the bank bar & brasserie

we arrived at hamilton at 3pm in the afternoon, and were most grateful to see that this was the only places still open for lunch.

the building is beautiful by the way, so picturesque. the interior has a nice ambience too, especially the back of the restaurant which looks to be a library.

was a little bit disappointed at how slow we were greeted/the service was though, given that there were hardly any people, but plenty of staffs behind the desk.

they have this wonderful $12 lunch deal which i highly recommend. the serving size of my pumpkin & feta ravioli was a bit small, but it was  delicious, with plenty of vegetables, and this creamy flavourful tomato sauce. it was one of those dish that would definitely cost $17-$29 at fancier italian restaurants. husband had their spare ribs, which he added $2 to change the chips to wedges. he said it was decent. all in all, definitely good value for money. the lemon lime and bitters were also one of the better ones.

a good place for lunch or pub grub!

a lunch at hamilton. parking had been terribly difficult. seafood chowder was excellent - not too thick yet creamy; spicy beef salad was below par - veggie wasn't fresh & beef tough, fish & chips was good with lovely fried chips & fish; steak sandwich (angus sirloin on toast) was nicely cooked. coffees were not hot & messy in presentation. (food - 3.5/5; service - 3.5/5; ambience - 3/5)

service was super friendly and quick. food however was extremely average. had the chicken bacon and mushroom carbonara. the chicken was super dry and over cooked and the sauce was flavourless, and there were all of 3 slices of mushroom in amongst the pasta. bit disappointing.

the bank is always a great place to eat – lunch or dinner! it’s nice and quiet at lunch time, also with $12 lunch meals. at dinner time it starts to get a lot livelier. i wouldn’t say the food is anything spectacular but has good vibes and generally good value for money.

we had dinner here when we visited hamilton last time and really enjyed the food here. we couldn't believe it was only $20 for a main. the vibe was also very nice. would definitely go back therr again.

i got the seafood chowder and also shared a salad. the wait for food was short and the food itself very flavoursome always ejoy dining here.

took my grandies for lunch.. we didn't get a very warm welcome but we're served quickly and food arrived in good time. we ordered pizza n fries. the pizza was typical bar type pizza but tasty enough n kids enjoyed it. we sat out back in the courtyard which was nice n breezy for a hot day. okay for bar food, noisy for a lunch time n not really my kinda place but over all grandies enjoyed their trip out for lunch and price wise okay.

our dining experience at this resto had definitely set the bar high. the service, the food, the price and the ambiance completely left us wanting for more. we ordered salt & pepper squid for entree, pork spare ribs and their famous cheap sunday $10 steak for mains. we ended the night with a chocolate cheesecake. the tables were almost full with people from different age bracket which goes to show how good this place is. this resto should be on your itinerary list if visiting hamilton central area. highly recommended!

bit of a road trip down to h town today for a b'day lunch @ the b, out in the court yard. the music playing was really good and the court yard's well sheltered and is nice and bright. we just shared two $12 lunch specials as platters had also been on offer, your usual pub grub, but nicely presented and food hot.

we ordered the caesar salad and beef nachos. the salad ingredients were lovely and fresh and nachos tasty. adequate for two $12 specials. the bar staff were really friendly too.

went here for dinner when we arrived in hamilton from auckland. staff seated us in their restaurant and were very friendly. atmosphere is really good but lights seemed very dark. had some dj's out on the deck which was played throughout the bar/restaurant and brought a really cool vibe to the place. meals were very well priced and tasted great. will be back.

went to the bank bar recently for dinner with a large party. food and service both terrible. three main meals were forgotten on our table and never showed up. to justify the meals never showing up, the wait staff told us that apparently we had cancelled the mains - not the case.the quality of food that was delivered was bland, meager and under-cooked. will not be returning again.

second time here. this time we didn't feel too hungry but obviously needed dinner. came here for a small dinner. they had their $20 dinner menu which was great.

ordered a angus beef burger and my partner ordered a angus sirloin. enjoyed my burger and chips although it would've been much better if the burger bun was warm and maybe a bit softer. otherwise it would be prefect. the angus beef was very tender and juicy. another thing would be to have aioli sauce for the chips instead of tomato but no biggie. was very filling. couldn't finish my chips :(

the customer service here is good until it gets super busy then you literally have to wait a long time for someone to seat you or have to go up to the counter and asked to be seated or if there are seats available. so best to make booking if you plan on going on a busy night like friday and saturday

have been here a few times, the food is okay, not the best but okay for its price (lunch time). staff are pretty friendly and accommodating. nice and tidy inside :)

was in town today so decided to look around for somewhere to go for lunch. i hadn't been to the bank for a while so decided to go there. i like their $12 lunch menu good variety and good value for money. i decided on the blt with fries. it was ok the fries were cold though. overall what i expected nothing much has changed since my last visit over a year ago. the staff were really friendly and the food came out fast.

been in to the bank a couple of times lately for lunch. it of a legend this place in it a few times in years gone by. it would have to be said the lunch was a bit of a non event but adequate, the coffee was average and really the old battleship needs some tlc inside and out. some decent furniture out the front would be a good start and the battleship grey wall paint inside is frankly depressing. this spot is quite capable of been fantastic again
