best fast food in town. i heard some great word of mouth surrounding this place, but was rather let down after visiting. i just can't understand why everyone seems to think the food is so good here. i'll admit their take on traditional mexican dishes is somewhat different in comparison to most other restaurants with their standard enchilada/rice/bean combos, but does that make it any better? not in my opinion.
i've tried a few things--carne asada tacos, flautas, enchiladas--but none have left me wanting more. i even tried a chile relleno after someone sitting next to me insisted it was one of the best chile rellenos she'd ever had. i didn't think it was special in any way. it wasn't bad--none of the food here is bad--but it just wasn't anything worth bragging about.
what i was impressed with, though, was their speed of service. despite there being hardly an empty seat in the house, my food was brought out just a few of minutes after ordering it at the counter. i hardly had time to work on my chips andsalsa(which, by the way, is the best thing they offer--thesalsais really good).
and lastly, the food is cheap. you'd pay more going to a taco cabana. if i was reviewing this solely on price, it'd be a 5/5. if i was reviewing it as a fast food joint (and, yes, there are striking similarities), it'd be a 5/5. but as an authentic dine-in mexican restaurant? i have to settle with a 3/5.
