best sliders, customer service lacking. i have eaten at the local cow 5 times. i've had all the different fries (great) but i always order the sliders, never disappointed in the wonderful flavor. my complaint is in how i am treated by the staff. i don't expect to be seated, or even greeted, but the waitress never looks me in the eye when i order, she just looks off into the distance, as if she's really not interested in me being there. the owners (i know who they are) act in the same not interested way. is this a gresham "cool young people" kind of thing, or are they just not very polite? i'm not a cool young person, but how i am treated affects my enjoyment of my meal and what i tell my friends about the local cow. i wish that i could say that theplacewas awesome in every way, but they need to treat their customers better!

in the moo'd for the local cow. hello, this is justin with grub mafia food reviews. my offering to the god of culinary delights today is the local cow restaurant. as i walked through historic downtown gresham, i noticed that many new businesses have sprouted since my absence. local cow restaurant was one of them that caught my eye, because who doesn't like a good cheeseburger? the decor is simple, and there is a pretty laid back atmosphere, which seemed to me like it would be a perfect fit for the alberta, kerns, or hawthorne districts. there is a bar there, because what goes good with a burger? a beer to wash it down-and they offer local craft beers at that. right off the bat, i was warmly welcomed, and seated-which is always a plus in my book. i just hoped that the food would be as good. when i received the menu, there was a large assortment of gourmet-style burgers to choose from. i picked the rockwood, which is a cheeseburger with deep fried cherry peppers(kind of like onion straws, but with a kick), and fresh guacamole. the burger is served with tim's cascade chips (a local company), and their garlic fries with parmesan and truffle oil are amazing; the bun is not too heavy; the meat tastes fresh, with little seasoning-keeping the essence of that beef flavor; the cheese did not encumber the meat; and the ingredients were all local. in my opinion, this is what burger places aspire to become-making the perfect burger, but the local cow got it right. the only negative aspect in my experience, was that the burger is a bit smaller than i am used to. the food culture in the united states is always about big, but i could get used to eating a modest sized burger, because it actually filled me up, and it was delicious. definitely seek thisplaceout, because it is worth every penny. you'll leave happy, and will want to come back for more.

i hope that this review was insightful, and helpful to the people who spend their hard earned cash looking for a great meal. my reviews are for you.

theplaceis done simply, but that's fine, makes for a quietplaceto actually sit and talk while enjoying a good meal. food is good, but over priced. service is alright, but that may be because of the female manager who doesn't know how to treat people, whether it's her staff or the customers that come into the place. have witnessed her yelling and belittling her staff and calling customers names. while i no longer eat at this establishment, i am still subject to her since i frequent the hoppy brewer next door, and they have an outside area next to tlc.

food ok/service horrible. after being left on hold, toplacea to go order, for over 7 minutes i wanted to give them a chance so i called back; never got even a cursory apology but instead, from placing the order through picking it up, the waitress was rude and acted like she was doing me a huge favor. left me feeling like i was putting her out and wasting her time. the burger was ok, i have ordered from there before, but this was the last straw there are to many other good burgers in the area to be treated badly just to get one. i won't be bothering her again nor will i recommend them to anyone else.

not the best experience, but good food. good food, good prices, kid friendly and understaffed. our family rarely goes out because we have some people with celiac disease in our family. the local cow has gluten free buns for their burgers and gluten free beer as well. the food was really good and the kids loved their little theatre game thing they had on the tv. however, the service was not very good. the waitress seemed annoyed with our questions, which i understand, but with celiac disease being a very serious disease we have to make sure that there is no gluten in any bbq sauce, chips etc. it was busy at the time, but there needs to be some patience when dealing with food allergies. otherwise, you can lose a lot of customers. to top it off, when our kids got their hotdogs (which we had told the waitress no buns since they couldn't have gluten either) the hot dogs came with buns. we just took the buns off (even though we should have told them to remake the hot dogs...yes with celiac you have to be that strict) but instead we decided to let it slide this time. they are understaffed there and really need to get another waiter in there. in the waitresses defense, she seemed to be doing two peoples jobs and was bussing tables, taking orders, delivering food and checking on customers. had they had enough people working, we probably wouldn't have felt like we were that annoying customer everyone hates. i really would like to see thisplacesucceed since we did enjoy our time there and i can see it being a success, but it will be difficult for us to feel safe going there if the people working there aren't sure what's in the bbq sauce and teriaki sauce etc and then mess up our order when we have serious food allergies. other than the obviously understaffed restraunt and the food issues, it was a great place. i'm hoping if we make it in there again it will be a better experience.
