foodbarn has been our lets have a treat dinner for many years, with best friends, family and alone. the food always adds to the conversation as it is tasted shared and fought over.

theserviceis unobtrusive yet omnipresent. we will have to make another foray for the winter menu and soon

always love the area, very relaxed and quiet, there is a fresh juice place outside the restaurant definitely my favorite, so heathy and fresh. foodbarn' food is a "safe" type, everything is very classic and yet not surprised. taste was good, servicewas good. and a nice place to visit again

so glad i stopped here for lunch.... what a treat!
the menu is in two sections - wine pairing and a la carte and for lunch during the week the a la carte menu is half price, making it a rather pleasant surprise. limited in choice though but i do compliment the chef, the food is divine.serviceis very attentive and the ambiance is lovely.
i'll be back😂

how fantastic! meeting with long time friends who are locals but for us a bit if a drive was made worth it by the exceptionalservice& tasty food. deciding on the 3 course pairing menu, we enjoyed the cannelloni starter, beef fillet & pannecota dessert. wine pairing was perfect. thank you for a great evening

i had such an incredible lunch here for my mum's birthday. my favourite thing about this restaurant is that it is truly 5-star, but doesn't have the same air of pretentiousness that many other cape town fine dining places have. the atmosphere is warm and bustling, and theservicewas top notch.

we had the a la carte menu as it was on the half-price weekday special. for starters we had the tempura prawn stack and mushroom ravioli, and the beef for main. the beef totally stole the show, with a delicious smokey flavour and sweet potato mash! licked the plate clean.

highly recommended! can't wait to go back!

where to start? the food was amazing, we had the sirloin which was utterly delicious. for dessert, i had the granadilla bruleé which felt like a tropical party in my mouth! theservicewas impeccable and it was a lovely cosy setting for a blustery cape winter afternoon.

hearty, unpretentious and utterly delicious - our lunch at the foodbarn was the best we've had in cape town. the seafood soup was simply out of this world - fresh fresh fresh clams and mussels and prawns and a creamy decadent broth. the mushroom ravioli, risotto with prawns and fish with porcini cream, wilted kale and onion rings were faultless as well. prices are incredibly good value-for-money (even without the 50% off on ala carte dishes on weekdays).servicewas warm and friendly.

from the moment we walked in theservicewas outstanding. the atmosphere is relaxed yet still has an air of sophistication. the menu is easy to read and you are not bombarded with too many choices, there is the option of a tasting menu or a la carte. we went for a la carte menu and were not disappointed. 3 courses later and we could not fault a thing, i would highly recommend the lamb. a special mention to the staff, attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable. compliments to the foodbarn on a well delivered experience.

superb food and a well thought out menu, the foodbarn is truly noordhoek's hidden jem!

you have the option of ordering from the a la carte menu or opting to do the tasting menu. we wanted to try dishes that weren't on the tasting menu, so we went a la carte with wine pairings.

for starters, we had the ravioli, the goats cheese beignets and the tartare. all three dishes were amazingly presented and tasted devine, each with their own unique taste. the wines matched perfectly with the dishes - my personal favorite was the newton johnson chardonnay that was paired with the ravioli - not your typical chardonnay, but worked so well with the food! my favorite starter was the goats cheese beignets - crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside... delicious!

mains included the linefish (sea bass), beef fillet and prawn risotto. once again, all three were superb taste sensations! the sea bass was soft and juicy with a crispy skin and a mouth watering sauce. i loved the sauce that came with the fillet - sort of a cinnamon taste to it. but the standout dish was definitely the risotto - absolutely delicious! i could not fault it!

for dessert, we had the belgian chocolate, which was just as delicious as the other two courses and not as sweet as chocolate desserts usually are. it was also quite light, despite looking like quite a generous helping of dessert.

the food was perfect, but unfortunately theservicewas very poor. out waitress seemed to completely forget about us after the first course. i felt like the foreign guests around us were being given priority over us. in fact, i bet we could've walked out of there without paying an no one would've noticed. when we complained, the manager was very apologetic, which was nice, but our waitress seemed to develop quite an attitude. it's a pity that this spoiled what would otherwise have been a top class meal!

wow, wow, wow! this place is an absolute gem! it is set in the gorgeous region of noordhoek, about 1 hours drive from ct's city centre. the food is out of this world and theserviceis first class. the decor and setting are unassuming but don't let that fool you, they are churning out some very tasty and glamourous cuisine that would suit a fine dining establishment. i cannot say enough good things about this place, if you have the time, you have to take a trip down to noordhoek, and spend some time in the are if you can, it is absolutely gorgeous and you can drive back to the city centre along the scenic chapmans peak. the restaurant is a little pricey but totally worth every cent!

i fell in love with the foodbarn many years ago when my then boyfriend took me there to celebrate my birthday. i had their lamb cutlets and parmesan mashed potatoes for mains and was hooked. lol - i just say chops and mash and my now hubby just shakes his head. after all it is a fine dining experience 😉 theserviceis impeccable, the food is amazing and the winelist boasts a couple of really good local wines. they also have great winter specials which is fantastic and they have a wonderful deli too! this place is always worth the drive time and time again.

myself and my boyfriend went to the foodbarn for lunch the other day, and had a fantastic lunch. theservicecould have been slightly better, but the food made up for it.

starters: i had the ostrich tartare starter, which was absolutely flawless, and the presentation was magnificent, as always. my boyfriend had the goats cheese fritter, which was as delicious as it was beautiful!

mains: this was the only disappointing part of the meal. both myself and my boyfriend had the karoo roasted lamb rack, and we were both rather disappointed. the lamb itself was cooked well, but had none of its own flavor, and the garlic jus had barely a hint of garlic. the citrus crumbs were also unnoticeable, if at all present. not the highlight we were hoping for.

desserts: i ordered the strawberry and rhubarb dessert, and was exceptionally happy with it, that is, until i tasted my boyfriend's dessert. he had the pumpkin pie with granola, and it tasted even better than it looked! we landed up swapping puddings halfway through, so that i would stop staring at my boyfriend's bowl so longingly. absolutely divine!

all in all, an amazing lunch, but i definitely won't be ordering the lamb rack main again! here's to ostrich tartare and pumpkin pie!
