food was very mild - was definitely expecting more spicy, given it's thai food. and also, coconut milk was added to tom yum soup - as far as i am aware, when coconut milk gets added, it becomes tom kha soup rather than tom yum, yet they insisted that tom yum has coconut milk as well (please google... tom yum with coconut milk itself is called tom kha).

very well executed and quality at par to what you get in thailand! my best wishes to the team out here at thai basil!

what we had included phad krapow, prawn fritters and sticky rice with mango.

nicely designed and beautiful interior. tried to make it very authentic thai.

i've lived in thailand for few months in the past and i can vouce for the authenticity of the taste. of course not exactly but, very close.

only thing i didn't like in the day i had visited for lunch, that they didn't have ice cubes on that day. i mean how can you not have ice cubes in this summer? you can just go and buy it. that's baaad from the management.

service was excellent. the girls there knew the menu thoroughly. love the way they used numbers for the dishes, very much like thailand.

cheers and all the best.

first time trying thai basil. the ambiance is simple, functional and classy. the restaurant is aesthetic and minimally decorated. we were greeted at the entrance by a thai traditional costume clad lady with a sawadi khaa which was pleasantly surprising and made us feel really welcome. our server was linda who was very sweet and helped us making our menu selection for lunch. thank you linda!

coming to the food, we tried limited items as their portion sizes are huge -

1. tom yum (prawns): oddly this has coconut milk (not tom khaa) in it but the flavour was good. the prawns were very fresh and big in size. the veggies in the soup was also very fresh. it can easily service 2-3 people.

2. green papaya salad: fresh, crunchy, flavourful and a huge portion again. what’s not to love?!

3. pad thai (eggs & chicken): they customised to make it slightly saucy for us, don’t do this though. the noodles were again fresh and tasty. we added our own touches to it with the garnish and sauces they had served us up front which really helped enhance the flavours.

4. chestnut with coconut milk (dessert): very different and weirdly nice. basically it’s fresh chestnuts with coconut milk. make sure to stir / mix the liquid from the bottom so you get this slightly sweet and salty taste. we liked it enough to finish more than half of it.

so all in all we loved our meal. the service was nice, and the food was great. only suggestion would be to help explain to the guests what all the sauces / garnish is for or can be used it. we used it mostly in our pad thai without which we found it bland. but to each his own.

if you expect indianised thai food, this place is not for you. but for fresh, flavourful, happy food, do give this place a shot.

definitely going to be back to try the thai curry and some other items on their menu. hoping for the experience to live up to these levels again.

khapon khaa!!

p.s. my food pictures aren’t great, zero effort put in.

nice, clean and spacious restaurant.
courteous staff and prompt service.

we didn’t like the taste of tom kha veg and thai green curry. sticky rice had a funny smell. perhaps it is an acquired taste for authentic cuisine.

portion size was enormous and good value for money if you like the taste.
we may not go again.

definitely lists no. 1 on the most authentic thai 🇹🇭 food available in bangalore. no star hotel comes closer to their food. ravi & team have been serving the same quality of food and service for years together. 💯 recommend

it's the most authentic thai cuisine restaurant you can visit in bengaluru. period! good ambience, highly courteous staffs, delicious starters, main course, drinks and desserts. the raw mango salad is the best in town. many thanks to the owner, mr ravi, who took really good care of us. it is a must visit place with great positive vibe!!!

solid place if you're a broke ass student and in a rush. food is pretty mediocre but that's reflected in me sitting here surrounded by mainly white people. my noodles were too wet, vegetables undercooked and they couldn't bother putting more "sauce in a jar" into the damn wok. friend got the real asian experience though, her noodles were both under and overcooked. talk about ying and yang! way better options down the road. the staff are lovely though.

the mango salad 11.95 came with frozen mango chunks, only 3 shrimp and pooled in dressing. it arrived moments after i orded it so it must have been pre-made. the waitress did not check in to ask how the food was.
the 1 star is for a nice-looking restaurant but everything else was terrible.

the elegant thai basil on bloor just west of major serves excellent thai dishes, in a relaxed atmosphere, by friendly and courteous staff. menus are indicative and adjustments to particular tastes are attended to with no fuss.

so went here after reading the reviews and i can say i was absolutely and utterly disappointed. i ordered beef pad see ew and spring rolls for carryout. a good pad see ew should have a nice rich brown sauce. the noodles should be somewhat firm and somewhat brown from the gravy. it's not rocket science and should be a simple dish to perfect. what i received was not even close. the noodles were pure mush with most of them broken and in small pieces. they were a dull grey in color. there was so little sauce used that at first i thought i was just given old plain rice noodles. the whole dish tasted bland and watery. i ordered beef pad see ew but i got maybe two small pieces of beef and then a smattering of what looked like chopped meat. i'd be shocked if there was more than an ounce in total. the spring rolls were no better. two small rolls(and i mean tiny) which were 90% wrapping. you couldn't even tell there was any filling. they tasted like fried dough and nothing else. i was given a small little container of dipping sauce which contained maybe a teaspoon of sauce. there was so little i thought it was empty. all of this for $20. it's absurd to pay that kinda money for so little and such low quality. lesson learned...i'll never go back.

i've visited thailand before and i am very impressed with thai basil because it tastes pretty authentic - especially the curry and the pad thai. service is good and the price is very reasonable. highly recommend!!!
