the fountain on locust

came here for the first time a week ago for lunch and loved the atmosphere. the food wasgreatand reasonably priced. i need to come back and enjoy their famous ice cream!

the decor alone is worth the trip. the exuberant art deco decor is carried out withgreataplomb and meticulous detail. it is a joy to be within the premises (even the restrooms!). our lunch was good. the house special soup (with dill pickle) was worth trying. my roast beef sandwich was good but perhaps could have used a little zip--maybe a horseradish spread on the side.
great value. the small hot fudge sundae with whole pecans was just perfect in size and flavor. i enjoyed my visit here.

that soup tho. grandma suggested i go there so we went together. delicious meatball sammich. she got a vegan soup, i got the mexican tortilla soup. her, being allergic to beans couldn't eat the vegan soup so we traded, both were very very good, props to this place. cute inside, not expensive, had agreatwaiter.

this place was a welcome highlight of my week! with a wonderful atmosphere of vintage theater meets soda shoppe this place hasgreatenergy. solid service and short wait times for some truly high quality eats means return visits in my future. i also feel that this menu was designed for me. i'm generally not a sweets person but good grief. this place knows how to put together some awesome signature desserts. the cocktail, dessert cocktail and dessert sections of the menu are larger than the actual main meal section. i'm ok with that. start with dessert. get things to share. there are too many amazing ice creams and extras to try by yourself. i hate sharing my food, but in this case sharing is caring, and i care a lot about chocolate ice cream. this place isn't quiet, isn't private and has constant traffic. that energy just adds to thegreatvibe in the fountain. get here.

fabulous.. stutz salad and grilled cheese, so yummy. reallygreatselection of fresh, good foods. also love that they walked out my to go order since i was in my pjs, so excellent service too!!

we came in for lunch on a saturday. i wasn't impressed with the menu, i am a variety girl. i was impressed with how delicious and zesty every single item we ordered was though. la picada as a starter, hot cuban sandwich with st louis city salad, hot roast beef melt with hand cut fries, pesto chicken sandwich with fruit cup(upon request) all yummers! they have gluten-free option for bread too!
also, it's agreatplace to meet up with friends for a drink, you may need to make reservations, i see that it's always packed.

i really love this place! i have eaten there several times while in the area visiting friends and family. they have interesting and tasty drinks, both with and without alcohol. i watched them make a couple of martinis and drinks that looked really unique and appealing. it is agreatplace for food, dessert, or just cocktails. they even have unique beers for the beer lovers! they havegreatappetizers. my favorite is la picada. their salads are very good. i enjoyed the stutz salad. i love their signature mixed salad sandwich. i had it both with and without chicken, and i actually prefer it without the chicken. it is really full of flavor! they have yummy ice cream, including some adult selections. i have tried a couple and they are pretty good. you really can't go wrong here. the atmosphere feels fun and full of history. the restaurant was actually a car showroom many years ago! it has a modern retro diner feel to it. i miss having lunch there and cannot wait to go back!

fountain on locust is agreatand unique spot. the dill pickle soup is excellent and you must have a martini ice cream drink.

excellent soup and the fig and bacon pie was amazing. our waiter was really helpful. the atmosphere was reminiscent of the roaring twenties and made for agreatdate night. i highly recommend this place for a quick bite or a date night. also, their ice cream is amazing.

excellent!. fantastic mixed drinks and homemade sodas. the fountain is agreatplace for to start a night out. the menu thought limiting, was also appealing. their pesto sauce in particular was delicious. i plan to return for more in the near future.

fun retro eatery. 4 of us stopped at the fountain after a movie recently. the place has agreatretro atmosphere, full menu of classic cocktails and ice cream concoctions. i had the beef stroganoff soup which was quite good. the salads were also very abundant and very good. the drinks were good and the desserts were terrific.

what a beautiful space. it is a lovingly restored art deco themed space with highly-touted ice cream and toppings. my husband and i sat at the bar while we waited for our dinner companions and thoroughly enjoyed watching the staff prepare drinks and ice cream creations. i had never seen a banana flambeed for use in a banana split. while sipping a hemingway, a cocktail of absinthe and bubbly, i chatted with one bartender about burning man, another about who the "other" member of wham was. not only was i discoveringgreatfood in st. louis, every restaurant employee we encountered was friendly, helpful and fun to be around. i wish for more cities like this!

loved it. the food isgreatand we loved the ice cream. we tried the almond joy ice cream first.. it was so good we ordered a few more. this place occasionally comes up on groupon with agreatdeal.

love it, love it, love it. i went to the fountain with friends over the weekend and had agreattime. the atmosphere is amazing!!! the service was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, offeringgreatdinner suggestion. the food was delicious. the best part of the evening was the ice cream martinis. i think i will make it my mission this year to try every martini on the menu. i didn't have the ice cream but plan on going back very soon to have a sundae.

love the soup. what agreatrestaurant! we went to the fountain on locust before the fox and i had the soup trio. all three soups were exceptional. my husband had the roast beef melt and the dill pickle soup, a very unique soup. after the fox we decided to go back for dessert and had the best ice cream sundae in st. louis!! the service was friendly and the atmosphere was so unique. i highly recommend it!

great addition to the neighborhood!. it is one of my favorite lunch spots in the area! the menu is unique and refreshing. i would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try something new and would suggest the adult grill cheese. they have agreatatmosphere- the only downside is they are closed on monday.
