very precisely cut pieces of apples, bread, broccoli and cauliflower in bowls were placed on the table to be dipped in a melted fontina cheese sauce (mustardy with some garlic in there too).

very accomodating and great ladies night out!. my two friends and i were lucky to get a late reservation for the melting pot's girls night out last night and we had a wonderful time! our reservations were very late but they still made us feel very welcome. the manager overheard us being extremely indecisive about what cheese to get and offered to move us to a bigger table so that we could get two different cheeses. what a way to start off! our waiter's name was graysen and he was just so sweet. he was extremely patient and almost overattentive. we could hardly believe he was a brand new server! just such a wonderful restaurant for a good conversational night out. we will definitely be back next month for their ladies night out!

best valentine's night ever. my husband and i were lucky enough to get a table this past saturday night as they were extremely busy and we had no reservation. the hostesses were very friendly and right off the bat assured us they were working on accommodating us. our waitress was lauren and she was just great! brought food to us always at the right time and was just very personable and friendly. we had a lovely bottle of their kendall-jackson grand reserve. we met the owner jason, who actually stopped by several times to see that we were having the perfect night. all in all, it was just a fantastic evening and we will be sure to visit next time we are in town.

best valentine's day ever. for valentine's day, my boyfriend wanted to take me to the melting pot, after hearing so many good things about it. when we looked online at the menu, i was hesitant about going because of the price for the fixed menu. but i am oh so glad that he talked me into going. the service was great, the food was amazing! our waitress was so nice and friendly and it was an unforgettable experience. i plan to go back in the future

parents night out!. my husband and i love fondue and have have eaten 3 different melting pot's around the country. i can honestly say the savannah melting pot topped them all. we were visiting family in town and my husband and i decided to have a date night, while my inl-aws watched the children. we were seated promptly in a booth set for two. on our table was a rose from my husband, which started the evening off perfectly. we ordered what they call the big night out, changing it up a little to suit our tastes. there was plenty to eat, but we made sure we saved room for there famous flaming turtle for dessert! the evening was filed with delicious food, conversation, excellent service and a fabulous dessert. with two small children at home it was great to sit down for a meal that was not rushed, but instead relaxing as well as entertaining! thank you for a great date night, we will be back!

great family dinner!. my wife and i are avid diners and she recently encouraged me to start writing on urbanspoon because this is how we hear of many of the restaurants that we go to. my reviews are typically brief but i am not sure how it would be possible to write a "brief" review of the melting pot. first of all, i have dined at many melting pot's in the past but none have quite compared to our experience at the new savannah location. having family in town for the holidays, my wife wanted a break from cooking and made a reservation for 12 on a busy weekend night. we arrived a bit early for our reservation time but were fortunately sat within just a few minutes. the hostesses were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. just as our friends and family were beginning to become overwhelmed with the menu our server, loren, was there to answer all of our questions.we mentioned that we had had some appetizers not too long beforehand so loren recommended that 3 of their big night out selections would surely satisfy everyone's appetite and that we would all receive the full melting pot experience. it is so rare that a server is honest about the portions and actually tries to save you some money. we appreciated this more than anything because her recommendations were plentiful and extremely reasonably priced. the cheese was fantastic and she made sure to keep extra bead and whatnot flowing. there was a bit of a back up at the bar, and both loren and the owner were extremely apologetic and accommodating. make sure to clear your schedule for a few hours if you plan on dining here and keep in mind that each course is brought out at the pace that you are eating. you simply cannot have your entree while you are still on your appetizer. it seems that some diners may overlook this. overall, we had an exceptional evening and will surely return again.

melting pot-"cheesy". this establishment will not be there this time next year. the service was terrible the food mediocre and i have never seen a restaurant in the us add so many questionable things to the bill, they charged for oil, heating the oil, bringing the pots to the table, they even charged for the splash of cranberry in my mixed drink-they also automatically added the tip for a table of four. i get the fundue concept but the execution there is lacking and they are trying to improve their profits through questionable billing practices. very "cheesy".

loved it!. we had a party of eight for dinner. we had called and spoke to a friendly hostess for our reservation. upon our arrival, we were met by a lovely hostess and shown to our table. we were concerned about having a larger than normal party, but our seating accommodations were perfect. they actually have an area where they remove a discreet wall, bringing an area together that seats eight or ten very comfortably. they also have some other rooms that accommodate larger parties. sam was our waiter and he was fantastic! we were completely blown away with the menu, it offered so much variety. sam helped us to determine what we wanted and then he took care of everything. we never had to ask for refills or additional side items, he always anticipated and fulfilled our every want before we could ask for it. the entire evening was incredible and relaxing, we never felt rushed. my suggestion to anyone would be give this restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed. this is fine dining at its best- savannah is lucky to have the melting pot. please have a love martini and the disaronno meltdown dessert for me!

great ladies night!. i came here with 6 friends on monday for ladies night...it was surprisingly the first time that they've done ladies night at this melting pot and it was fantastic! a friend of mine suggested getting a group of girls together (many of whom didn't know each other), and this gave us a great opportunity to get to know one another. lauren was our server and was wonderful! she actually helped sparked some conversation amongst all of us and gave us things to talk about.
the concept of ladies night is a great deal...$22 included plenty of cheese, a great salad, and plenty of chocolate for dessert. none of us could believe when the owner actually came over to see how we were doing and offered us a free martini that was out of this world!
we will definitely be back!

great idea....great night...great food. i wanted something different. i wanted good food and great atmosphere. i wanted 3 hours to eat, drink, talk, and geniunely enjoy myself. the melting pot is exactly what i wanted and what i got! i think the owners and the staff are very professional. the fondue experience was so exciting and so unique. the food was fresh and flavorful. the ability to prepare your food exactly as you want is fantastic. i highly recommend the melting pot for a very different dining experience. if you want to feel great about $50 a person for an exciting meal without a stuffy or obnoxious environment, this is the place. if you are looking for a cheap and uneventful meal, try the golden corral!

treated like royalty.... my family and i recently ate at the newly opened melting pot and our experience was amazing. when we initially entered the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the owners and a hostess staff. they very promptly took us to our table. we were then welcomed by our server with in a few minutes time. as we looked through the menu we were initially overwhelmed with the choices, but our server went through them and made many great suggestions for the 5 of us to choose from. once we ordered the presentation began and what a fabulous presentation it was! we orderded the 4 course meal, which if it is your first time there i highly recommend. the first course, which was the cheese fondue, was absolutely delicious! we then received our salads which were very fresh and crisp. the third course was the entree, we chose several different meats and fish. this was unbelievable as well. one of the great things about the entree is that they have other healthy options to cook in other than oil and the flavor is to die for! of course the best part of the whole meal is the dessert and i would make a suggestion that you wear loose clothing because you won't be able to stop yourself from eating all this amazing food. in addition to the divine food, the owner and manager stopped at our table throughout the night to check in on us and make sure we were enjoying our evening. the melting pot in savannah is one of the best restaurants that we have been to as far as customer service and food quality. i would suggest making reservations, they are booking up fast!

manager needs an attitude adjustment. my husband and friends surprised me for my birthday because i have always loved the melting pot and one finally opened in savannah. we were a party of 10 and it was a saturday night, but the service was slower than it should've been; we sat with dirty plates and empty drinks between each course and all in all the meal took about 5 hours, which i've never experienced there before. when we tried to bring this to the manager's attention, he immediately started arguing with us (and denied he was doing so) and implied that the only problem we really had was with the bill, that when he checked with us at 9 pm everyone was "happy go lucky". never mind that we were happy we'd finally been served the main course (after having been seated since 7:15) and it was now 11:15 when we were finally able to find someone to talk to. the manager never apologized (to the waitress' credit she was very nice and when she was there was very pleasant), continued to talk back to us, and had a blatant disregard for customer service. again, it's understandable to have a long meal now and again, but we shouldn't have to beg for drink refills, extra dipping items, side items (extra condiments had to be requested 3 and 4 times before appearing on the table), etc.

altogether an unacceptable customer service experience and i do not recommend going there.

it's about the concept, not the cuisine. service: a
food: c+

had dinner here with a three friends last night. service was attentive, but you either love the concept or you don't. for me it was more about the social interactions than the food.

the cheese fondue course was tasty, but cooking the meat during the main course was tedious. the 2.5 minute cooking time they suggested was not adequate. things came out undercooked and had to go back in more times than not. if you are the least bit queasy about food prep, then don't eat here.

the chocolate course at the end was the star. i would say this is a great place to go for desert after a show at the lucas. unfortunately they close at 10 pm.

also don't be fooled into ordering individual portions. the meat set-ups are enough for two.

price wise it is very expensive. unfortunately this does not translate into value. there are much better meals to be had in savannah for the same money where an expertly trained chef prepares it for you (noble fare, eos, cafe 37, local 1011.) let's not lose sight of the fact that you are basically eating deep fried meat.

warning! warning! beware of the wine pricing. they are shamelessly gouging. for example they offer 7 deadly zins by the glass for $12.00. the entire bottle goes for $11 in the supermarket!

knowledgeable "foodies" will spend their money elsewhere. bottom line: "been there, done that, don't need or want to do it again."
