tasty's burgers and fries

great burger and prime location!. tasty's is just what fernandina beach needed - a great burger joint that uses fresh ingredients and brings a vibrant atmosphere to downtown. my wife and i have been 4 times since the grand opening and it gets better each time as the restaurant continues to mature. while tasty's does offer sweet potato fries as an option, i recommend the regular or parmesan fries. they are freshly cut with a generous amount of sea salt. the burgers are delicious and quality meats are used. i also highly recommend a milkshake to accompany the burger and fries. they are hand scooped with real ice cream and top off the meal nicely. the recent special is a vanilla milkshake with jalapeños. sounds bizarre but is actually very good. the initial taste is vanilla ice cream but you also begin to taste a small hint of jalapeño...very unique. our go-to milkshake is chocolate with oreo cookies. tasty's also has a nice selection of craft beers at a reasonable price. one suggestion would be 1) not charging $0.50 for the tasty sauce and simply including in the price of the burgers or 2) giving customers a side of sauce, as the burger could use a more generous amount of sauce if you're paying extra.

overall, great burger, fries, milkshakes and a friendly staff. we will continue to dine here and support the local community.

an instant fixture. tasty's pitches itself as "a fresh alternative to fast food". it's a modern version of a vintage burger stand. it's definitely better than fast food chains, tastier and more authentic, and you feel much better eating there than down the street at the chains. it feels like more of a neighborhood gathering place, and since it's right there on centre across from the farmers market on saturdays, it has a really nice community feel and a classic one at that. plus the people are really nice.

the burgers are cooked nicely, have a flavorful char, and come out piping hot. the buns are nicer and somehow softer and with a butterier crust than your usual fast food stiff sponge. the fries are good and they've got sweet potato or regular as well as various flavorings. great shakes and a nice beer selection. they've got other items on the menu such as hot dogs and shrimp rolls but for me it will be a burger destination.

two visits. i never like to give a review to a new local place based on one visit, especially when they have just recently opened and might still be working out the kinks. so i chalked up my first visit which was less than ideal to a variety of factors and decided to wait until after my second visit.
both visits before the new year took place about 1:30 and the place was quite busy with standing room only although i was able to get a seat by the time my food was ready. know the weather this time of the year is iffy, but on both visits the outside temperature was comfortable and suitable for outside dining, but there was only 1 table outside.
cheeseburgers i ordered were good but the hot patty cooled quickly due to the very cold lettuce, tomato and bun it was placed inside. would be nice to offer a toasted bun as an option and should use the lettuce against the patty and then the tomato to keep the patty as warm as possible. patty doneness was a medium in both visits and quite juicy.
tasty fries were good but didn't rate them as exceptional. also, either i was portion shorted on both my visits or their serving container is too large as both times the container only appeared about 2/3 full. like the self-serve soda dispenser. nice selection of specialty beers.
might suggest that instead of taking names for order delivery, give a numbered stand (ala parkway grill) to eliminate any confusion and eliminate the calling out of names. on my first visit, my order was accidently claimed initially by another person with the same name and was handled so my order had to be resubmitted resulting in additional wait time and extra expense to restaurtant.
staff was very friendly and energetic. would be nice if they could fit in some more tables for those busy times which i am sure they will continue to have.

all around good!. enjoyed an excellent tasty burger all the way with tasty sauce and spicy sweet potato fries with chipotle aioli. nice selection of craft beers by the bottle. regular fries are also very good. this is a destination burger place for amelia island. simple, clean interior and polite staff. our only complaint is the horrible fluorescent lighting. the lighting makes this place a daytime only spot.

awesome burgers & fries!!!. the hamburgers are the best on amelia island, if not all of the jacksonville area!! the revitalized gas station is an outstanding addition to the fernandina beach historic district. the owners should be proud of the hard work they have been done to this previous eyesore and the city of fernandina beach should recognize the hard work that has been put into changing the image of the entrance to their downtown.

the food is extremely high quality, the service excellent, the facility extremely clean, and most of all the owner seems to be always present interfacing with all of her patrons in a very professional, yet down-home friendly manner. her food-service / restaurant background is clearly on display which is what makes this restaurant the place to go on amelia island for fresh food that caters to both the regular burger crowd and the healthy veggie burger customer!! all of the other "supposedly great" hamburger joints on the island take a back seat to tasty's!!!

could use better lighting at night. very bright. burgers are tasty although close to being undercooked

authentic ingredients perfectly cooked make for a meal that lives up to this new joint's name: tasty. fun, funky design in this old service station. will return!

amazing burgers and fries. amazing burgers and fries. head cook is really a gourmet chef and it shows. very inexpensive and the perfect destination place for a weekend road trip. have some good food and then shop the quaint historic district.
