the elegant thaibasilon bloor just west of major serves excellent thai dishes, in a relaxed atmosphere, by friendly and courteous staff. menus are indicative and adjustments to particular tastes are attended to with no fuss.

i've visited thailand before and i am very impressed with thaibasilbecause it tastes pretty authentic - especially the curry and the pad thai. service is good and the price is very reasonable. highly recommend!!!

nice quiet place for dinner.
my husband and i have recently decided to start a plant-based lifestyle and he wanted to try new places.
we tried the thaibasilchilli eggplant & tofu and the "pangang" curry.
absolutely delicious. love the thickness of the curry. the coconut milk flavour was amazing.
the eggplant was a little bit on the sweet side, but it was really yummy.

with the bloor st landscape constantly changing, restaurants are also keeping up with the pace.  for thai food, walking west of spadina on bloor, thaibasilshould be your first and only stop.
the menu has a nice variety of dishes including classic thai dishes that you can find in the greater toronto region. 
the pad thai, a popular dish, was generous and flavorful and well presented.  you can start off with spring rolls and even grilled calamari for starters.  everything on the menu is coded according to level of spiciness.  the waitress was careful to ask how hot we would like a particular dish.  the crispybasilwith mixed seafood seemed small compared to the pad thai.  maybe i should have ordered another dish ;)  mango ice cream is a good closer although sticky rice and mango is pretty good if you welcome more starches.
the jasmine tea was served in a glass mug with the tea bag.  they came back to pour hot water on the same teabag which was somewhat awkward.  i would have preferred perhaps a lovely teapot.  this brings me to ambiance.  it was a busy night but the setting was slightly off.  the setting was a bit too modern despite the lovely paintings.  the music was also too "western" for the location.  ambiance makes a difference to the experience.  nevertheless the waiting staff was very kind and helpful.
most restaurants around the area seem to close at 10pm.  torontonians should stay up later and enjoy!

great food at thai basil. one of my favorite restaurants. the food is always delicious and well prepared. you can tell that amy always uses fresh ingredients. that's why she is top rated by customers and even the country of thailand! an added bonus-amy is always there to greet you with a smile and thoughtful words. thaibasilby amy is the best !

warm and friendly with great thai food.. we have eaten at thaibasilby amy many times but never thought to give it a review... it's great! portions are just right to large. that aside, everything is delicious and very nicely presented. we'll be back.

first visit--will be back!. i just went to thaibasilfor the first time tonight and will definitely be back! my to-go order was ready in less than 10 minutes from the time i ordered it. the drunken noodles with beef was excellent. i got a little spice and it was the perfect amount for me. i'd say i'm looking forward to trying other things, but it will be hard not to get the same thing again!

every time i go to a new thai restaurant, i order one of three things: red curry, green curry or pad thai. those are staple thai dishes and honestly, the quality of any of those three is very telling of the restaurant’s overall detail to food. i ordered the thai red curry with chicken . it was a red curry cooked with stripped bamboo shoots, thai eggplants, red pepper,basilleaves, coconut milk and chicken. as for taste, it was great and as good as any thai places i’ve tried before. i would definitely recommend this restaurant for their food in that you won’t be disappointed. however, i do have some small concerns about their presentation of the food.

great for tasty thai food. their thaibasileggplants & minced pork is unique and delicious! great place to sit and eat. very small, clean and well set up. located downtown close to a subway station. they also home deliver after lunch hours which is great.

this is by far the most consistent and best thai food i’ve eaten in toronto, and one of the only where
i’ve found really great som tam. they have a contemporary but warm and welcoming interior. they  also deliver within the downtown core of the gta, which is a really nice thing at the end of a work week.  it’s hard to delineate from our season favourites, of panang curry and thaibasilchili eggplant, but we  always make a point to try something new, and have never been disappointed. as a side note, they
have one of the best lunch deals in town, with more food than you can eat for nine dollars.

addicted. we first visited thaibasilby amy 6 months ago with my daughter in tow. what an amazing place! the food was incredible, the ambience inviting, and the staff welcoming. i was so impressed that i couldn't wait to go back but, because of morning sickness, was unable to until 3 weeks ago. amy came up to the table and asked where our little girl was. then she asked how work was, remembering where both of us are employed. my husband couldn't remember the appetizer he had last time until she reminded him. as with the first time, the food was perfect. the prices are more than fair, especially considering the quality of each dish. i am truly addicted and have ordered the pad thai to go several times since our last visit. what a wonderful experience!

a real jewel -- addicting!!!. thaibasilhas become the weekly "go to" favorite of ours. everything is very fresh and the flavors are wonderful. my favorites are the thaibasilsauce and the pad prik king (spicy sauce with green beans). my husband loves all of the curries, particularly the panang curry -- says it is the best he has had anywhere -- by far. the prices are extremely reasonable and amie, the owner, makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome. be sure to ask her for the ginger dressing (not on the menu); they make it with fresh ginger, shredded carrots, and orange juice --- it alone is worth the trip! this restaurant is a little jewel and it you haven't been there you are really missing out on a fantastic experience. the chef is a wizard with flavors that you will find addicting!!! just go!

tasty, affordable, beautiful. for all the curry lovers out there, try the curry duck. i'm a curry addict, and all the curries at thaibasilare great but the duck one is my ultimate favourite. there's grapes and pineapple in it and the duck meat is extremely tender.

horrible!!. i haven't been to thaibasilfor at least 6 months so i was really looking forward to a recent early dinner there.

service was horrible. our servers had no personality, didn't offer to bring us water and took our full order at the same time (since she neglected us for the first 10 mins we were there). food arrives, she doesn no quality check. both dishes taste horrible. sodium overload and low quality meats were used. food tasted exactly like something from a food court.

never going back to thaibasilagain.
