the garage

good price, decent food, terrible service.. i've been to the garage multiple times now. they have a pretty good selection of beer and their drink prices are good. their food is okay, but by no means outstanding. theirserviceis absolutely horrible, both in the dinning area and the bar. which is why i will not be returning to the garage anytime soon.

if you enjoy a grease burger this is your place. there is so much grease the bun falls apart in your hands. tasty sweet potato fries. nice atmosphere. customerserviceis lacking and idiots pretending to work bar area. mcdonalds doesn’t have to be concerned.

i went to the one on may and brittion rd at noon , overlooked the mayo on the menu , got my burger took 3 bites to hit the mayo and put it down, the bartender said he would make it right , never did and stayed on the other side of the bar the whole time , finally come over to throw my burger away while saying " you really hate mayo don't you " and walked away , needless to say i was charged for the burger and left the place hungry, costumerserviceis a big fail at this business.

would love to give this place a 10 but darn theservicewas so bad i can't. food was ok, place was really cool but then it goes down hill. their method of seating sucks!!!!!!!!!! you can't sit in any way until you order. then they may have a table for you. i should have know that this wasn't going to work. when we got our table we couldn't even finish our meal without the staff asking if we were finished and pushing us out the door. i guess this is the trade off for having a seating philosophy like this. i had 1/2 of a beer and we were not even finished with dinner and they took our food and stood around our table like a bunch of vultures waiting for us to leave. i never complain and this is the first review i've ever written. i'm sorry if i sound like a big complainer. just would like to finnish my beer and dinner. don't come here on game day. just sayin.

usually like this place a lot, but not last night. ordered a burger and fries and got a whole bunch of grease!! sent fries back twice and got the same grease back twice! horrible heartburn afterwards!servicewas really good though! will be quite a while before i return!

update 9/17/2014:
i returned to this restaurant a few days ago and the food is so much better now than when they first opened! i really liked the fried onion burger and the fries ordered well done (recommended by the cashier). the well done fries are the best!! the atmosphere is still the same, meaning it is still very, very loud in there. hard to carry on much of a conversation. i wish they would do something about that, but the food is really good now. i will return soon! this won't be a place i go often, because of the noise, but it has really good food!

it was just ok. the hamburger was dry, but had a good flavor. the fries, both sweet potato and french fries, were ok. not crispy and not greasy. catsup actually helped both the fries and the burgers. very, very loud. not a place to carry on a conversation. i will try this again in a few months.

k. w. pogue. we eat at the garage usually several times per month but after our experience today we may not go back. after waiting in line for 15-20 minutes, we stepped up to place our order and were informed that we couldn't order until there was seating available.
when you walk in the door you have to walk around a sign that says "order before being seated". this is obviously just a suggestion because we witnessed several people sending their family ahead to get a table.
we have enjoyed the food butservicehas always been lacking and their control over seating doesn't exist.

hectic, chaotic, just a hot sick mess. attention: this is a far cry from it's predecessor in norman.

the burger was extremely messy and was just okay. my son's children's burger was charred. the fries were alright. how they managed to turn a former put-put golf building into a restaurant is beyond me, but they didn't do a good job. the layout is terrible. everyone is crammed into the area where you order, then you hunt down a table. it is very narrow, loud, and it's really just not all comfortable. maybe this is a case of the environment having a bad impression on how the food tastes because by the time the food was delivered we were really just sort of ready to go.

i can't say that theservicewas lousy, because we really didn't have any server interaction. we were extremely hurried when ordering, and the person just dumped our food on the table when it was ready and took our number -- didn't even ask if it looked right or anything. it was just not a pleasant visit, enough of a turn-off to not return.

food - goodservice- awful!. food was good, not great, but much better than most restaurants in edmond. normally i will put up with badservicefor good food, as normally the situation is there are too few people working, and generally this is where there is a problem. however there were plenty of workers here, they just didn't seem to be trained or know what they should be doing. it was almost like this was their first week of business.

layout is also confusing, as if they don't know if they want to be a bar or a burger joint. too many big screens, all on the same channel and noise level was way too high for lunchtime, even for a bar. it's almost as if they are owned by two people, one wants to have it be a bar, and the other wants it to be a family restaurant and the result is it is neither.

the day i was there the coke dispenser didn't do the proper mix and was spitting out mostly carbonated water with just a slight bit of mix. i should have known something was wrong with the mountain of ice in the dispenser when people dumped their drinks to try another flavor. also they had a tea dispenser labeled "unsweetened". it was the only one, so not sure if there should have also been a sweet tea dispenser also.

plastic cups were wet as they handed them out at the register, and with all the other problems it made me wonder if they were actually clean. also what is with the plastic knife? if you have reusable plastic cups,why disposable knives?

i want to like this place as it has potential, but it just appears to be managed so poorly and the staff although friendly just appear to be clueless as to what they should be doing, again pointing back to poor or inexperienced management. fortunately the kitchen staff seems to know what they are doing, and that can make up for a lot of issues with the people up front.

probably will be back as other than the layout of the place, i'm hoping they were just having an off day, as the place really does have potential with it's simple yet expansive menu.

average. the garage is bittersweet for me. as an ex-service industry worker, i'm always dismayed at the extremely unfriendly floor staff and as a vegetarian, the veggie burger is just okay, although i enjoy their garlic-parmesan fries. the bingo night on thursday is usually pretty fun, though, and if you're with a bigger group of people - i can tune theserviceout.

great place!. we met our daughter and son in law here for a fun dinner and really enjoyed it. everyone was friendly, theservicewas very efficient and the food was great! i had read some of the reviews but we decided to try it anyway and we were all glad we did. we all tried the bacon jalapeño and cheese burgers - delicious, especially the bison burgers! the noise level was as expected for a sports bar atmosphere but wasn't a problem for us. we will be back!

this place has great burgers but a seriously flawed ordering process. on a busy friday or saturday night, it takes way too long to wait just to place an order and then wait again for a spot to sit. plus, there is no oversight or control and huge groups come in and cut the lines to join "friends" already in line. one cashier only to take orders makes this place too tedius. then if you want a drink from the bar, that's a seperate order process and second payment process. get it together, guys.

great burgers. been passing this place since it opened and it is always packed. we went here last sunday afternoon around 4 and there was no crowd or wait to get in. the atmosphere is great. i agree that the ordering concept is very disjointed and it would be better if you could be seated, look at a menu and then order. but - the buffalo slaw burger was out of this world and the sweet potato fries were amazing. the food we tried outweighed the effort of the awkward ordering. the bar looked cool but didn't try any beer or drinks. will definitely go back and will root for them to improve theserviceaspect to equal the food quality. edmond needs more "non-chain" casual dining like this.

great staff. very friendly. theservicefrom everyone was exceptional... the food was equally outstanding! don't wait to try the garage, it's more than worth it.

great burgers, nasty fries. i've been to the garage twice now with friends. we all had a different entree & were in agreement that the garage is a hit. second visit today, and i tried the beef cheeseburger & asked for a few jalapeños on the side. this seemingly simple request threw a wrench in their day. when said burger was brought to the table it was covered in grilled jalapeños. i scaped 3/4 of them off & it was pure deliciousness. my lunch mate had fish & chips. this consisted of three smallish fried fish pieces on top of some undercooked fries. nothing special there.
my fries must have been sitting on the bottom of the basket for a while. they were cold, over seasoned and extremely soggy. blah. i sent them back & asked for my $$ back. no problems.
no drinks at lunch today, but they have a good fullservicebar that we enjoyed on our first visit. i like the garage and support local always! please continue to work on consistency & those fries.
