the fountain on locust

this place was a welcome highlight of my week! with a wonderful atmosphere of vintage theater meets soda shoppe this place has great energy. solidserviceand short wait times for some truly high quality eats means return visits in my future. i also feel that this menu was designed for me. i'm generally not a sweets person but good grief. this place knows how to put together some awesome signature desserts. the cocktail, dessert cocktail and dessert sections of the menu are larger than the actual main meal section. i'm ok with that. start with dessert. get things to share. there are too many amazing ice creams and extras to try by yourself. i hate sharing my food, but in this case sharing is caring, and i care a lot about chocolate ice cream. this place isn't quiet, isn't private and has constant traffic. that energy just adds to the great vibe in the fountain. get here.

fabulous.. stutz salad and grilled cheese, so yummy. really great selection of fresh, good foods. also love that they walked out my to go order since i was in my pjs, so excellentservicetoo!!

as always, the seasonal ice cream (snowflake) is to die for. excellentserviceas well.

afternoon delight. after a long, hot day, saint louis locals should try out this cool spot. arrive in the middle of the blistering heat, and cool off with wonderful beverages and tasty treats. we were delighted byserviceand treated to testers of the peanut soup! i ordered for my drink the le fleur- champagne with elderberry liquor and a flower. my friend ordered the and lemon champange fizzy and the thin man special (on wednesdays) and she was overly impressed. i had the signature salad sandwich with the artichokes and the orange and red onion salad. it was a perfect place for chatting. the decor and ambience was top-notch+ a retro ice cream parlor to boot. our server was very kind! i will be visiting again.

food good,servicepoor. we ordered drinks and the humus. we asked the rest of our food come later. we had only had our appetizer and drinks for a few minutes when our soup and salads came. timing is important when serving food. the ice cream was delish.

love it, love it, love it. i went to the fountain with friends over the weekend and had a great time. the atmosphere is amazing!!! theservicewas very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, offering great dinner suggestion. the food was delicious. the best part of the evening was the ice cream martinis. i think i will make it my mission this year to try every martini on the menu. i didn't have the ice cream but plan on going back very soon to have a sundae.

love the soup. what a great restaurant! we went to the fountain on locust before the fox and i had the soup trio. all three soups were exceptional. my husband had the roast beef melt and the dill pickle soup, a very unique soup. after the fox we decided to go back for dessert and had the best ice cream sundae in st. louis!! theservicewas friendly and the atmosphere was so unique. i highly recommend it!

lousyservicecancels out good food. i have been to the fountain twice. the first time, in may, i took a friend there for lunch. the grownup grilled cheese sandwich and city salad that she ordered were divine. my egg salad sandwich was very good (but didn't taste the capers).servicewas spotty to slow, but i overlooked it because the place is so charming and the menu so fabulous; i couldn't wait to return. i guess i should have. i took my husband there for an early bite to eat saturday night before circus flora. it was not terribly busy, but just try to find someone to take a drink order! once we finally did, we had to follow up with her to find out why it was taking so very long for our drinks to arrive; she said the bartender was all backed up (there were maybe 10 people in the place). ok, whatever, the cocktails were yummy. the food just ok. and in the end, theservicewas just so frustratingly unprofessional (we were seated by the hostess station and endured her repeatedly thumping her knuckles rhythmically on the wooden station - she said she did that when she was bored) that it just killed the whole experience. st. louis is full of dining options - i'll go see what else is out there.

the fountain is not for me and my family. not only is theservicelittle to be desired, the food took forever. while i we were waiting, my car window was smashed and 2 dsi's were stolen along with my gym bag. i will never go back again.

good food, but theserviceis lacking. the first time i went for lunch, it was ok to somewhat slow, but we weren't in a hurry and didn't mind all that much. the second time i went out with six friends for a birthday. no one got to eat at the same time. they proceded to bring out our ice creams one by one over the course of two hours, saying they were "slammed" when in reality they were understaffed and only at 50% capacity on a saturday night. there's something wrong when you have to wait around and beg for a check so you can go. it was way too loud to boot.

good food and friendly service!. reasonably priced, greatserviceand good food - will make many returns!
