this place was a welcome highlight of my week! with a wonderful atmosphere of vintage theater meets soda shoppe this place has great energy. solid service and short wait times for some truly high quality eats means return visits in my future. i also feel that this menu was designed for me. i'm generally not a sweets person but good grief. this place knows how to put together some awesome signature desserts. the cocktail, dessert cocktail and dessert sections of the menu are larger than the actual main meal section. i'm ok with that. start with dessert. get things to share. there are too many amazingicecreams and extras to try by yourself. i hate sharing my food, but in this case sharing is caring, and i care a lot about chocolateicecream. this place isn't quiet, isn't private and has constant traffic. that energy just adds to the great vibe in the fountain. get here.

epic sundaes!. what a really fun and unique place! dark, romantic decor and the booth seats come equipped with a radio play! a dramatic soap opera involving an affair between a nurse and s doctor.

my husband and i made a trip here last week for our first visit after one of his coworkers told him that we just needed to get ourselves one of their epic sundaes!

our waiter was crazy awesome! very chill and very friendly and ready to blow us away with fountain magic.

my husband started with the dark and sinister, but chocolate by itself isn't really his thing. so he ordered a second sundae - three coins in the fountain - and he fell in love! if you want minticecream, this is definitely the way to go!

i got chocolate brownie cake in a cup with black cherryicecream instead of plain old vanilla. it was pretty big and pretty yummy. i can't say the brownie was anything special, but the black cherryicecream and hot fudge made it all come together. especially considering the huge chunks of actual cherries that i found bite after bite.

i would say that this place has very similar sundaes to crown candy as far as serving size and quality are concerned. so if you want that kind of food, but want more of a dark romantic spot, this is the place for you!

i really love this place! i have eaten there several times while in the area visiting friends and family. they have interesting and tasty drinks, both with and without alcohol. i watched them make a couple of martinis and drinks that looked really unique and appealing. it is a great place for food, dessert, or just cocktails. they even have unique beers for the beer lovers! they have great appetizers. my favorite is la picada. their salads are very good. i enjoyed the stutz salad. i love their signature mixed salad sandwich. i had it both with and without chicken, and i actually prefer it without the chicken. it is really full of flavor! they have yummyicecream, including some adult selections. i have tried a couple and they are pretty good. you really can't go wrong here. the atmosphere feels fun and full of history. the restaurant was actually a car showroom many years ago! it has a modern retro diner feel to it. i miss having lunch there and cannot wait to go back!

went it foricecream - got an almond joy sunday, which was fantastic. thought the atmosphere was a bit wierd - maybe you need to be more of a hipster than i am to really appreciate it. theicecream however was some of the best i've had anywhere.

we went by for desert after dinner at different place. looking around that might have been a mistake. the food on the tables looked good. we hadicecream (upright banana split) and cocktails (thin mint martini). the kids had scoops which i thought we're overpriced till i saw how much they got (too much for them, but could have shared). next time we'll do dinner.

the thought of aicecream martini was the craziest thing i’d ever heard. the reality was so much better than i’d ever imagined. i felt like i shouldn’t ordericecream & alcohol, so i went with orange sherbet and oh was it delicious! one martini was enough to have all of us girls feeling a bit woozy. i can’t wait to head back!

best date place. the character in this place alone makes it worth the drive from any st. louis county to downtown. soups and salads are always fresh and delicious.

my favorite is the pretzel cone with butter pecanicecream!! yum!

the absolute best hot fudge. recently stopped in the fountain with some friends for a late night dessert. i was very impressed with their fresh-made daily cool whip. theicecream is of a really good quality, too. the hot fudge was to die for though! the dark and sinister is every chocolate lover's dream come true in a tidyicecream dessert. if you love chocolate, this will blow you away!

there was one distinct downside to the place. while the subtle lighting was a nice effect and the retro decorations added a unique atmosphere, the sound level was horrendous. when the front door is opened, the sound hit us in the face. the place was far from full and no one was seemed to be overly loud. apparently the acoustics are lend themselves more to bouncing the sound around rather than absorbing any of it.

fun retro eatery. 4 of us stopped at the fountain after a movie recently. the place has a great retro atmosphere, full menu of classic cocktails andicecream concoctions. i had the beef stroganoff soup which was quite good. the salads were also very abundant and very good. the drinks were good and the desserts were terrific.

what a beautiful space. it is a lovingly restored art deco themed space with highly-toutedicecream and toppings. my husband and i sat at the bar while we waited for our dinner companions and thoroughly enjoyed watching the staff prepare drinks andicecream creations. i had never seen a banana flambeed for use in a banana split. while sipping a hemingway, a cocktail of absinthe and bubbly, i chatted with one bartender about burning man, another about who the "other" member of wham was. not only was i discovering great food in st. louis, every restaurant employee we encountered was friendly, helpful and fun to be around. i wish for more cities like this!
