east side dominion square tavern is a popular meetingplaceyoung professionals, older professionals, university students and those who work in the downtown area. getting a table during the week during 5 a 7 is nearly impossible - reservations are highly recommended, especially for larger parties. with an affordable menu (super filling and delicious pulled pork sandwich is $16, equally filling but lighter beet salad is $14), a veritable selection of cocktails, wines and beers and a very friendly staff, the vintage atmosphere is unique and fun. i went with a friend on tuesday night for drinks, and the barmen were lovely enough to make us drinks off of the regular menu. sidenote: baldwin's barmacie and the whisky cafe are sister bars to dominion square. the resemblance in terms of attention to decor and ambiance is obvious. jquery(document).ready(function(){ jquery("#gallery-a8b9e203 .flickr-thumb img").flightbox({size_callback: get_sizes}); }); //--> view larger map view larger map

nice french vibe. great wine and ambiance. my friend recommends this as her first date restaurant and after experiencing the ambiance i can see why. dim lighting. old world meets new trendy decor. lovelyplaceto pass an evening in montreal. i tried the bangers and mash. mash was really good with fresh peas and italian parsley. great selection if wine. the chocolate fondant with raspberry sorbet was the best part of the night for me. my friends tried the guinness float and loved it too.

dominion square. have to agree--thisplaceis charming! i've brought people from all over the world and everyone loves it. i haven't had a main meal, but lots of appetizers, and of course, the famous gin julep.

ambiance here is its big selling factor, very lively and bright. theplacehas an old school feel right down to the waiters and bartenders. the drinks are good and so is the food. suggestion: try the devilled eggs, best i've ever had.

this is the kind ofplaceyou'll want to visit a lot! the vibe here is amazing! we were a group of 10 ladies, and yes we had a few glasses of wine! they were very accommodating with our mixing and sharing of items on the menu. and, the food was great! probably wouldn't go there for a quiet meal, as theplacehas lots of conversation and laughter buzzing throughout.

i visited thisplacewith my wife and colleagues from work after a tiring day ! we initially ordered for beers followed by couple of cocktails. the cocktails were amazing ! along with drinks we ordered for home made fries and chicken nuggets. service was good too !

greatplacein downtown montreal. it has a good variety of wines and delicious variety of food. the decor is cozy and comfortable. it is usually very busy on weekends.

i had thisplacein my list for a while, but never had a chance until now. it was worth the wait. the taverne in wednesday had a low key, very relaxed, perfect ambiance for dining with a colleague visiting from out of town. the service was top-notch, always timely, friendly, prudent, and the same time both friendly and professional. the food was also great - a very well balanced pate de campagne and a striploin well seasoned and in the perfect doneness. my colleague had the corn fritters and the special, a braised pork on a bed of white beans (fava?) that was enjoyed very much. 

i will not hesitate to go back there, ill have to work my way through the menu.

just not that great. disappointing food. the taste just isn't there but theplacelooks great for a drink. a bit snobby too.

such a greatplacetoo bad they are always so rure. i love this palce and have gone back a few times but the front door staff and anyone over the phone are always sooooo rude. why be soooo rude all the time. you have a great busyplacefantastic. please get off your high horse about it.
although i love the drinks and food and atmosphere, i think they have been unpleasant enough times for me to write thisplaceoff. too bad!

fancy a date at a charming 'taverne'? aplaceto grab a refreshing pimms cup with friends? or what about a sunday roast? thinking you're going to need to take a flight to the uk to experience one of the above? wrong. brought to you by the same group who brings you baldwin's and whisky café, i can assure you that you will find something to love about taverne square dominion. the people who frequent thisplacecan't get enough. i am frankly obsessed and would go as far as to call this one of my favourite spots in the city. if this is the first you're hearing of it-  fear not, it's located right in the heart of downtown montreal on metcalfe...so you have no excuse to skip out on this one! if not for the food and cocktails (all crafted with a british-flair), then come for the ambience. there is nothing like it. it is visually stunning and brings you back to the roaring twenties. grab a seat at the bar, or make a reservation for dinner. the dimly lit space is both romantic and fun and if i haven't made it clear enough already-  you need to go. pimms cup (right) what you'll find on the menu: we started with a scotch egg: followed by some 'moules au cidre & bacon': the special was a bavette steak atop a turnip puree (perfection):

amazing!!!!. i went here one night for cocktails with my friends (because i read that they were excellent) and wasn't really planning on eating, but we ended up eating too!

it is a gorgeousplacethat reminds me of a parisian brasserie. you feel completely transported!

our cocktails were delicious! i was feeling like i needed a fresh pick-me-up (was traveling all over theplacethat day), so i had the pimm's cup - very refreshing! also tried the royal gin fizz which was perfect if you love prosecco, and lastly, the rye gingerale - which was sweet, but in a rye way and very good if you don't like rye too much, but wanted to have a taste of rye.

the food we had was amazing and i wish we were more hungry! we had the bone marrow (delicious!) and the pork pate (also super delicious!). the dishes were rich in flavour and even the vegetables on the dish were phenomenal. i highly recommend it and i will definitely be back to try their sunday roasts!

stylishplacethat knows their cocktails. i had a great experience here. we got the sunday roast, and we both loved it. absolutely fantastic un-pretentious roast meat. really tastefully done decor too, it really transports me to a differentplaceand time.

the cocktails are great too, but they seem fairly small for the price. look forward to coming back and checking out the regular menu.
