i visited this place with my wife and colleagues from work after a tiring day ! we initially ordered for beers followed by couple of cocktails. the cocktails were amazing ! along with drinks we ordered for home made fries and chicken nuggets.servicewas good too !

a great spot for dinner with a simple but classic menu.  i had the braised beef and my wife had the steak.  both meals were fantastic.  the atmosphere is very relaxed and they've created a cool retro feel with old mirrors, classic phones (that were ringing) and copper all over the place.
we sat at the bar which was more comfortable than it sounds, and theservicewas great.  prices were fair too.  check it out for a good spot not far off the main strip

the dominion square tavern offers a great ambiance and decoration, and the food is very tasty.

but...
in this day and age when more than half the population has food intolerances, allergies or follows specific diets, there needs to be some flexibility with the dishes...
refusing to change the sides of a dish to another one for cost reasons is very disappointing. the prices are not through the roof, but not cheap either. i do not think switching the 'mashed puree with cheddar' to the 'kale and carrot puree' makes such a price difference, and that the waiter should talk down with attitude to me to say no, the chef is very rigid on that when i am asking the question.

i have heard this refusal of changing the sides before once at another restaurant, and the reason mentioned was food paring and taste concerns. if this was the case here too, i can understand, but maybe the customer should just be warned that it might not be the ideal match, and left to decide what they eat.... i am paying for this meal after all, and i would like to choose what i eat.

i will mention that i was offered a choice of a salad to replace the side, but when i go to a high-end restaurant to eat braised beef, i am not looking to eat it sided by a salad... i expect to be offered a full warm meal, and to be treated like my business matters, and that something will be done to make sure that i get something that will make me leave satisfied.

i am the one who suggested to a group of 5 to go to this restaurant. when i am not happy, next time, i might take my friends elsewhere...

customerserviceand satisfaction should always be a restaurant's number one concern, above even food taste and quality, and ambiance....

square dominion is a well established montreal landmark. the food is delicious and there is a great selection of beers, wine and spirits. cocktails are prepared with professional care and expertise.serviceis friendly and attentive. very comfortable 1920s authentic decor. short walk from the big hotels near place ville marie.

i had this place in my list for a while, but never had a chance until now. it was worth the wait. the taverne in wednesday had a low key, very relaxed, perfect ambiance for dining with a colleague visiting from out of town. theservicewas top-notch, always timely, friendly, prudent, and the same time both friendly and professional. the food was also great - a very well balanced pate de campagne and a striploin well seasoned and in the perfect doneness. my colleague had the corn fritters and the special, a braised pork on a bed of white beans (fava?) that was enjoyed very much. 

i will not hesitate to go back there, ill have to work my way through the menu.

cozy and casual. trendy tavern with a vintage bar decor. cozy and dimly lit atmosphere. simple cocktails and cuisine.serviceis okay but no more.

use to come here all the time when it opened given that they were the only good cocktail joint in town.

times have changed. cocktail game in montreal is up. dominion is not keeping upon creativity at all. not even brining back good classics. it's still the same cocktail menu.

the food is sub par especially or the price.servicewas horrid.

will likely stay away.

perfect date night restaurant. loved the deviled eggs and orange julip! price was very affordable at 110$+tax/tip.servicewas probably the best i've had in montreal. the entire team was above par. make sure to reserve ahead of time.

theserviceis incredibly friendly and attentive. the music is just loud enough for you to hear your favorite tunes without having to sacrifice comfortable conversation, and includes classics like the rolling stones’ under my thumb and some alternative amy winehouse. this place is bustling, it’s fun and it’s elegant. and it’s downtown. welcome to the roaring twenties, hope you enjoy your stay.

ridiculous manager. exceedingly slow decent-ish lunch. won't be back.. this is the third time i've been to tsd, and certainly the last time. every other time theservicehad been slow, but the drinks delicious. today's lunch experience (just water and an entree for my husband and i) was ridiculous.

after working as a restaurant manager, bartender, and server for many years, i give all restaurants some time before i write them off my list. after lunch today, taverne square dominion is no longer on my list. the server, anne-claude, was just fine, although she could have warned us that the meal i ordered (the salad with roasted chicken) was going to take forever. we were sitting down, with menus in hand, at 11:50. we ordered before the lunch rush arrived. the table next to us (arriving a good 15 minutes afterwards) had their dessert in hand just after we received our meal. note that we didn't receive our meal until 12:25. for a weekday, workday lunch this is ridiculous.

when i asked to speak to the manager to politely voice my concerns (i understand her name is virginie, although she never bothered to introduce herself - i found out her name from our server after our ridiculous conversation) -- she came and told us that it was our fault: "ordering off the menu" (e.g., taking anything but the special) takes time, and the roasted chicken in particular. fine. but this could have be explained by the server (a point she acknowledged), or by the menu. or by anything. maybe even by a tableside visit. then, virginie claimed that it had only taken 20 minutes "according to the computer." well, in real time, it took at least 35. she didn't apologize (even after i had mentioned that the salad greens had some sand / grit in them ... no it wasn't the croutons and i found sand at least three times), all she said was that the chicken was one of their most popular items and wished us "bon appétit" and walked away.

i didn't expect a discount, i just expected some common courtesy, concern for customer experience, and maybe just a little bit of professionalism. virginie failed on all fronts.

the succulent chicken unfortunately left a sour taste in our mouths, thanks to virginie.

(and don't worry, anne-claude still got 15% ... but would've gotten more if virgine wasn't so terrible)

no way!!!. not only the food is very plain but theserviceis non existent. i had a fish and chips. it was covered with batter that tasted nothing but flour and very little fish. soup tasted nothing. and for 2 1/2 onces of house wine you pay $8.00 plus tax plus service. there are so many other good restaurants in montreal. stay away from this one!!

theservicewas great and the food was delicious and well-presented. the decor is a trip back in time. i would definitely go back again.
