poor service is an understatement , ordered food and after an hour some in our group still weren't served. chicken tenders were pasty and dry. ordered fries.. still waiting on them! bought a sprite still waiting on a refil. time was not the issue we arrived at 1:30 well past the lunch rush. thisplacejust doesn't seem to care if you do business with them or not.. will not return or recommend this to anyone else.

stopped in later afternoon on a weekday to grab a pre-dinner beverage or two and also decided to try the wings for a snack.

had a bourbon and then mezcal selection from the cocktail board and enjoyed both but the star i would say were the wings. we ordered buffalo hot and they were nice size, smoky and spicy. better than any i have had in a while.

ambience is dark grunge but in a good way.

likely a four star spot but for this limited visit i will go with a-ok.

note: not a familyplaceor for children.

the jackalope is one of my favorite places to grab food downtown. it does have a dive bar feel, so it is a little rough around the edges. the bacon and brie burger is delicious. i usually get the wings; however, they do vary day to day on the spiciness level. sometimes the really hot wings are not spicy enough and other days they can be too spicy! the sweet potato tater tots with ghost pepper aioli are also a big hit! overall, it is a fun & laid backplacewith some delicious food!

don't fall for the beer crusted dough, it's nothing special. overall good pizza. service not great but okay. our appetizers came out after the pizza. the guy who delivered our pizza had zero people skills, borderline rude. a good dive bar and okay food. like any otherplaceon 6th street.

great bar. primarily this is a bar, and in publius' opinion, it is a great bar. certainly with any bar timing can have a lot to do with the experience; who's the bartender when you go, what day of the week, how drunk you are when you get there along with numerous other factors. but every time publius has gone he has liked it. thisplacehas an authentic feel. it's old, a little beat up (some cracks in the nylon bar stool tops). it has two real, long bars. a diverse group of customers; musicians, students, nerds, hipsters, rednecks. even so, thisplacespeaks to all comers. it's dark and grainy like someone turned up the iso or film speed on your corneas. nice selection of beers. velvet topless art on the walls, a burlesque feel. thisplaceis walking a line that done wrong could be big cheese, but guess what, thisplacegot it right. a good bar for anywhere, a great bar for 6th street where there are a lot of college kid / amateur hour options.

thisplaceis not your usual bar. it has a feel of a past nostalgia that gives thisplacea view of history. its a true experience of sixth street. the food is excellent and the staff is very attentive. they do have happy hour specials, but the true experience is felt during the evening. probably not best to bring kids. they serve up some local brews like fireman's #4. if you have never been here, check it out now!

bestplacein austin. the jackalope definitely one awesome bar, with amazing food. the regular kitchen has great bar food, the best burgers around. the pizzaplacein the front makes a fine thin crust pizza with a fantastic sauce and a some really great and unusual toppings ( pulled pork, blue cheese and bacon, and a chicken caesar salad pie are some i have tried). thisplaceis a far cry from the mostly crappy pizza in austin. the bar scene at the jackalope doesn't neatly fit into a single category as most downtown bars do - all sorts of people rub shoulders here. it can get really busy at times, but there are always places to sit, and the drinks are strong and cheap. the staff and owner are really cool and friendly. me and the girls favorite spot to go out!
