the definiton of dive bar. we were a little apprehensive at first but were pleasantly surprised by the awesome burgers and service. and of course you have to get your picture with the jackalope statue.

poor service is an understatement , ordered food and after an hour some in our group still weren't served. chicken tenders were pasty and dry. ordered fries.. still waiting on them! bought a sprite still waiting on a refil. time was not the issue we arrived at 1:30 well past the lunch rush. this place just doesn't seem to care if you do business with them or not.. will not return or recommend this to anyone else.

one of the few cool bars left on 6th. burgers are honestly pretty good, enough so that they're worth eating even with casino in such near proximity. i'm thoroughly convinced jackalope have the best pizza on 6th as well, only condition is you have to order a whole pie. the individual slices aren't as good. staff is great, ta in particular.

the burgers here are absolutely delicious. i like the atmosphere. it is a great place to hangout with friends and grab some drinks. you'll have fun taking pictures with the giant statue.

stopped in later afternoon on a weekday to grab a pre-dinner beverage or two and also decided to try the wings for a snack.

had a bourbon and then mezcal selection from the cocktail board and enjoyed both but the star i would say were the wings. we ordered buffalo hot and they were nice size, smoky and spicy. better than any i have had in a while.

ambience is dark grunge but in a good way.

likely a four star spot but for this limited visit i will go with a-ok.

note: not a family place or for children.

tried the jackalope for lunch. it wasn't busy, which was nice. you do need to be 21+ to enter and they will ask for id. the inside is pretty dim that includes some paintings of topless women on the walls. the burger was on-point and everyone raves over the tots . . . they are good. they have a small outdoor area in the back. pretty solid dive bar.

i went here specifically for the sweet potato tater tots with the aioli and they were amazing. i ate them one after the other so fast until i felt sick and couldn't wait to eat more next time i get them. the interior of the bar is pretty dim but it wasn't crowded at all at lunch time and both people i interacted with were nice.

the jackalope is one of my favorite places to grab food downtown. it does have a dive bar feel, so it is a little rough around the edges. the bacon and brie burger is delicious. i usually get the wings; however, they do vary day to day on the spiciness level. sometimes the really hot wings are not spicy enough and other days they can be too spicy! the sweet potato tater tots with ghost pepper aioli are also a big hit! overall, it is a fun & laid back place with some delicious food!

stumbled across this gem looking for a sandwich and get out of the heat! food is great and the service is awesome. real. unpretentious! loved the veggie burger - in house prepared. #keepaustinweird

i was walking downtown in the blaring heat, i stumbled across a bar. i noticed a sign that said "damn good food", i thought it would be a good choice to stop for lunch. i decided to get the honey-mustard bacon cheeseburger, which was highly recommended. oh boy, i was super impressed on how big the patty was and the waffle fries were the bomb! i for sure have to come back sometime.

don't fall for the beer crusted dough, it's nothing special. overall good pizza. service not great but okay. our appetizers came out after the pizza. the guy who delivered our pizza had zero people skills, borderline rude. a good dive bar and okay food. like any other place on 6th street.

really good! had the portobello fajitas, and they were remarkable. waitress was very attentive in getting us refills, but forgot the plate of cheese, guac, pico, etc until we were nearly finished eating - that's how good they were! we couldn't even wait. and they come with pineapple pico, which sounds weird, but was very good.
