wonderful food & service!. went here for a friend's birthday party on friday night, and it was so good! enjoyed the food immensely, and we had (fast) excellent service. i brought a birthday cake, and they offered us plates & forks before we even asked... i've never had that happen, and i've done this for a number of birthdays! also, it's very inexpensive, considering what you get. i had the stutz salad as a side with my royale grille, and was loved it--spinach, walnuts, goat cheese, mandarin oranges and homemade dressing? so good!

what a beautiful space. it is a lovingly restored art deco themed space with highly-touted ice cream and toppings. my husband and i sat at the bar while we waited for our dinner companions and thoroughly enjoyed watching the staff prepare drinks and ice cream creations. i had never seen a banana flambeed for use in a banana split. while sipping a hemingway, a cocktail of absinthe and bubbly, i chatted with one bartender about burning man, another about who the "other" member of wham was. not only was i discovering great food in st. louis, every restaurant employee we encountered was friendly, helpful and fun to be around. i wish for more cities like this!

afternoon delight. after a long, hot day, saint louis locals should try out this cool spot. arrive in the middle of the blistering heat, and cool off with wonderful beverages and tasty treats. we were delighted by service and treated to testers of the peanut soup! i ordered for my drink the le fleur- champagne with elderberry liquor and a flower. my friend ordered the and lemon champange fizzy and the thin man special (on wednesdays) and she was overly impressed. i had the signature salad sandwich with the artichokes and the orange and red onion salad. it was a perfect place for chatting. the decor and ambience was top-notch+ a retro ice cream parlor to boot. our server was very kind! i will be visiting again.

this was the first place we stopped upon driving into st louis (from texas) and it was the perfect way to kick off our afternoon! food was phenomenal, pimms & lemonade almost ad authentic as found in the uk, fresh, homemade ice cream, and wait staff with true southern hospitality! a must eat place!

food good, service poor. we ordered drinks and the humus. we asked the rest of our food come later. we had only had our appetizer and drinks for a few minutes when our soup and salads came. timing is important when serving food. the ice cream was delish.

bypass the wait... sit at the bar. amazing ice cream! the cocount almond ice cream sundae was sooo delicious! my mom makes coconut ice cream w/jack fruit and this even beat hers.

if we sat and ate, the wait would've been 40 minutes, but since we were just getting ice cream and there were two perfect seats at the bar, we ended our night with a delicious dessert. yum!

love it, love it, love it. i went to the fountain with friends over the weekend and had a great time. the atmosphere is amazing!!! the service was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, offering great dinner suggestion. the food was delicious. the best part of the evening was the ice cream martinis. i think i will make it my mission this year to try every martini on the menu. i didn't have the ice cream but plan on going back very soon to have a sundae.

love the soup. what a great restaurant! we went to the fountain on locust before the fox and i had the soup trio. all three soups were exceptional. my husband had the roast beef melt and the dill pickle soup, a very unique soup. after the fox we decided to go back for dessert and had the best ice cream sundae in st. louis!! the service was friendly and the atmosphere was so unique. i highly recommend it!

belittled on my birthday. happy birthday to me not
my friends planned a surprise dinner party for me here. i had never been but had heard about the infamous ice cream martinis.

after i arrived i watched the waitress help other tables and pass our a few times. i even watched her as she stood and talked to her friends as we waited to be helped. the waitress' attitude was not pleasant and stayed as such the whole evening.

it was a birthday celebration so needless to say the spending was endless. things were fine until my friend ordered a banana split. she literally took two tastes and said something tasted funny. she asked the waitress if she could order something else and the waitress immediately got the manager.

the manager argued with my friend & told her if she came back they wouldn't do it again, saying, "its not a t-shirt!" she then took the ice cream from my friend.

then the owner came over and told my friend she would have to pay for the item and proceeded to say "let me educate you, food cost money..."

i left the table twice because i was so upset with how we were being treated! and yes the manager argued with my table long enough for me to leave twice!

we were belittled and disrespected in a restaurant full of people . . .on my birthday. . .over an ice cream. i will not go back and i hope you all follow suit because that was the most ridiculous display of management and ownership i have ever seen.

bottom line: nice place, more for the atmosphere than the food, but the desire to try a "champagne float" will most certainly draw me back.

used to like this place. not anymore. i guess this place became the spot for the local cardinals hoosers. we were told a 20 minute wait. we waited 40 minutes. and we were never seated! after the family of 8 children were seated before us at 9:40pm, we had to come up with a new plan for our anniversary dinner.

i went here a couple times before and had good food and amazing dessert. the menu has changed a lot since the last time i went. so i will never know if it's any good anymore. i guess our dollar was not worth seating us, a couple, who would have bought drinks as well as main fare, over some snot noised brats.
my dollar was spent somewhere else and our night was narrowly ruined because of this place. my advice, don't bother to wait.... support a restaurant with friendly staff and have an organized wait list (or at least know what their doing).

deadly dessert. that's right it'll kill ya! i had the dark and sinister, and my belly could have popped! i also had the fugazzetta, which is an onion lovers delight.

the place is beautiful down to the restrooms! staff was pleasant and it was moderately priced. at least go there after the fox to have a wonderful dessert!!!!

quaint. our daughter found this place and we enjoyed the cozy booth as we visited and tasted the different cocktails and ice cream desserts that the fountain is noted for. our waiter, erich, was a hoot.

they were right about their sundae toppings! i had to try the raspberry, hot fudge and hot caramel and they were all deee-lish!!!
