go there. just good stuff, especially the chicken tamales.

great tamales. we finally made a trip to tellez for some tamales to go. the interior is straightforward with a cafeteria line serving all types of breakfast tacos. the service was efficient and amiable. their version justifiably ranks as the better tamales in sa. the masa to pork ratio leans more towards pork, and a twist is a sprinkling of cheese worked into the masa. the seasoning is right on point,, albeit lighter on chili and coming than other establishments. it's only about a ten minute drive, so next time it is barbacoa.

best tamales in the city. love the barbacoa also. breakfast taco line moves pretty fast and great assortment of tacos. i rate the tamales as a 10, the barbacoa a 9, and the tacos a 9. their flour and corn tortillas are terrific, very home made tasting. this review us for the general mcmullen location which i frequent.

tellers tamales. tellez tamales are absolutely wonderful, and are as good, as homemade tamales. no matter when you buy them, they always maintain the same excellent quality. other tamales makers in town always make a rushed version of therir tamales during the busy holiday season. you are missing out if you have not eaten a tellez. tamale,. a. rodriguez

pork tamales. tasted like my mama's enough meat and not overpowered by the masa!!!!

it's good but.... we finally tried the tamales, they are good but... i'm sorry, they're not ruben's. we tried the pork and the chicken for christmas because we didn't want to wait the 4 hours at ruben's. the tamales needed some seasoning for flavor, they were bland and tasteless. (sorry, just honest)
i have gone by and sampled their tacos and again i was not impressed. call me picky, but i like the thick tortillas when eating carne guisada so the tortilla stays together instead of a hole forming and leak all over my shirt.

one of my favorites. i love tamales! these are some of my favorite ones to purchase until my family makes them at christmas. i had a friend visiting from helsinki who had never tried tamales so of course i took him here. they serve cafeteria style so we ordered a couple of barbacoa tacos, a menudo, some tamales to eat right away and even a brain taco. it was all good. the barbacoa not too greasy, flavorful menudo, hot tamales and even the brain taco had a creamy texture that was good. my friend really liked the flavors of these mexican delicacies. of course we took a couple dozen of tamales to go and off to the mercado for some shopping.

do not buy day old tortillas. i purchased a package of "day old" tortillas and found them to be moldy. when i returned 10 minutes later to get a fresh dozen gabriel wanted to exchange them for another "day old" dozen stating the fresh tortillas were a different price and wanted me to pay the difference. the reason they were wet and moldy is because they display them on the food steamer counters. what about my return trip to the restaurant being an inconvenience? gabriel did not care and asked what did i want. no moldy day old tortillas, this is for sure and i will not return here.

andrew zimmern eats here. this place is tamale king for many and has a good reputation and following around town. come in and order a few hot and fresh to munch on or buy several dozen to go. i have done both and have been satisfied with the tamales i have tried for the most part. they are still a bit light on the meat stuffing to masa ratio, but then i use mi casa "hog legs" as the benchmark by which i gauge all tamales.

can't comment on the barbaco though. and i think i will leave the cow head consumption to andrew zimmern types.

too good! tamales are to die for and the barbacoa..mmmm i highly recommend them except for tripas..they were tough and tasteless. hope this helps!

rude & insulting. i agree 100% with maricella's review, as i think i got same woman she mentioned when i went this morning. i have no clue why (i was not disrespectful and made no special/unusual requests; just tamales & barbacoa), but her demeanor & tone was immediately & continually rude throughout our interaction. and as i was standing there in the line contemplating whether or not i should ever come back, she delivered the coup de grace that sealed the deal for me with her response in the following exchange - me: "may i also have 6 corn tortillas?" rude woman: "can you say 'please'?" wth?!?!?! note that i did not give her a command by saying "give me...", "i want...", or "i'll take..." as i commonly received from customers back in my food service years. i said "may i...", as it is the both the proper and polite form for a request. but apparently not proper and polite enough for her! the irony and audacity of this tacky woman suddenly demanding courtsey would've been mildly comical if it weren't so stunningly aggravating. i recognize that this may be perceived as oversensitve overkill considering this is just a tamale shop and not exaclty a fine dining establishment aspiring to michelin 3-star status. but i don't think it's too much to ask that i simply not be insulted or treated like a jerk for absolutely no reason when i'm about to pay a company money for the goods or services they're providing. on a related note, the $.60 they charged for one little to-go cup of pico was obscene!! bottom line, the actual taste and quality factors of the food were entirely trumped by the rediculous experience i had ordering, which probably only lasted 2 minutes. i refuse to patronize businesses that allow their service staff to cop trashy attitudes to customers. i will never go back or otherwise buy/eat their food and i'll be sure to tell everyone i know the same.

very rude service. went in to buy tacos and and older woman behind the counter was very rude! will never go back there again!
would not recommend this place.
