fantastic service. one of the absolutely best places in terms of customer service. went with a friend who had an egg allergy and they could specifically cater some of the dishes to it. they would individually have a single wrap without mayo, or change the batter of another to avoid egg. the level ofservicewas just a great experience, they would bring out dishes and explain what everything was and what was in it.

portion wise its a little small, but its just a very nice and accommodating place.

enjoyed a delicious dinner here on the weekend. we shared the corn, pulled pork tacos, lamb belly tacos & toro fried chicken. made sure we left enough room to try the coconut rice pudding also. really want to return soon and try the lamb shoulder which sounds amazing. this place has 2 sittings - 5.30 & 8pm and is a great local place. will definitely return to try and eat our way through the rest of the menu. staff andservicewere fantastic also.

it can get very busy and booking is a must if you have set your eyes on trying these mouthwatering dishes. i ordered the kingfish sashimi, which was light and delicious, one of the best i have ever tried, the soft shell crab tacos that were absolutely a must have, the pork belly bao that was on special and was equally as flavoursome and the deconstructed peanut butter cheesecake that was slightly disappointing compared to the other superb dishes. the pork belly was nice and sticky, a texture that i have never tried before but definitely enjoyable! i had to say i enjoyed all the savoury dishes equally as they were just as delectable as the next! i had high hopes for the peanut butter cheesecake as it sounded inviting but it wasn't as good as i expected. it was good but lacking in the impactful flavour component. still delightful nonetheless. overall a very palatable experience and would definitely come and try black toro again. only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that the servings are rather small and that the price is rather expensive!

$16 for a small piece of cauliflower was disappointing, we didn't like the flavour. was a bit bland. everything else was tasty and delicious!

great meal, fast, efficient, tasty. visited on a friday night with three friends from work, two of us that are gluten free and one vegan. they happily provided a menu with the gf and vegan options marked on the menu and there was plenty of choice for all. the three-times cooked chips were to die for and highly recommended. i had the pulled pork tacos which were delicious. the meal came quickly and theservicewas friendly. they were busy on the night so i recommend making a booking if you can to ensure you get a table.

i enjoyed having dinner here the other day with my wife and a friend. the wait staff was really nice and the food was delicious. there were not many vegetarian options so we ended up ordering almost everything vegetarian on the menu, to taste. theservicewas bit slow but the taste made it up for it.

another western restaurant on the kingsway strip, the black toro specialises in meat!! the prices are a little steep but you get great, friendlyserviceand high quality food every time. would recommend coming here for a special occasion or date.

the food was very average and below average customerservice. we sent the tacos back as they didn’t taste fresh. there was no apology from the waitstaff and instead we were told that they taste so because they are made on sight , which didn’t make any sense . the waitstaff didn’t bother striking the tacos off the list when it came to billing . please go to any mexican fast food restaurant instead , they serve
better food andservice.

had really goodservicefor a majority of the night and then we were forgotten. sat with empty dishes in front of us for over half an hour. never got offered a dessert menu which was a shame. couldn’t even make eye contact with anyone to get the bill. we were only acknowledged when we went up to pay.

came here for hubby birthday dinner. the food was delicious and so fresh.
the taco was superb and dessert is yummy.

after reading all the positive reviews about the black toro, i was pretty excited to try it!
we started with the jalapeño & cheese croquettes, white fish ceviche and the prawn quesadilla! (amazing!)
also pictured were the soft shell tacos and wagyu beef sliders.
this restaurant did not disappoint at all!servicewas fantastic and quick, the food was faultless.
i can’t wait to come back!

drove a solid 45 mins to black toro and felt exhausted after trying to find a car park for another 10 mins. glen waverly is really an evolving area eh...

ordered some wine to start with and that loosen me up a bit thank god. we shared a few dishes among the three of us the prawn taco ish dish was definitely the highlight! croquette wasn't too bad either so was the half chicken. dessert was a bit too sweet and we made a mistake by ordering the sharing platter, it was a bit to much in the end...

overall a great experience.servicewas really quick and friendly!

this area suburb of melbourne is very eclectic and the range of cuisine is exceptional. fast efficientservicewith a smile and great tasting food. not very cheap but you get what you pay for.

i’ll start by addressing the atmosphere. it’s lovely, illuminating and has a colourful scheme.
theserviceis thorough and excellent. they cater for any dietary requirements and provide in depth knowledge about the food.

the drinks are also great, varying from jarritos to beers, wines and cocktails.

the food is the main highlight and the feed me menu delivers in spades. the corn is fresh, juicy and has a lovely complimenting sauce with cheese to give more flavour.
the jalapeño croquettes are smooth, mildly spicy and addictive while the pork tacos are messy but succulent. the crab tacos are sensational and a must try, crispy and not at all oily.

finally the pork shoulder slow cooked, with sweet apple sauce slaw and coconut rice, and lettuce is an odd combination, but works to bring in unique ideas to a flavoursome explosion in your mouth.

overall it’s a nice mexican place. mexican can be a hit or miss but black toro delivers.

i’m not going to write up a bio of what the black toro offer as that has already been covered countless times in other reviews. maybe we expected too much after reading mostly positive reviews but we found it to be overpriced with very inconsistentservicestandards between staff. we ordered a range of dishes, none of which stood out as being particularly good quality or value. it wasn’t a terrible experience but we wouldn’t bother returning.
