the definiton of dive bar. we were a little apprehensive at first but were pleasantly surprised by the awesome burgers and service. and of course you have to get your picture with thejackalopestatue.

one of the few cool bars left on 6th. burgers are honestly pretty good, enough so that they're worth eating even with casino in such near proximity. i'm thoroughly convincedjackalopehave the best pizza on 6th as well, only condition is you have to order a whole pie. the individual slices aren't as good. staff is great, ta in particular.

tried thejackalopefor lunch. it wasn't busy, which was nice. you do need to be 21+ to enter and they will ask for id. the inside is pretty dim that includes some paintings of topless women on the walls. the burger was on-point and everyone raves over the tots . . . they are good. they have a small outdoor area in the back. pretty solid dive bar.

thejackalopeis one of my favorite places to grab food downtown. it does have a dive bar feel, so it is a little rough around the edges. the bacon and brie burger is delicious. i usually get the wings; however, they do vary day to day on the spiciness level. sometimes the really hot wings are not spicy enough and other days they can be too spicy! the sweet potato tater tots with ghost pepper aioli are also a big hit! overall, it is a fun & laid back place with some delicious food!

best place in austin. thejackalopedefinitely one awesome bar, with amazing food. the regular kitchen has great bar food, the best burgers around. the pizza place in the front makes a fine thin crust pizza with a fantastic sauce and a some really great and unusual toppings ( pulled pork, blue cheese and bacon, and a chicken caesar salad pie are some i have tried). this place is a far cry from the mostly crappy pizza in austin. the bar scene at thejackalopedoesn't neatly fit into a single category as most downtown bars do - all sorts of people rub shoulders here. it can get really busy at times, but there are always places to sit, and the drinks are strong and cheap. the staff and owner are really cool and friendly. me and the girls favorite spot to go out!

truly one of the best!. very few people know that in back ofjackalopeis a box of a kitchen that serves the best burgers ever. and not just the best burgers, but the best onion rings, fried pickles, and, well, just about everything i've ever tasted there is the best. and i know it sounds highly unlikely, but you just have to try it yourself. i highly recommend the chipotle burger. they always have a rotating 'specials' menu as well that is worth trying. and wednesdays are two for one burgers, all day!
