great, every time.. what a texas steakhouse is supposed to be. one of the best fillet's anywhere, extensive wine list, polite professional, knowledgeable service. it is our go-to for visiting guests and pre travel night out.

waste. way over rated. too long of a wait for a huge let down once our meal arrived. i have had better steaks at chain restaurants for half the price.

great steaks. really good food, and on par price wise with every other big name steak house in town. kind of the older crowd though. (50+) if you want good food this if the right place, but if you want good food and a cool atmosphere, i would suggest something else. i have enjoyed it every time i have been.

love this place. i have been going here for years. when family comes in town we go to have some of the best steak around! they are more expensive than other places, but you get what you pay for. a special occasion this is the place to go. great atmosphere and a real feel and taste of texas.

just right for a steakhouse. the steakhouse is an outdated form of restaurant. most of are overpriced expense account destinations. however, the sense of comfort, familiarity, friendly vibe and great wine list at taste of texas helps it rise out of the usual suspects.

...although i had to send my steak back twice. this place is a bit gimmicky and it's pricey. the food is good though, and so is the wine list. it's noisy, and always crowded and not as cozy as a perry's or vic & anthony's, but the steak is comparable and you end up spending less money. great dessert selections. i'm not a big fan of salad bars. the last time i was there, i had to return my steak twice (sooo reluctantly as i hate to do that) but it just was not cooked how i ordered. that being said, i'm a little high maintenance on my steak as i want no pink, but minimal charring on the outside. i'm really up front about that though. even after they brought it back the 2nd time, it still wasn't right so i just gave up. the other three people i dined with got theirs perfect the first time. the waiter was so apologetic and genuine. the manager ended up giving me my entree for free and he gave us a $40 voucher for our next visit, so i really think they did a good job of trying to make it up to me. i'm not holding that against them as they handled it as well as it could've been handled... well, other than ever getting it right. ;)

okay this place is pricey. the steak is very good but i'm sure there are other places that serve more or less the same quality meats. i love the salad bar and the desserts - particularly the pecan pie. the service has always been good since the first the first time i ate there and the deco and atmosphere is nice. is it worth the price? it depends...if you're out with guests or clients then, yes. if you want to satisfy your craving for a cow, then there're other good steakhouses you can go to for less money.

sidenote: the fish/seafood is really not worth ordering.
if paying high prices then having to see ppl walk around in shorts and flip flops offends you, then don't go during the weekends!!

horrible. we went here for my birthday after i heard good things about it. we got a big steak to share and it was the worst steak we ever had. our meal was over $ 100 for a steak, sides, two drinks, and salad bar. what a waste of money! never going back here! overpriced and not good!

the steaks here are very good but not great. any review of this restaurant has to take into account the price. most steaks are going to cost $40 and up once tax, tip are added in. at this price range i want beef better than what is available at heb and this is not the case here. plus i don't expect to have to stand in line for a mediocre salad and get my own bread. the sides are uninspired if not simply awful. sauteed mushrooms that taste like they were microwaved out of a can. bland au gratin potatoes -yuck. deserts are on the same level of the sides. one exception was the excellent cinnamon ice cream that accompanied a simply bad pecan pie. appetizers are hit and miss, quail great, pre breaded frozen fried shrimp disgusting.

best steak house in houston. i was taken there by a business associate who wanted me to experience the best steak in town. the succulent steak i had was great and the salad selection was pretty good too.

ambience wise, its exciting to see so many stuffed animals heads around every corner and it makes you feel you are in texas.

awesome but pricey. their salad bar is amazing! i had the pecan crusted chicken, my hubby ordered a hand selected steak which was the "best he's ever had". great service. but very pricey. special occasion only

wonderful food. my husband and i have been eating at taste of texas for years and have always found it to be very good. sometimes you have to wait to be seated but most know that ahead of time- have a drink and relax. the steaks are outstanding and the salad bar is great. be willing to pay a good price for it but, for a night out, it is great.

over-rated!. mediocre, buffet style (yuck!)

i'll admit, the pecan pie is awesome, but i doubt it's homeade.

i think i am fully partial to this restaurant as i have been eating there since i was young. i do not think the best steak i have ever had is from taste of texas, but the experience is always great.
