first time trying thai basil. the ambiance is simple, functional and classy. the restaurant is aesthetic and minimally decorated. we were greeted at the entrance by a thai traditional costume clad lady with a sawadi khaa which was pleasantly surprising and made us feel really welcome. our server was linda who was very sweet and helped us making our menu selection for lunch. thank you linda!

coming to the food, we tried limited items as their portion sizes are huge -

1. tom yum (prawns): oddly this has coconut milk (not tom khaa) in it but the flavour was good. the prawns were very fresh and big in size. the veggies in the soup was also very fresh. it can easily service 2-3 people.

2. green papaya salad: fresh, crunchy, flavourful and a huge portion again. what’s not to love?!

3. pad thai (eggs & chicken): they customised to make it slightly saucy for us, don’t do this though. the noodles were again fresh and tasty. we added our own touches to it with the garnish and sauces they had served us up front which really helped enhance the flavours.

4. chestnut with coconut milk (dessert): very different and weirdly nice. basically it’s fresh chestnuts with coconut milk. make sure to stir / mix the liquid from the bottom so you get this slightly sweet and salty taste. we liked it enough to finish more than half of it.

so all in all we loved our meal. the service was nice, and the food was great. only suggestion would be to help explain to the guests what all the sauces / garnish is for or can be used it. we used it mostly in our pad thai without which we found it bland. but to each his own.

if you expect indianised thai food, thisplaceis not for you. but for fresh, flavourful, happy food, do give thisplacea shot.

definitely going to be back to try the thai curry and some other items on their menu. hoping for the experience to live up to these levels again.

khapon khaa!!

p.s. my food pictures aren’t great, zero effort put in.

it's the most authentic thai cuisine restaurant you can visit in bengaluru. period! good ambience, highly courteous staffs, delicious starters, main course, drinks and desserts. the raw mango salad is the best in town. many thanks to the owner, mr ravi, who took really good care of us. it is a must visitplacewith great positive vibe!!!

solidplaceif you're a broke ass student and in a rush. food is pretty mediocre but that's reflected in me sitting here surrounded by mainly white people. my noodles were too wet, vegetables undercooked and they couldn't bother putting more "sauce in a jar" into the damn wok. friend got the real asian experience though, her noodles were both under and overcooked. talk about ying and yang! way better options down the road. the staff are lovely though.

i visited thisplaceyesterday with my wife for dinner while strolling on bloor street west. we reached theplacearound 8:30 pm and found theplaceto be quite empty. the ambiance of thisplaceis decent. we ordered for thai green curry with jasmine rice. the curry was really delicious and we loved it. we also tried the pad thai noodles but found it to be too sweet.  in drinks we had the iced lemongrass and it was good too.
the staff here is extremely polite and sweet !

nice quietplacefor dinner.
my husband and i have recently decided to start a plant-based lifestyle and he wanted to try new places.
we tried the thai basil chilli eggplant & tofu and the "pangang" curry.
absolutely delicious. love the thickness of the curry. the coconut milk flavour was amazing.
the eggplant was a little bit on the sweet side, but it was really yummy.

usually thisplaceis pretty reliable in a few ways
- quick service so perfect for a set lunch hour
- great lunch options and a variety of menu items to choose from
- delicious food

sadly today they did not win marks for food. ordered the beef with broccoli lunch special and did not get something yummy. instead got over done, chewy, bland beef. sent it back and got tofu pad thai instead. (i skipped the meat because at the same meal my friend ordered the shrimp pad thai and the shrimp tasted bad - like you could tell they were from frozen. )

if it weren't for today i would have rated thisplacea 4 but the really poor execution of pretty standard thai offerings has me back peddling

if you do come here for lunch chicken pad thai has been delicious the few times i've had it.

another of the consistently good thai restaurants i've eaten at in toronto.i haven't had a dish here that wasn't good, and i've had quite a few dishes.i always try to vary my order lest i settle into a pattern and i haven't beendisappointed yet. they also do som tam well at thai basil, a must for any restaurant boasting 'thai' in its name.they have a contemporary but warm and welcoming interior. they also deliver within the downtown core of the gta, which is a really nice at the end of a work week. for those of you looking searching for a midday spot to eat: theplacehasone of the best lunch deals in town, with more food than you can eat for nine dollars.

best and real thai food so far. we had been their downtown location last year, and found the food was really good especially it really tasted like what i had when i worked in bangkok for 3 years, and my thai friends usually go to this restaruant otherwise thye would cook at home. it's good that they open a new one in richmond hill...the interior is gorgeous, i felt like going back to thailand, maybe i miss thatplacea lot. food was delicious and i found they had even more different items that i would not find in other thai restaurant. strongly recommend this place.
