in the moo'd for the local cow. hello, this is justin with grub mafia food reviews. my offering to the god of culinary delights today is the local cow restaurant. as i walked through historic downtown gresham, i noticed that many new businesses have sprouted since my absence. local cow restaurant was one of them that caught my eye, because who doesn't like a good cheeseburger? the decor is simple, and there is a pretty laid back atmosphere, which seemed to me like it would be a perfect fit for the alberta, kerns, or hawthorne districts. there is a bar there, because what goes good with a burger? a beer to wash it down-and they offer local craft beers at that. right off the bat, i was warmly welcomed, and seated-which is always a plus in my book. i just hoped that the food would be as good. when i received the menu, there was a large assortment of gourmet-style burgers to choose from. i picked the rockwood, which is a cheeseburger with deep fried cherry peppers(kind of like onion straws, but with a kick), and fresh guacamole. the burger is served with tim's cascade chips (a local company), and their garlic fries with parmesan and truffle oil are amazing; the bun is not too heavy; the meat tastes fresh, with little seasoning-keeping the essence of that beef flavor; the cheese did not encumber the meat; and the ingredients were all local. in my opinion, this is what burger places aspire to become-making the perfect burger, but the local cow got it right. the only negative aspect in my experience, was that the burger is a bit smaller than i am used to. the food culture in the united states is always about big, but i could get used to eating a modest sized burger, because it actually filled me up, and it was delicious. definitely seek this place out, because it is worth every penny. you'll leave happy, and will want to come back for more.
i hope that this review was insightful, and helpful to the people who spend their hard earned cash looking for a great meal. my reviews are for you.
