make soup with love please. above the cooler behind the bar was a chalkboard that said "make soup, not love". from the food, you can definitely tell there was no love in the preparation of it.

all the dishes were something we could have made at home. the pomme puree was chunky, dry and undersalted. i actually stole the butter from the bread and mixed some in because it was like eating dry plain mashed potatoes. the lamb was the underseasoned and overcooked. the bread came cold and from what looked like an ikea laundry wicker basket from the middle of the room.

the service was cold and a bit odd. we were asked "so what do you want for dinner kids?" (we're far from kids and found that condescending), and when the check came, she basically threw it on the table as she walked by. speaking of staff, there seemed to be more staff than customers there, and it was uncomfortable when they're all at the bar talking and laughing together when you're sitting in an empty restaurant.

the hostess however was really nice. all in all, not worth the price, your money is better spent elsewhere.

disappointed. we have wanted to try the marc so we went for lunch. this was a mistake. from a really dried out tart with a undressed salad to a unflavored piece of tuna with a overpowering lemon sauce that hide the fishy taste. overall dissapointing and i think the chef needs to redo the whole menu.

my partner and i were a little disappointed with the food at the marc. we both wanted to go and see what new adventure the owners were going on. we started with the tart. there was no cheese, mushrooms over powered the whole thing and the pastry was so dry that we were drinking water after every bite. the fish of the day ( why someone still calls it that) had a very fishy taste but the citrus sauce overpowered any fishiness or any taste of the fish itself. the flat iron steak was good but the fryes were the best part. i personally think the chef needs to revamp the menu 100%, just a thought. i would not recommend this restaurant to any other chefs out there. we support the owners but you need a chef that concentrates on the ingredients by not covering them up with overpowering sauces or not adding flavor at all, the tart.
good luck. we will try the evening menu one all the kinks are out

excellent before the theatre. fantastic new restaurant in a city bereft of the same. simple elegant decor and very engaging waitstaff. food was excellent. duck breast was the best i've ever had and my wife's lamb shank was superb. the beneights for dessert were awesome. great wines and available by the glass. thank goodness someone in edmonton is still trying to present an excellent dining experience..

charles and i visited the marc yesterday evening. arriving a little before our 8pm reservation, we were warmly greeted by owner doris saurette and then led to our table by the window after hanging our jackets at the front. as others have described , the r

great french bistro. a great dining experience. top notch service, great food and nice ambience. the menu is a riff on what you might expect in a french cafe with choices like cassoulet, duck confit, and moules frites and the steak tartare was better than anything i've had in paris. a great addition to the edmonton restaurant scene.

while i lament the closing of the krua willai on 106 street, i have to say that the marc is a very nice replacement. gone are the plastic flowers, stained ceiling and horrendous path to the bathrooms; in their place are dazzling light fixtures, monster mi

the marc. i must say that my expectations (previous manager of il portico) fell rather short. i ordered the croque monsieur which comes with a side of greens. what i received were two measly little slices of french bread topped with some ham and cheese and a couple of, close to rotting, lettuce leaves and 2 slices of tomato and nary a hint of dressing. all this for the princely sum of $11.

my lunch mate ordered red snapper with potatoes and carrots. the snapper looked almost grey from where i was sitting and the potatoes looked like the were reheated from a few days ago.

sadly, i cannot recommend this bistro. too bad, the hopes were high.
