the ambience sold it for me. with classicrumcocktails and hard to find caribbean local beers, the bar is great for an after work drink.

tip-try the cocktail with cinnamon sticks.
the bar tenders roast the sticks with a gasoline flame and stick it in the glass..flame it on the bar!

we came here due to a urbanlist review of best mulled wines...however came disappointed as they no longer served it (my mistake as the review was 2016 and obviously outdated!) but the waitress was quite apologetic despite it not being her fault... she was able to recommend a similar but different alternative - the old grogram which had cinnamon, lemon and flames!
also had the raspberry cobbler#2 (being a tequila fan)

they have an extensive cocktail list with arumfocus but also have wines, beers and ciders available.

loved the ambience, quaint, loungey, chill music.

opted for table service and had the three cheese potato balls and the cuban sandwich. started drinks with the old gramper and classic paris. the food was a lot better than we expected for food ordered at the bar. the drinks were absolutely unreal though, with therumbeing both flavorful and spicy and the overall sweetness perfectly balanced and complimentary to the spirits. the service was also top notch. we will definitely come back for therumflights and i have a feeling this place might be a new hangout for mid week drinks since it's right on the bus line coming home.

an interesting pub set in the basement of a commercial building. it's got an interesting decor.
it's a spot hit up by the locals who work around the area who frequent the place for after work drinks and nibbles. it's also an nice spot for couples although the music gets a bit too loud later on making it difficult for couples to continue their conversation.

named after cuba’s last sugar baron, julio lobo, this bar prides itself on being as extravagant as the pre-revolutionary figure himself.

descend a set of spiral stairs into the depths of clarence street and you’ll find yourself somewhere in the caribbean. there’s plenty of potted plants, oodles of plantation feels, cane light fittings and a shit load of rum, imported from all corners of the globe. lobo plantation has a reputation for serving up some of the best cocktails in the land and if the pyrotechnics behind the bar are anything to go by, this place is on fire.

i will admit, i’m not the biggestrumdrinker. something my pirate of a husband guffawed at when we were here. yet, despite the fact that thisrumbar has few wines to choose from (yes, i appreciate how stupid that sentence sounds), i absolutely love this place. purely for the fact that you can fool yourself into thinking that you’re on holiday.

the lobo plantation is so beautiful. just stunning, it is absolutely worth checking out. they had a separate area with table service and a bowl of banana chips (which was refilled along the way)!

originally i was set on the cocktail with the duck, but with a change in menu i failed to come across it, and went with mr magoo instead. so delicious, highly recommend you try this! contains pineapplerumwhich was probably why it was so up my alley, but i really can’t see this failing anyone. tried some beer they had available also and it was nice (which means something as i usually hate beer). if you are after the duck cocktail, turns out they still have it (clearly i wasn’t looking hard enough), but it contains egg white so i probably wouldn’t have ordered it anyway.

rumbunctious. there is something about spiral staircases. descending into lobo plantation, with the vista of a really quite gorgeous space unfolding before you, is certainly not the worst way to start an evening. and even better when it's followed by a perfectly put together cocktail. while the specialty of the house is rum, i opted for a boxcutter, a mix of two types of gin, vermouth and sour lavendar syrup, which turned out to be a lovely smooth, refreshing drink. my fellow travellers were equally happy with their little bastard and g&t. this carribean influencedrumpalace is an equally good option for an after night work drink or somewhere to take friends from out of town.

i really wish the lighting was better here, photos just don't do it justice. staff are wonderful, friendly and know how to make a damn good cocktail. as soon as you walk down the stairwell and into the latin music, you instantly feel welcomed and ready to take a seat in the super comfy couches. i had therum& rye and ship wreck cocktail, the perfect combination, well balanced and not overpowering, exactly what i want in a cocktail.

the service and ambience truly can't be overlooked at this great little night spot.

another great "themed" city bar. if you likerum( which i do in my cocktails), then this place is an absolute must. working just around the corner, we organise a team drinking session here every few months and the service , ambience and drinks haven't slipped at all. its a very chilled out place, which can be nice on a friday night after a long week ( sometimes going to busy bars on a friday is more stressful then the week itself! )
