this little place is wellworththe drive, my family has been going here for years. some things you should realize before you go: 1. if you go during lunch or dinner rush, expect to wait a while; plan accordingly. 2. kids can't be seated outside because of
*possible* rattlesnakes, we've never seen one, and the outdoor seating is awesome. don't be a jerk and argue with the servers that your kid is a special case, it ruins everyone else's meal. keep those two things in mind and you'll have a good time. the only bad meals we've ever had here had nothing to do with food or service, but other diners with crappy attitudes.

gluten-free friendly?! is that supposed to be a joke?. my wife went to taggart's for a work event. she has two food allergies: gluten and seafood. you'd think that those two things wouldn't exclude a person from finding at least something to eat at taggart's, but you'd be wrong. i am astounded at the lengths taggart's went to make sure she had a bad experience and wouldn't be able to eat anything. her gluten-free options included seafood options (obviously not an option for her), a lettuce-wrapped burger, or a salad with no dressing. seems like it wouldn't be a problem, since she orders lettuce-wrapped burgers all the time, and likes them. the issue is that taggart's feels they ought to squeeze every penny they can from those with food allergies and charges $2 for every possible workaround. lettuce-wrap? that'll be $2 (which makes sense, with all the extra... er... lack of a bun...?). want to bring your own salad dresssing? sorry, that's another $2. they literally charge more for providing less. and with overpriced food and the fact that she had a limited budget for the work event of $15, a lettuce-wrapped burger became out the question as well, as was bringing her own dressing. so she ended up with a dry salad. wonderful. soworthit.

and then, after all that, they forgot her order. seriously?! is this real life? i'm still half-convinced she was the victim of a prank.

it's pretty unbelievable how much taggart's went out of their way to ensure she'd have nothing to eat. have you ever heard of customer service? it's this cool new thing where you try to make sure your customers have a satisfying experience, so they'll want to come back. taggart's should consider trying it some time. i don't care how good the food is (deliciously dry salads!), customer service as poor as that means taggart's will never, ever have my business, or that of anyone i can tell about it. hope it'sworththat $2.

innovative comfort food at its finest. i love the fact that this family-owned restaurant is completely out of the way, and yet is always full of people who are willing to make the drive to enjoy what taggart's has to offer. we went on a saturday evening, and they were expectedly slammed. steve (the owner) was busy working the front of the house and greeting and seating guests.

our server seemed a little frazzled, as if she had a few too many tables to handle. when our food arrived, she realized that she forgot to place my meal in the computer. while the kitchen rushed to make me a plate, i looked on as the rest of the party enjoyed their meals.

but the wait was wellworthit. i had the chicken enchilada, which was seasoned perfectly (albeit the chicken was a bit dry). the white sauce on the enchilada was lovely, and the meal was fantastic. our server made up for forgetting my meal by comping me a dessert, which was appreciated. definitely check out their dessert selection (it's hard to miss--they strategically place their display case prominently in the waiting area :)

worth the drive. check it out.
