don't miss it by the outside looking. their dishes is the best in edmonton as i live here for three years, just know this place by zamato. ordered red chilli pineapple poong, that one is really tasty, we also cleaned up that bowl even we are not strave, lol.

soooo good. we get take out from syphay at least once every couple of weeks. the pad thai is awesome - great flavour and the noodles are never over cooked. red curry and green curry are always consistent. lastly, my fave is the fried rice with crab paste. food is always flavourful and consistently prepared. one of the most authentic thai restaurants i have been to in edm, calg, van, and toronto.

great hole in the wall. best beef green thai curry and crispy garlic shrimp we had, of the thai restaurants in edmonton. looks like a dive from the outside, but the staff and food are great

ahh... the best thai food i've ever had? or was it laos? i don't know. it just tasted good.. being the cynical ol' me - yeah it was greasy / salty and the service could've been better.

but.

sometimes other things such as quality, taste, flavor, and variety overtake all the negative things and turn me into this biased monster praising this place.

you know, i barely knew what was on the menu because it was all raw text but i got the fried rice, the pad maow, the pad thai, green curry, deep fried curry chicken, and some spicy seafood curry dish. everything tasted outstanding. there was a really deep, concentrated, asian flavor to all of the dishes. in fact it was so pungent you can almost only appreciate it if you are from these countries.

the portions were small but the grease/salt fills you up. if you have health problems please stay away, you won't appreciate any of this. everyone else though, come give yourself a treat!

comparing to other malaysian/thai-type restaurants, tropika can kiss my ***, viphalay was good but not syphay house good, thai restaurant in causeway bay hk didn't taste that impressive, and boun thai... yeah i'm not even gonna go there - both figuratively and literally.

this place is small and looks like a dump from the outside and the inside with water dripping into buckets and so forth, but none of the customers seemed to care, and neither did i. so if you are a person that wants atmosphere, stay far, far away.

the wait can be long and treacherous so do make a reservation for the weekends. people seem to know about this place and want to keep it a secret from everyone... not no more!

green, yellow, or red?. which curry to get? i drive down calgary trail all the time and never knew this place existed, glad i found it on urban spoon. went with a big group and had a chance to sample many dishes, from apps to seafood to pad thai and curry. all were very authentic and delicious.

this is a little bit on the pricier side and depending on what you get you might have to pay extra for the rice, i order the seafood dish and didnt know it didnt come with rice so had to pay a bit more but worth it, pad thai is nice generous serving and very good. the waitress was very friendly. its a nice cozy place that you definately have to try once if you like thai or just spicy food!

not sure about the food, but the customer service seems pretty bad. they keep the open sign on, yet lock the door with no sign whatsoever.

i had the beef pad sew, which was okay - the noodles though were all chopped up and the there were too many sprouts. there were ingredients i never found in this dish normally. my husband took the shrimp pad thai and i really didn’t like the sauce. the food was very saltt and i don’t feel it tasted authentic. portions are big and prices reasonable.
i recommend the syphay platter to share- it was good. service is very slow, i had to get up and ask for water otherwise they would have never came. would i return to this place; no.

for some reason i can’t give half stars anymore, a shame as this is a 4.5 star. delicious thai food. ive had both the green curry and red curry, had chicken and beef, both delicious. vegetarian spring rolls were excellent. great value for the price.

love this place! their phad thai is to die for. we have tried several restaurants in the past, but this one is definitely memorable! the flavour is well balanced. order the spicy one if you are into hot food, and you will enjoy every bite of it!

will definitely go back to this place at the next visit to edmonton!

a small, intimate restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside. however, the ambiance, the service, and - most of all: the food - betray the unassuming exterior. unreservedly the best thai restaurant in town. our undisputed favorite in edmonton. i recommend this place to everyone who wants to hear it ... and even to those who don't ...

we were starving after squash so we headed to grab a late bite on a thursday evening. originally, we were going to hit up lets grill but they were randomly closed for a few weeks. luckily, there’s several options in this plaza so we hit up syphay. the outside looks like a ghetto, deteriorating house; always a plus in my books. i’ve only been here once before. they’ve upgraded the inside to match their downtown location.

the og location for syphay and still upholds good quality for many years. lunch special is always the best deals and the pad thai is a must order. location is a little light on parking and inside is a bit cozy, but it shouldn't stop you from eating here.

sal says: just eat it (4.5/5)

honestly this is my favorite thai restaurant in edmonton. i have been coming here even before they did their renovations. this restaurant is tucked away in a little house in calgary trail and you would never expect the amazing food that you'll get inside.

the food is just brilliantly consistent and cooked to perfection. the tom yum soup with basa fish... oh my goodness. it is amazing. the food is on the sweeter side but i prefer it that way. the pad thai is just amazing as is with all the curries.

the ladies are wonderful here, so friendly. i heard that the kitchen consists of just two cooks and two woks! the only thing i can negatively comment on is that sometimes service is a bit slow if they're short on staff and it's a busy night but it's so worth the wait! the ladies are wonderful and i love coming here!
