you only get one chance to make agoodfirst impression and they failed.  our experience was a long wait time on what appeared to be a slow thursday night, 20 minutes for simple items.  our wait time gave us the opportunity to look around at the torn vinyl benches, dirty and sticky floors, a food server constantly playing with her hair, dirty tables, all in a very drab atmosphere.  with all of the negative it was hard to focus on the food, which was marginal at best.  do yourself a favor for future customers and use something to absorb the grease out of the pita chips that come with the cheese dip.  and pretend that you are a real restaurant and fix or replace all of the torn vinyl seats.

i ate a small combo with shrimp, oysters and white fish.  i was very impressed by the size of shrimp and a large piece of fish in the basket.  shrimp were plenty and very tasty, and oysters were good, too.  a verygoodvalue for $10.00 with 2 generous size of side dishes.  i liked the shrimp etoffe that they call it "shrimp jambalaya", i didn't like cole slaw so much, it was too sweet for me, though my girlfriend love the cole slaw.  the place was very clean and employees were very nice and friendly.  i will go back again when i go to mobile next time.  it's rare to find a seafood restaurant to eat for less than $35.00 for 2 now.

don't eat here. our horrible experience started from the cashier who refused to speak correctly because she didn't want to show her teeth when she talked.... she would get frustrated when you were unable able to understand what she was saying. thegoodtime does not stop there! when we placed our order, we were told that the items we wanted were no longer available...and that was half the menu. the items that were available and we did ordered ....is not what we received? ??? the food quality was poor !!!! and the service was horrible!

prizes have gotten ridiculous!!!!. me and my family loved the boiling pot, the place was packed every time we went and we "used to go often" because of the reasonable prices and big potions....but the last time we had been the prices had gone up to just a little and we had stopped going...recently me and my mom wanted to take my dad for his birthday about 2 days ago...we got to the restaurant....the shrimp plate is $25.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....and the portion was not worth it....the menu that comes up on google is bogus!!!!!!!.....our total was $108.58 for fast food wtw......my dad (mind you this is his birthday) told us to get agoodlook around because we will not be back!!!!!!....don't get me wrong if you have that kind of money to blow like that go ahead but as for me and my family we will not be back..and when i have my own family we wont be either.....unless the prices go down..lol.....hope this helps

say what ????. my family and i have been loyal boiling pot customers for years. the shrimp plate was always our choice, with the tilapia and/or catfish plates running a close second. the quantity, quality and taste was always wonderful! agoodcasual place to eat - as well as easy to order to go dishes. sure, i ate out of a paper box-thingy, my sides were in styrofoam ... all to be eaten with plastic utensils and paper napkins. but, it worked! now !!! ??? !!! to increase the shrimp platter from $13.99 to $25.00 with no increase in service and/or (especially) friendliness from the staff taking my order is beyond sensibility! when/if i pay a minimum of $50 for 2 dinners, i am going to be seated, have my taken by a wait-staff member, eat on "real" plates with "real" silverware, and when i finish i will wipe my mouth with a cloth napkin. not a tiny paper one that will shred with the first use - plus i won't be expected to bus my own table!!! for that amount of $$s, no one would expect to line up to order it, cart the food to a table oneself on a plastic tray ... in addition to get one's own drink and condiments in a communal beverage station. believe me, i don't have a problem doing that - but i do have a problem paying $50 for the food with no change in anything else! tilapia plates increased from $10.99 to $17? get real! this is not a 5-star rated restaurant with 5-star service! i can eat shrimp from oodles of restaurants within 5 miles of yours and have a wait-staff member serve me - for w-a-y less than $50. yes, i loved your food - but i will now miss your food!

big menu change. boiling pot used to be a great place to get seafood at a reasonable price. the new menu has changed much of that. different menu items and much different prices. i went to get a full size shrimp po-boy that my girlfriend and i were going to split. used to cost $14 or $15 and was plenty to fill up both. new menu price for a 6-inch shrimp po-boy w/ no fries is $10. i went w/ the fried shrimp basket instead for $10 and my g/f got the fried crawfish tails basket. while my portions were enough, hers included much more food and she took home quite a bit of food for leftovers. the prices have changed dramatically and so has the menu. went in knowing i was going to get out of there for under $20 but it was about $30 after it was said and done. the food wasgoodbut it was not the same place... plus the girl taking our order had her head resting on her hand and didn't look up the whole time... never agoodstart to a meal.

good lunch on 10/12/13. we stopped by for lunch on saturday the 12th. spouse had the dungeness crab and i had the platter (oysters, shrimp, and catfish). the crabs were well-prepared and there were no leftovers. the platter was a mixed bag in that the oysters and shrimp were excellent (as always); the catfish didn't quite make par. the catfish wasn't cooked well enough and had a bit too much fat from the skin side for my taste. overall verygoodmeal and we'll back the next time we're in mobile.

poboys and wraps. we visited for lunch on 6/12/10. you wait in line to order and they call your number when it's ready, so there's no traditional table service. we had the oyster and shrimp poboys and a shrimp wrap and they were outstanding. the oysters were large, breaded just right and cooked in fresh oil with no greasy residue. the shrimp were medium size, breaded with a touch of spice reminiscent of crab/shrimp boil.

a half poboy or single wrap is more than enough for most appetites. the poboys were loaded - the oysters and shrimp were overflowing the french loaf on all sides. defnitely on my list for a return visit.

bugs? yum!!. bugs - also known as crawdads or crayfish - have been a favorite since i was a child: jus' cook 'em up. same here: walk in, belly up to the bar & they call your number when your fish is done. donald (my husband) prefers his as part of a po'boy, tho boiling pot has *many* others (we were told the tuna's delightful). no servers, just a clean place to eat, & the folks we saw there were a pleasant mix of locals & stunned tourists - 1 guy near us got a fried flounder & by the gods there was a whole flounder, fins, eyes & all, fried up on his plate! huge portions - i nearly couldn't finish my lunch portion, & donald had only a half-po'boy, so fair warning. no frills, justgood*fresh* hot food. & if you're on your way from atlanta to a houston wedding, that's all you want.

catfish poboys!. this place is awesome! man this place cranks in some money! you'll have to wait in line to order, but after that it's smooth sailing...
the prices are slightly above average, but the portions are huge! the catfish and oyster poboys are sogoodalong with some hush puppies!
the place is clean with nice, glossy wooden booths and tables.
