was just badly overcooked. our two sauces: stilton / peppercorn were rather salty, but they did, at least carry the flavours they were supposed to be.

our daughter finished the meal with a two-scoop ice cream, which she enjoyed with the strawberry garnish.

wine: pinot noir (gran reserva 2010 from chile?)... for a gran reserva, it was rather estringent and hard, but we finished the whole bottle, nontheless.

bill came to £72, which, if we had made better choice of foods would not be too bad at all- we left a tip. even though we did not enjoy the food too well, the kid's meal did keep our child's bum on chair instead of the usual 'please eat your food' pleas... worth the tip!

atmosphere was overall good.

kid's experience: 7/10
adult's experience: 5 1/2 out of ten.

every visit is better than the last. my wife and i stumbled upon this place last september (2011). sooooo glad we did. the staff is friendly and attentive. themenuofferings are as varied as you can imagine. the difficult part is deciding what to choose from. note: if you love crab - try the mac and cheese with crab. unimaginable pleasure! we've visited the metro 4 times since our initial trip and brought friends with us the last time. they'll be back too. keep up the good work!

great find. i went to the metro four times and will continue to return - with more people. the diner is clean and pleasant. the wait staff is excellent as well as the food, as well as the price. themenuchoices are extensive and interesting.

this place is my cheers. it's awesome when you find a place like this. let's begin: 1) the staff are amazing. whoever trained them must have been hired from some top end restaurant because they're attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and well kept. they're some of the best waiters and waitresses i've had the pleasure of dealing with. 2) excellent atmosphere. clean, well laid out, private but not like you're boxed-in. just a nice contemporary design 3) the food: hugemenuand having come here literally dozens upon dozens of times, i've only ever had one meal that wasn't amazing. this place blows my mind. the food is well plated and tasty, across the board. 4) prices: i brunt my girlfriend here often and with drinks, appetizer and two meals you'll probably spend about $30. ok, $30's not the "cheapest" in the area, right? but if you consider all of the above, it's incredibly cheap. this place is of such a quality i'd be willing to pay double what they're charging. i just can't say enough.

well executed upscale diner fare. the title says it all. i was pleasantly surprised that this hollihan's replacement locally sources much of its menu. notably they fail to mention this on the website.

bread baked in lansdale at the hearth baker, lancaster free range chicken, esposito meats. well, they could drop the mention of hatfield but a lll in all very well done service, food and presentation rather late on a sunday evening. had the turkey club and avocado gorgonzola burger. kid friendly, $ 5.00menualso.

this has become one of our local favorites and much needed in an area full of chains! the food is great and themenucreative & unique. great for a delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner. also a satisfying go to for a late night snack. they use local vendors which i love and the staff is great.

awesome across the board. everything from the food to the service was great. saw bad comments on here- but i've been there about a dozen times and it's all been spot on. the food is always fresh and hot, and the portion sizes are large- i always end up taking home extras. it's close to home, great extensivemenuand open late. drinks specials are awesome. not like anything in the area- i've been super impressed so far!

awesome all around. metropolitan diner is an awesome family owned restaurant. while themenucan be a little overwhelming, there is something for everyone. from the turkey club to the scallop sliders, eggs benedict ,create your own mac and cheese, kettle chips or duck spring rolls the preparation and presentation is spectacular. for starters, just try the fresh brewed iced tea or coffee and you will know that you are in for a real treat. anyone who does not like the food here is clueless.
