great tamales. we finally made a trip to tellez for some tamales to go. the interior is straightforward with a cafeteria line serving all types of breakfast tacos. the service was efficient and amiable. their version justifiably ranks as the better tamales in sa. the masa toporkratio leans more towards pork, and a twist is a sprinkling of cheese worked into the masa. the seasoning is right on point,, albeit lighter on chili and coming than other establishments. it's only about a ten minute drive, so next time it is barbacoa.

it's good but.... we finally tried the tamales, they are good but... i'm sorry, they're not ruben's. we tried theporkand the chicken for christmas because we didn't want to wait the 4 hours at ruben's. the tamales needed some seasoning for flavor, they were bland and tasteless. (sorry, just honest)
i have gone by and sampled their tacos and again i was not impressed. call me picky, but i like the thick tortillas when eating carne guisada so the tortilla stays together instead of a hole forming and leak all over my shirt.

tellez has got the traditional tex-mex version of theporktamale down pat. perfect ratio of masa to meat with just the right seasoning. the jalapeno porks are good also, especially with a good mexican beer.
