the lobo plantation

the entrance had potted plants and the stairway to the underground was laced with vines. the room was very large, ceilings were low and the walls had paint peeling off. i'm not sure now but they had table service during the weekday and the waiters will sit down beside you to take orders. lively, friendly and intimate bar.

the cocktails were great, with a variety of different cocktails that will surely satisfy everyone. it mainly sells cocktails, so the wine and spirits menu weren't as comprehensive. i thoroughly enjoyed thedrinksand service. would recommend to give it a try.

situated in the basement on the clarence street, the lobo plantation is one of the many bars i like to frequent on this strip & for a good reason ! thedrinkshere, although i feel a bit more on the pricier side ~$20-22, are all very delicious! thedrinkscome out well presented and 'instagram worthy' with little decors to match their names. came here with a few pals from the gang and all 6 out of 6drinkswe ordered were delicious and would order again. it's not common that every drink you order at a bar is both unique in taste and presentation, which is why this place deserves a lot of credit. not to forget to mention, the decor of this bar is also very latin american and sets you into good vibes all around. only wished that the music at this bar better suited the surroundings and decor of the place.

super chic place with a cosy and stylish ambience, bar was a bit hard to find as it was underground. friendly service, enjoyed 2drinkson some comfy sofas - place is quite popular as it starts getting packed around 6. great cocktails !

this is a very busy underground bar and restaurant in the city. they have a large range ofdrinksand in terms of food, i really liked their cuban sandwich and cured kingfish ceviche. the dining area is very dim so i don't have any good photos to upload. the place also gets quite noisy but the service was excellent.

opted for table service and had the three cheese potato balls and the cuban sandwich. starteddrinkswith the old gramper and classic paris. the food was a lot better than we expected for food ordered at the bar. thedrinkswere absolutely unreal though, with the rum being both flavorful and spicy and the overall sweetness perfectly balanced and complimentary to the spirits. the service was also top notch. we will definitely come back for the rum flights and i have a feeling this place might be a new hangout for mid weekdrinkssince it's right on the bus line coming home.

an interesting pub set in the basement of a commercial building. it's got an interesting decor.
it's a spot hit up by the locals who work around the area who frequent the place for after workdrinksand nibbles. it's also an nice spot for couples although the music gets a bit too loud later on making it difficult for couples to continue their conversation.

this little bar was such a nice setting as you walked through the doorway and descend down the stairs to a caribbean themed bar.

best part was they had great cocktails and known for the variety of rum, so reading through the menu will keep you busy.

the lobo plantation is so beautiful. just stunning, it is absolutely worth checking out. they had a separate area with table service and a bowl of banana chips (which was refilled along the way)!

originally i was set on the cocktail with the duck, but with a change in menu i failed to come across it, and went with mr magoo instead. so delicious, highly recommend you try this! contains pineapple rum which was probably why it was so up my alley, but i really can’t see this failing anyone. tried some beer they had available also and it was nice (which means something as i usually hate beer). if you are after the duck cocktail, turns out they still have it (clearly i wasn’t looking hard enough), but it contains egg white so i probably wouldn’t have ordered it anyway.

it's sophisticated and cool with an old school charm. the lighting is warm and dim but bright enough so that you can still check out that suit sitting a few tables across. very small food menu, but that's not what you came for. you've come fordrinksserved in proper glassware and that won't be a problem at lobo, however getting a seat might be.

we stumbled in here after the baxter inn. can i just say how lovely it is that we can go bar hopping since they're only a couple minutes walk from one another?

ok now back to the review: we got a hemingway's, old grogram and mr magoo for $55. it was all delicious.

service: our waiter lucas was very helpful with suggestions. we set up a bar tab so we could order thedrinksfrom the table and have them served to us, which was very convenient.

over all a pretty place, prettydrinksand pretty experience.

1950s cuba. you feel like you're in a time warp in this bar. it has that real colonial impression when you first walk in, it is quite dim inside to create this sense of mystique, enhance your curious senses and give of that exclusive vibe. they matched it very well with the grand staircase, flamboyant fixtures and furnitures. it was plasant to have a drink here but it felt outlandishly pretentious, so much so. still... my drinking companion and i both had three cocktails each before dinner but i guess he didn't find thedrinksall that special but i quite enjoyed my three cocktails.
they were alot stronger than one might think, which is good. walked out with a high after the cocktails... it whetted our appetite for something savoury. dinner time was calling or name! had we come here after dinner...? who knows how long we could have been there for!?
nice cocktail bar to stop off and grab a few fancy ones or a glass of vino.

great atmosphere/mood lighting (everyone looks a bit better in the dark). the staff are super nice and thedrinksare so yummy. definitely a favourite.

came here after work on friday night for a couple of cocktails with my girlfriend. did not leave disappointed.

this is a great chilled lounge that does amazing originaldrinks- and don't mind making old classics off the menu upon request. decor is awesome.

served by two different bartenders. tall guy and blonde girl we'll call them.

tall guy didn't talk much but served thedrinksquickly and let me know well before i paid that there was a 1% card surcharge that i had no problem with.

blonde girl was great - asked me how my day was, asked her if it is always this busy to which she started talking about the place on busy night, followed by if i'd been here before and how i heard of them.

she was very friendly and knocked off the 1% card fee for me.

anyway - unfortunately i'd eaten beforehand so didn't have a chance to try their food, but the selection sounded appetising. next time perhaps.

oh this place! in love. the best seat in the house? the bar. had such a good time here. atmosphere is loud, packed to the brim but the food &drinksare amazing. loved the empanadas and pork croquettes. drink wise 8 cocktails were consumed (shuu don't judge it's been a long week). thedrinkswere perfect. fun, funky and with free rubber duckies. the staff are really attentive and you get free plantain chips (surprisingly it's salty)
